I've trained BJJ for the last 3 years and I've just started Judo recently.. Trust me, Judo is no joke. I was thrown 10 times in 3 minutes from this judo black belt.. His ground game was decent too.. I'd say, high blue belt, border-line purple belt level.. But they spend much more time throwing - Any BJJ player goes to a judo club, will be thrown.. Trust me. Any judoka going to a bjj school, will be tapped, trust me.
If what you say is true please tell me where the modern day Kosen fighters are who have the same skill level on the ground as the BJJ fighters. Surely the one who taught Carlos Gracie JJ (Kount Koma) had other top students in Japan who should've passed on their knowledge down and the Japanese fighters would possess the same refined tech in submission that the Brazilians have. I have trained with Judo guys before and they weren't too sharp on the ground.
I hear this from Judo guys often but I don't believe it. The old techniques were improved and modified for real streetfighting which was something that the original Judokas in Japan didn't do. The best way to perfect something is to put it to the test. Kimura's techs were different from Helio Gracie's techs. Streetfighting and tournament sport are two different things.

Main difference after throw-hold onto arm, and finish them off.

I've trained BJJ for the last 3 years and I've just started Judo recently.. Trust me, Judo is no joke. I was thrown 10 times in 3 minutes from this judo black belt.. His ground game was decent too.. I'd say, high blue belt, border-line purple belt level.. But they spend much more time throwing - Any BJJ player goes to a judo club, will be thrown.. Trust me. Any judoka going to a bjj school, will be tapped, trust me.

If what you say is true please tell me where the modern day Kosen fighters are who have the same skill level on the ground as the BJJ fighters. Surely the one who taught Carlos Gracie JJ (Kount Koma) had other top students in Japan who should've passed on their knowledge down and the Japanese fighters would possess the same refined tech in submission that the Brazilians have. I have trained with Judo guys before and they weren't too sharp on the ground.

I hear this from Judo guys often but I don't believe it. The old techniques were improved and modified for real streetfighting which was something that the original Judokas in Japan didn't do. The best way to perfect something is to put it to the test. Kimura's techs were different from Helio Gracie's techs. Streetfighting and tournament sport are two different things.

LOL. Uh...no disrespect intended but traditional JJ/Judo and BRAZILIAN JJ are two entirely different styles. The only way you can understand is by going to a BRAZILIAN jiu jitu academy and train. Like night and day.
And I'm sorry but your knowledge of pressurepoints will be obsolete I can assure you.

Actuallly Traditional Judo (like Kosen Judo), old school Judo, is ALOT like BJJ. Where do you think the Gracie's got most of their methods, guiards, and techniques from? See the Helio vs Kimura fight? They stole his "kimura" lock. There are alot of things in the NON-SPORT Judo styles, you just have to look. Main difference after throw-hold onto arm, and finish them off.

lol, pressurepoints will kill a fighter in seconds, its just illegal. anywayz BJJ is overrated. masahiko kimura schooled helio gracie. Kazushi "The Gracie Hunter" Sakuraba will probably give a woopen to RIckson who is rumoured to be training to fight him. crocop, silva, and my martial arts (muay thai) will woop ure bjj any day

Idiot. I do Muay Thai too, as well as BJJ and Muay Thai is all stand up. There is no ground. Muay Thai would hold up standing up but as soon as a MT fighter hits the mat against a BJJ practioner, they're done. Stop talking out of your ass and think what you are talking about.

cro cop got tapped by minotauro pretty easy and got his ass kicked pretty bad by gonzaga cause his ground game sucks. saku would gt his ass kicked, the guy is a time bomb too many injurys if ya ask me.

crocop didnt really get tapped ezily. he gave big nog a hell of a beating b4 that and i see him winning a rematch. as for GG, GG has a vicious kick know1 knew bout, he even managed to break couture's arm. iuno wat to say bout CC vs GG rematch. as for saku, yes he'd get owned by any gracie now but prime saku vs prime rickson would be a win for saku

you don't think we can grapple?? well we have like judo and Bjj type of training... everytime like 10 min of submissionfighting and then we teach more submissions. :D we have actualy more grappling then standup fighting
(every school is different...) I like grappling but I use strikes as well as presurepoints... actualy you can
win easyly a grappler with some presurepoints... but We
don't use them in match/sparrings
