As corrupt as the Popes have been since the creation of the Vatican, I have to say this one was the best. I despise the church for it's hypocrisy it spits, but this man was truly a light in the darkness. He broke tradition by being the first non-Italian pope and has traveled to more countries than any other world leader. I'll miss the peace he brought to this world, as short as it lasted. I don't believe in the afterlife, but I hope John Paul II had rested his life in peace.

Wait a second, you do know that one of the bullets hit his hand, right? His hand is full of blood not because he was holding onto his wounded shoulder, but because it was his actual hand that was wounded. By the way, you can't see blood on his clothes because it was his right shoulder that was hit by the other bullet. In the clips you pointed only his left side of the body is visible.

I am incredulous at the effort put forth by atheist and friends to denigrate the religious beliefs held by others. If one doesn't believe a particular doctrine, it's enough to simply say that. Providing examples of present or past "evil doers" does nothing more than repeat elementary history. As corrupt as the Popes have been since the creation of the Vatican, I have to say this one was the best. I despise the church for it's hypocrisy it spits, but this man was truly a light in the darkness. He broke tradition by being the first non-Italian pope and has traveled to more countries than any other world leader. I'll miss the peace he brought to this world, as short as it lasted. I don't believe in the afterlife, but I hope John Paul II had rested his life in peace.

@Khasery there were lots of non-italian popes, starting with Saint Peter, Pope Anterus, Pope Honorius I, untill the well known Borgia Pope Alexander VI. This tradition of strictly ellecting roman cardinals as popes appeared out of an understandable fear, but was nevertheless a grave error.

Gdy zobaczyłem tę scenę w PRLowskich wiadomościach, to w pierwszym momencie po usłyszeniu nazwiska Wojtyła pomyślałem, że brzmi tak jakoś po polsku, ale komuchy nie powiedziały, że to Polak, kardynał z Krakowa. I often come to hear him, watch him, to return my mind to its state of peace after a crazy world out there. He was an extraordinary loving man, kind, humble, extremely intelligent. Everyday I am more passionate of him and this is particularly meaningful, when I happen to be one of those who lack in faith, but I definitively can believe in his example.

The Italians fell in love that night, especially with "se mi sbaglio, mi corrigerete" - which JPII made a mistake, corrigerete is Latin, not corregerete, which is Italian (the phrase means "if I make a mistake, I hope you all will correct me!")
