  • this song is on 20th century superstar 1-4

  • just found marc as toby tyler brill what a talent been a fan for 40 years never will give up listening to bolan

few beers and music from heaven

  • sounds like he's playing an out of tune 12 string, gotta say tho, it doesn't sound like Marc's usual playing style, my guess is that it's one of the session players at decca

  • Itunes or Amazon needs to GET WITH IT!!!!

    i cant find this ANYWHERE!!!

  • I never heard this version before. It is good but I prefer the Dion version which is a lot slower

  • How cool! This song was not a hit at all, it's a very obscure Dion tune. Marc Bolan really was a cool cat - not that we didn't know that before.

  • its weird to hear him b4 he went electric. sounds like FOLK music!!!!!!

    i love it though.

    ITS GREAT!!!!!!!!!!

  • In regards to EmilyUpJohn's comment on "The Road I'm On (Gloria)," I've listened to both Dion's and Bolan's versions, and I like the latter version more.

  • superb song what a legend keep a little marc in your heart

  • YES...

    I just learnt it lol

  • Bolan's version is great, but this song was written and first recorded by Dion diMucci (of Dion and the Belmonts fame). His beautiful recording of it is currently up on YouTube -- give it a listen!

  • It was just a tragic, tragic accident guys.

  • Don't read too much into it. It's a cover of a Dion song which he did along with Dylan's Blowing in the Wind, in his earliest folky days.

  • never heard this b 4, it's Awesome, what a star even then!

  • Odd.He die on a Road in a car Gloria was driving.

  • If Marc truly knew how he was going to die -and sometimes i really think he did- then why did he still leave June for Gloria, if he knew right from the start that she could be the death of him? It's confusing. Maybe he thought that he couldn't escape fate and just let it all happen..instead of trying to prevent it. Or are we all reading too deeply into this? But nevertheless.. tthere's still so much that suggests he knew.

  • What codswallop! Yoshi-thats way to heavy. Bolan would piss himself at such nonesense!

  • @YoshiGirlGina He never left June, Gloria was 1 of his many flings and June had enough and finally left him. Although they never did divorce even afterr startin proceedings

  • wow..i've never heard this song..raw, and sweet!..Bolan lives on!

  • just wish he was still here with us to share his music

  • Amazing and uncanny that he sang this long before he met Gloria and then died in a car she was driving - on a road that would never run him home!

  • Since we last loved gloria

the suns been up and down that many times

    since we last loved gloria

i've been sharing love with women of kinds

summer ends and leaves start dying

    you wont see robin crying

he knows where the sun is hiding

    to another nest he's flying

you gave me reason now I've gotta roam

'cos the road I'm on gal won't run me home

  • Hear my words gloria

echoing from mountains with a cry

    Hear my words gloria

you'll see them gal reflecting off the sky

hear it in the cold wind blowing

hear it in the river's flowing

no-one in the mind thats growing

see 'cos the cards thats showing

  • you gave me reason now I've gotta roam

'cos the road I'm on gal won't run me home

summer ends and leaves start dying

    you wont see robin crying

he knows where the sun is hiding

    to another nest he's flying

you gave me reason now I've gotta roam

'cos the road I'm on gal won't run me home

'cos the road I'm on gal won't run me home

  • I think marc always knew what road he was on and where it was leading.

    rip marc

  • I try not to think about Marc Bolans death - its too sad ... I focus on the man, his music and everything he gave to his fans,, ty

  • Loved this track ever since I bought the box set a few years ago, which was where I first heard it

  • so, who's going to tell Devendra fans that he's a thief in the highest degree...I'm so tired of his acid apostles and his cheap fame.

  • @caribouchrist He is not a thief he did a cover like so so so so many other artists he also did bob dylan blowing in the wind but never tried to pass them off as songs he had wrote himself!

  • Such a beautiful song and great video, many tanx for posting!!!!!

Have rated you 5*****s plus added to my favourites!!!!!!

    Rock On

    Sequin

  • makes me cry

  • hey x i love this song so much do u know who sung it first was it dion or marc xxx

  • who else finds it impossible to stop listening to this one?

  • Now the song is really beatiful. I think we all know both are responsable for his death. And anyway Gloria loved Marc and it must have been horrible for her, what happened. We can't blame her. Love on ya, Marc.

  • Well, after all that's said and done: he and Gloria killed Marc...She had Jet-lag and was very tired yet stll drank alcohol: Marc knew these things but instisted to go out and celebrate his new plans and her birthday that was a couple of days before...So conclusion: They both are resonsable for his death...They robbed us and Rolan of Marc and of his life with his child and us....No offence, but that's how I see it...

  • Life and death is more complicated than that. I am sure it was not that one time being drunk and driving that did it. It caught up with them. I agree both of them had impaired judgement. Marc's repeated decisions to put Gloria on his records was strange. Her voice was often annoying and off-key. At the least awkward, if not distracting. When men leave there wives and run around on them, often bad things happen to all parties involved. Gloria, was an overall bad influence on Marc and his music.

  • Davwave you are a moron - your talking shit out ya arse mate - Gloria gave Marc a child he adored and loved deeply - Marc's family said the child matured Marc overnight - Marc himself proclaimed a deep love for his baby and Gloria - you are an idiot if you think otherwise given that it came straight from the proverbial "{horses mouth". In anycase who the fuck are you to judge who Marc chose as his partner. Go back to sleep noddy.

  • @indistructibleflower well put

  • Oh how I wish he was still alive

  • He knew long before it happened. Bless you beauty. Your spirit is very alive.

  • 5 stars and a fav. tanx

  • omg I cant believe this song talk about premonitions all I can say is I dont know what to say I feel like ive been punched in the stomach

  • Where did you get this song i really want it!!!!

  • Box Set. Twentieth C. Superstar.

  • cool thanks for the email

  • @BEroksmysoks70 It was from Marc short time known as Toby Tyler x

  • Always a star Marc. You'll never, ever be forgotten. We've all got a piece of you in our hearts.

  • Amazing piece of music! x x x x x

  • In the recent TV documentaries his vocal style at this session where he also recorded 'Blowing In The Wind' was seriously called into question.... How could it be. This is a voice oozing soul and genius even at this early age. The 'Mrs Jones' track from Joe Meeks studio the previous year is the same.. Total passion in the voice..

There never will be anyone like Marc again... I feel so blessed to have met him a few times in 76 and 77.. God bless you Marc..

  • Absolutely agree with every word. Wish i could have met him. I hang to the memory of seeing him live once in 77. Miss his music and mystyic big style

  • @Andrewwarrior I love his blowing in the wind i do not understand how people cannot can fink it is so awful!!!

  • Wow!! Isn't that a nice bit of singing! How many ways do I love Marc Bolan!! He was such a talented fellow. I sure wish he would have had a longer life!

  • It is strange how he chose this song to record. a prophetic genius.

  • Thinking about you today Marc, love you lots. X

  • i want to play this anyone got tabs

  • id like them too but as this is a song by dion (not that mainstream a singer), a b-side, and also marc plays it quite differently to the original, i think itll be hard to find. but im working on it!

  • thanks for that i have the version for dion in my files also but am not really good at figuring out strumming patterns etc

  • has anybody got a song/video copy of rawramp.???..thanx

  • wonderful...as always....tanx x x x x

  • this is fantastic

  • just carnt stop playing this, been singing it all day at work....my 7 year old niece loves it,she a Marc Bolan fan now...Thats what it is all about spreading the gospel of marc...

  • That really was eerie, wasn't it? Thanks for sharing though, honeysprite :)

  • Wasn't he just IT? Wonderful! Thanks!

  • what a brilliant song and a brilliant video to go with it..how weird was that? That was a awesome, you've done it again honey, you're marc's angel..xxx

  • great song, hard to believe its our main man

  • love marc sorry gloria you killed ma hero

  • Wonderful video and yes it seems very prophetic, like so many other things in Marc's life. This particular song wasn't written by Marc it was written by Dion Di Mucci of 'run around sue' fame. This i think makes it even more strange that Marc would choose a song quite unpredictably to cover in his early career that appears to be so prophetic.

    Delf and Kaz x

  • It really has that early 60's feel about, and yes does seem to foretell the future. Loved it you've done another great one kev xxxxxx

  • My god that is so strange

  • great song grear video and one of the many spooky things about Marc's songs. (the first know Marc recording when he was 15 is a track called Mrs Jones)

  • Life is strange

  • That is spooky...

    Fantastic video:)
