  • lmao this is slow put more things to get it going these engines have alot of potential my 4.8 is fully built forged pistons rods ls7 lifters patriot double springs comp cam 22x/22x lsa 112 and lift is .581 tb stall f.b.o. on sucky ass gears but getting 410s installed and a 100 shot just in case it aint enough. hopefully by january i can get a hold of a used turbo or procharger to run on boost :) get on my page so u can hear an idle clip of my truck and some races!

  • Not to bad better then my 4.3 but not by a whole lot. and has to rev higher to make max power.

  • Yeah I've had the 4.3 and 4.8 in GM Trucks, both are great motors.

  • @Hulceantor yeah my 4.3 has 185,000 miles on it and it still runs good. Those 5.3's and 4.8's are alot better then the old 350's and 5.0's More power, better MPG, better reliability. Overall Great GM products.

  • @abram7117 better mpg yes, better reliability no, more power hell no. my 93 5.7 350 beat my co workers friends 5.3 gmc my more then 4 lengths they have no balls i like them but there held back with all that computer shit

  • @sasserdave that 5.3 probably had some perty tall gears because i know they will smoke 350's with 3.73's or 4.10's for sure, or was it a 99 5.3?

  • @1985k20silverado was a 02 gmc ext cab i havent seen a 5.3 beat a 350 pretty sure theres a fake video somewhere out there but i havent had a newer silverado come anywhere near mine yet these newer ones are slower due to the limiters and every other thing holding them back u need to do a good bit for them to be fast like a tune ect..

  • @sasserdave I see it all the time dont get me wronge I love 350's but i have an 02 4.8 reg cab silverado with 3.73's and my friend has an 01 reg cab 5.3 silverado with 4.10's and they will both beat all the stock - mild built 350's in town

  • @1985k20silverado well come to md and u wont they do 0-60 around 7-8 sec with the 4.8 and 5.3 the 4.3 does it in 8.9 my 5.7 with mild upgrades was clocked in at 5.5 sec to 60 the only thing that would come close to mine would be the 6.2 silverado i commented to abram7117 due to him saying there so much better ya my mpg sucks but the reliability is the same i own a 4.3 silverado along with my 93 pace truck my pace truck has 120,000 on it and gets puonded on every day my 04 4.3 has around 112,000

  • @sasserdave 350's are good engines but im having a hard time believeing the 5.5 sec 0-60 in a truck with just bolton's, unless your version of boltons is a cam, heads, intake manifold, pertymuch everything but the low end. I still dont think all of that would get you to 6 seconds 0-60. Yes the new ones are held back from factory with all that tourque management Bull but nothing a custom tune cant change. Baisicly all chevy engines are gold but I think you may be overestamateing what they can do.

  • @1985k20silverado well mine has the track pack for the pace truck that was the better 350 and the new ram does 0-60 in 5.7 and its not the fastest truck out compared to the 6.2 chevy so its not hard to believe hell the tundra with just a super charger does it in 4.4 and im not saying the new ones are slow as hell but stock to stock a old one will windo to once u hit 90 the old one will have your ass long gone im constanly trying to make my 4.3 better but its no v8 lol

  • @sasserdave i just looked it up and the ram 5.7 does it in 7.4 sec ,i have a 350 in my 1985 silverado and its slower than shit but its a good engine that gets me around and pulls people out of the ditch. Do you know how fast 5 sec 0-60 is? thats a little slower than a 2010 camaro. You know the saying "theres no replacement for deplacement" that will always be true for low end power but these Vortec motors and pery powerful in the high RPM's as you probably know. I'll believe 5 sec when I see it.

  • 1985k20silverado then u need to look harder because for a 2009 dodge ram crew cab laramie does it in 5.7 sec from motor trends , truck trend the camaro and mustang are 4.4 and 4.6 sec to 60 a big difference u would know that if u were to race theres no replacement for deplacement not always true keep that in mind its all how u get your power down like u said with gear ratios also your wieght class if i can buy another camera after mine died ill send u the vid i would not lie about stupid shit

  • @sasserdave I dont believe everything I read. The reg cab short box R/T did it in what they say is 5.7 but for all we know that could be downhill. Their results and real world results can be supriselingly different. Im sorry but I can't believe 5.5 0-60 in a mostly stock 350 powered truck untill I see it. I know 1 second in a race is a lot but still you would be giving newer V8 camaros/ mustangs a run for their money.

  • ya so if thats the case then every car they test going 0 60 is like that then?lol like the camaro and mustang i guees it was downhill get real it was true and tested on a track why is it so hard to believe my 93 pace truck single cab short bed with a 10 bolt rear with a locking diff making 330hp from a stock 290 hp if u had the h.o with traction bars and goodyear eagle gt 2s can do it in 5.5 sec 350s are some of the best motors u can get askany racer theve been around there not weak moters

  • @sasserdave Actually yes, if you read a car and driver or motortrend magazine and they test a car they usually find their times .2- .4 seconds slower than what the company says. Its hard to believe that because I did a little looking around on youtube and the best time i found for a 350 is about 6 seconds, in a Camaro that was built. I never said 350's are weak i just dont see a truck with one doing 5.5 sec 0-60. I know their good motors (I have one) and I was part of a pit crew for raceing/demo

  • dude im done arguing with u i know my truck and i know what it did and thats all that matters i dont care if u belive me o im a mechanic have been for a long time im building a twin turbo 383 stoker for it now automotive is my pation anyone who knows there stuff and knows how to get the most of the things they own is aperson who centers there life around it.and thing are usally faster then what cd or motortrend say not slower like the camrao it does late 12s stock not mid13 anything is posible

  • @1985k20silverado and maybe it wouldint be so hard to believe if your 85 was in better shape its totally different then my year but maybe not to different from plain versions they had several different kinds of 350s during the years i guess if u say u do beat them maybe because not to many peopple take care of there trucks u racing a old beat down 350 with a new 4.8 of course your gonna win but find a decent one with the better version 350 it will give a damn good fight if not win

  • @sasserdave Under the hood my 85 is far from rundown. The 350 was rebuilt less than 1000 miles ago and an Edelbrock 4barrel was intalled at the same time as the rebuild. New rad, wires, plugs, cap, rotor, and muffler. The only drivetrain that wasnt worked on is the original tranny, driveshaft, and the rear end. All that and about all i can beat is a chevy aveo. I love 350's their built like tanks and mabey the newer ones are better but this one is SLOW.It gets me around but my 4.8 is much better

  • @1985k20silverado my family owns a lot of silverados. with the 1500 hd with the 6.0 no match. my 4.3 no match. my aunts 4.3 no match. my coworkers 5.3 no match. a family friend with a 4x4 z72 5.3 no match. just to name a few i like these trucks i love chevy but there held back your not gonna beat a truck that does not have a limiter to name one of the many things holding the newer ones back every time i make a electricel mod on my 4.3 it gets faster that theres proof like removing the limiters.

  • with tow haul on ... wtf

  • 4.8 vs the 5.3 is a tough one. 5.3 has more torque. I raced a buddy not a fair race since his is a 5.3 and quad cab, and I put a couple truck lengths on him. 4.8 is a good motor. I bought this truck cause it was a great deal since it was a left over 2007 model. I have since sold the truck and do miss it.

  • okay, the speed limit in california is 85, you didn't even go faster than 70. what was that.

  • 4.8L VS 5.3L...depends on year of the 5.3L. your 4.8 is rated 295hp, the same year 5.3L is rated 315. just about every year they were made, the 5.3L had a 20hp advantage and also more torque but it isnt a huge amount. i think its about 20 extra Lb-Ft too. may be a little more or a little less. not sure.

  • Not bad, I just prefer the 5.7

  • 5.8 you mean

  • Nope. I mean the 5.7. The 350.

  • what 5.8? gm didnt have a 5.8

  • I said, my BAD! 5.7, DON'T U READ BEFORE AND AFTER?

  • yes i do, you never put "my bad on here, dont YOU read before and after, or remember if you posted or not?

  • I WOULD PERFER THE 6.0

  • go buy one?

  • don't have 2, my sister's boyfriend has one, and got it for $1,000!! and has less that 23,000 miles! oh, you got burned!

  • i thought it did, anyways i send a message to him (personal message!) saying my bad

  • what do u like about the 4.8 l...... not tryin sound like a bitch just never knew anyone that had one and havit test drove one before.... ?

  • Correct it was a 2007 Classic.

  • this is a 2007 classic if its a 2007
