I think you could do with a few upstrokes in there. The rhythm for almost the whole song is 6/8 so keep that in mind. Try counting |:1-2-3-4- 1234 | 1-2-3-4- 1234:|, etc. Your voice sounds like it could be really good with a bit of practice.

yeah, I didn't learn the original strumming pattern at all so it's a different tempo and time signature. I never practice strumming patterns so that's why I didn't try to copy the original, because I wouldn't have been able to, but I agree it would have sounded better.

I think you butchered this. It doesn't do the song justice. I'm all for mixing up a song, but your singing is kind of nonchalant and it sounds like you need to remove a retainer. I'd also note that the whole movement of the song comes from the emotion, which you clearly lack, as well as the notes to be held that you just cut off. As for the guitar, the progression of G#, F#, Fm, etc only really works with an acoustic; the constant strumming just sounds obnoxious and doesn't compliment your tone.
