  • interested in what is generally a mechanism for turning on and off

  • I am 65, have a 30 acre woodlot and have split over 100 cords using this machine. Very fast and good for the average size I split which is around 16". Up to 30" is about my limit which requires me to use the tractor bucket to raise to the spliting table. When I asked the maker of the machine "So, what breaks when using this machine" he replied "the wood"! I have not had one problem using it and highly recommend it. Funny how you don't see any second hand ones for sale.

  • I doubt that would work on hardwoods...I cant see it doing oak or hickory that easily or quickly.

  • hydralic splitters takes 2 hours to do 1 cord.

that splitter could be a tad dangerous if u put your hand in wrong place its to fast so it could gimp your hand up if not carefull.

  • Good idea, but it seems too easy to get a finger between the log and the blade!

  • This splitter does work well. I've used one to split beech, maple, birch, oak and ash. It's actually almost too fast...kinda' dangerous if you're not paying attention.

  • Not bad, if you have some nice easy-to-split wood. I would like to see a foot pedal

maybe. Seems safe, you can stop the cycle if you can get to that lever in time.

  • I'd like to see how it performs on some stringy, knotty elm... If it splits elm like it splits oak, then I'll be impressed.

  • @xlr82v2 -- yahf no kidding -- i just uploaded my splitter in action

  • Well its fast, I give it that!

  • so simple but so good

  • my 30 ton hydrolic slpiter is acculy pretty fast

  • The price is about twice that of hyd last time i looked last year.

    No vertical that i seen.

  • This is very impressive on American sotwood pine, but how would it go with Australian Hardwood?

  • i second that

  • You guys don't know anything. Hardwood splits so much easier than softwood. Softwood gets stringy and doesn't split as easily

  • well some hard wood splits easy until u get wood so hard that u cant even stick the axe into

  • Not as well on a bunch of jarrah as this, I'm sure, but that's not pine. It's oak. It is, though, a nice splitting and nice burning wood.

I was hoping for a crotch or a big piece of knotted hickory. I'm guessing it would stop it, but it's good at what it's good for. Much more efficient than hydraulics.

  • @CondorFlanagan Thats hardwood they are splitting, it's also been my experience, that some of the hardest woods split very easy

  • Realy nice you can create a vertical version

    with hydraulic presour!

  • Where are they sold and how does the price compare to a hyd type?

  • watch those hands

  • All logs have to be the same size! That might be a pain.
