For me is at least 8k... Im a race car driver in semi- pro stage. I'm not a VW hater but I love 90's Hondas which make 170hp from 1.6 on 8k rpm almost 20 years ago when VW have 1.8 SOHC engine making 90 hp -.-. From my own experience I know that you need only few cylinder head mods to have over 200 hp from 1.6 Honda engine (1992 construction) on stock engine blok (stock pistons, crankshaft etc.)

But now Honda cars are shit and VW still making "sport" models... This is sad
