  • whats the name of that dulux ad that was, miss pink was in love with mr. blue or something?

  • u must read this. once u have started there is no turning back. a litle 10 year old girl was raped and murdered in 1945. her body was not fund until 1947. then a boy last week read this and did not copy and paste this message. the dead girl appeared in his room haunting him and killed him. if you do not copy and paste this onto 10 videos 30 minutes the dead girl will appear in your room tonight and hant you and kil you. well you better start to copy and paste to be saved

  • It's just too bad the ad company are patting themselves on the back and taking awards, but were too cheap to actually pay the real artists who they knowingly stole the idea from, for the original, search "FAVELA PAINTING PROJECT", for some reason I can't post the link.

  • Jonsi <3

  • This is awesome :) <3

  • Yeah, that's gonna need a second coat I'm afraid :)

  • f*ck the buff

  • very impressive_congratulations

  • this is the villa map in MW2

  • AWESOOOME COMMERCIAL X 5

  • how do they tape this vid? can someone tell me please???

  • Hi @dalvarox27. We used motion control to track very slowly at 0.5mm per second or slower. Some of the moves took 90 minutes in real time For the shot at the start we tamped the camera tps, iris and exposure time in sync to move from 25fps to 0.1fps - all in camera!

  • @TheSweetyKins oh shut the fuck up and enjoy the video man!

  • @TheSweetyKins, feeding and educating someone doesn't always solve the problem. you first have to change the mentality to give birth to widespread change. Color evokes strong emotions, emotions that can change.

  • @darkmanZer0 Well if all the individuals in that village are starving to death or dying from poison, than what will it matter? Priorities come FIRST luxuries come second.

  • @TheSweetyKins, No shit, but there's also something called chronic poverty that plagues areas that barely lives above poverty. We're not looking at starving people from Yemen or Ethopia in this video, we'll looking at the ghettos of South America and India. Even if we fed and educated them, those that are smart enough just leave the area, and that still doesn't change the region.

  • @darkmanZer0 I don't think you understand, doing this has more negative effects than positive ones. Are they even paying the individuals who where doing the painting? Or were they volunteers? What, could "letscolour" not be bothered to stimulate their economy? The paint will fade, and their surrounding ecosystem and the health of others will suffer.

  • @TheSweetyKins, No I don't think you understand. You are taking the concept too fucking literal. It's about community feeling good about themselves and willing to transform their environment for the better, which doesn't have to be painting but the concept of Urban renewal. No economy will get stimulated if people do not want to go into said environment, nor invest in it, nor return to it. Good example is Liverpool and its revival utilizing their musical history.

  • @darkmanZer0 Urban renewal can be obtained in other ways as you said, and if thats the point of this project than they are doing it the worst fucking way possible. Landscaping, community centers, even just picking up trash off the streets are all better and more effective ways of urban renewal with little to no down sides. You can paint the crumbling old buildings all you want with that toxic shit, but it wont fool anyone. They're just covering up what needs to be fixed.

  • @darkmanZer0 And please don't tell me you honestly believe painting some buildings will suddenly make people want to stay in said place. Creating jobs, stimulates the economy, period.

  • Hi @TheSweetyKins, all of the people in the film are from the community. They are a mixture of: people who live there and local professional painters who we paid. We worked with the local people to choose what colour they wanted their places to be painted. The Let's Colour Project is an ongoing project and this film just a 2 minute snap shot of that. Have a good day.

  • Hi @TheSweetyKins. None of the paint we used contained lead or parabens. The paint is also specially designed to protect the building in order to prolong its life as well and not wash off once dry. If the instructions on the back of the tins are followed, the paint is safe to use... (cont)

  • @letscolour Could you give me the brand name of the paint you use?

  • @TheSweetyKins The disposal of paint tins differs depending on what country you are in. In the UK, we’ve created and now sponsor a re-use scheme called Community Repaint – community groups make use of left over paint on community projects that they identify. For more info check communityrepaint . org . uk

  • @TheSweetyKins In Malaysia we’ve teamed up with TESCO to take back left over paint to use in the community.

In India most containers are re-used for other purposes. And, in other countries we’ve set up recycling schemes for metal and plastic containers and in other territories paint cans are left over paint are recycled by an industry scheme... (cont)

  • @TheSweetyKins We’ve also developed a tool, with a leading non-profit sustainability organisation, that we use around the world. It basically measures the overall environmental footprint to help us identify improvements and also to select the right product for the specific situation. It’s called the environmental Impact Analyser. You can check it out here: forumforthefuture . org /projects/enviro-impact-analyser-intro

  • @TheSweetyKins S T F U

  • @aerostorm77 No :)

    You mad?

  • @TheSweetyKins not really :)

  • @aerostorm77 well good then.

no need to use caps :)

  • @TheSweetyKins You got told.

  • @jmscrftable No not really, they wont even tell me what paint they use, out of fear of people knowing what they're actually doing to the environment.

  • @TheSweetyKins Isn't it fairly evident they use Dulux paint?

  • @TheSweetyKins pwned.

  • @TheSweetyKins SUCK ON THAT, BIOTCH!

  • The human race

  • The video seemed fine until the point it got to potentially historically and curturally important buildings which should be left alone to preserve them.

  • nice work!

  • How slow do you have to move the camera to make it look like it actually does?

  • @redsd2121 We used motion control to track very slowly at 0.5mm per second or slower. Some of the moves took 90 minutes in real time For the shot at the start we tamped the camera tps, iris and exposure time in sync to move from 25fps to 0.1fps - all in camera!

  • awesome time lapse <3

  • lol I bet those faggots would paint shit purple. because purple is a gay colour and all brown people are faggots.

  • Obtain 3,000 buckets of paint: $45,000

Buy plane tickets around the world: $4,000

Bring color to the world: Priceless

  • @corbett656 :)

  • its a nice idea but 1) some of the colors are way to bright and ugly 2) some of those buildings looked historic and maybe should have been left the way they were 3) some of those buildings looked worse when you painted them, so maybe you should have applied the same color, and not some of those ugly bright colors....

  • Now you have to do the second coat or it'll look bad :P have fun

  • JONSI!

  • A fantastic campaign! Love the idea and the production on the video. A great way to handle corporate social responsibility. Would have been great to partner with Habitat for Humanity as well.

  • @FourT6and2 Thank you!

  • I lived most of my life in Caracas, in daily contact with favelas like the ones on the video and also know how gloomy Northern Europe can be sometimes...

A perfect mixture of that, the strong images, song and message made me cry by the part of the red-to-orange stairs... lol...

I wish all videos/messages I saw were like this.

    Keep it up guys!!

  • how much was digitally "painted"?

    how much really in-camera?

  • Hi @TerryOS It was all painted for real, in camera, by members of the community. No digital painting was used :)

  • who is that soundtrack from and whats it called ? doas anybody know ?

  • @snooper111 The song is called "Go Do" by Jonsi.

  • And this one is just amazing.

  • Nice concept and idea ... love it!

  • I can't stop watching this, I only discovered this film today and have already watched it about six times! It's just beautiful, whether it is a blatant PR stunt by Dulux or real grass roots community action it's still powerful. Thanks Dulux for respecting the beauty & not turning this into major brand push.

  • yikes. the toxification of the world through paint. think about how the fish feel. sh*t.

  • I have bought Who Is Director, you can read my review here - clickbankreviewdude(dot)com/who-is-directory-review/

  • @2182m Thank you!

  • This commercial screams Mirror's Edge to me for some reason.

  • Amazing!!!

  • JONSI!

  • I want to go see the places where they painted. :)

  • what about the culture of this places? the historical traces of architecture?

u painted same aereas that originally white because of a historical background that comes from years, don't u think this should be respected?

there's a building from the brutalism period of last century's architecture, and u simply painted with no care about the, not only historical, but also political importance of this kind of building. i respect the ideia and the carrying about some forgotten areas, but...

  • @bobesponjadokctporra I respect your opinion, but the project is about stopping urban decay. How respectful is letting those buildings just rot with daily use? A coat of paint is needed - Also, one must remember that today is a part of history too. This project could potentially lead to a revitalization of the areas shown in the video. That has worth in itself. It is not painting with no care, it's painting TO care.

  • kennethj1956 is an idiot

  • wow! makes me wanna paint something.

  • May I just say that I find it really cool that the people who made this video are responding to the comments about how it's made. Absolutely wonderful.

  • @MrTerecs Thanks MrTerecs :)

  • That looked hard to make.

  • Really, an amazing idea, id love to make something similiar to this one day, signed up on this project right away !

  • Wow love it.

  • Wow...<3<3

  • JONSI!

lol, i saw this on pitchfork and had a freakout.

  • @GIMPmanipulated

    So did I. :P

Jonsi's awesome...hopefully it will attract more people to his music.

  • This is epic. Having a Jonsi song in the background just makes it that much more amazing. Best commercial of 2010 thus far, IMO.

  • Which city is at the every beginning of the video? The one with all the graffiti? It'd be interesting to see if all that color actually stays there, or if it just inspires more people to want to spray paint ugly letters over it. Really amazing video; here's hoping it brings them more happiness.

  • @IVomitOrgasms I think the city you are talking about is Rio de Janeiro, Brasil.

  • @IVomitOrgasms The first location is Lapa, Rio, Brazil. We painting around the Lapa stairs. It is such a wonderful city with such a heartbeat. They really do embrace colour there. Can't wait to go back!

  • I am blown away.

  • gorgeous!

  • Aww I love this. So inspiring <3

  • WOW AMAZING.

  • incredible

  • did you guys use "The Time Machine" for the time lapse? The motion control to track movement is very impressive. Did you have to build custom tracks for your rig?

  • colour is important for us to live....beautiful!!

  • amaing...

  • Great film, great idea and so much more, than just colors.

One regrettable thing, this beautiful idea would never work in Budapest (Hungary), not even for a wall - wish, some part of the world would be as flexible, as these locations shot for the ad. to give place to such admirable, simple ideas (or at least, just to some colors),

Is it just me, who sees in this film more, than just a clever ad and pretty color

    s ???

    Thank you.
