This is my part...actually one of 3 parts!!! If anyone is lives in St. Louis...come see Saint Louis Ballet's Swan Lake April 9-11!!!=D This is a totally shameless plug...sorry!!! Swan Lake is probably my favorite classical ballet!!!
its not to late. im sure once you start up again it will get easier. i started dancing when i was 3 and then stopped at age 6. then started back up again when i was 8 or nine, then i stopped again and started back at age 13 and have been dancing ever since, im 15 now. and im doing great, or at least i think i am. haha
@rembrandt225 If you know ballet, maybe you can tell me the technical term for when the ballerinas get tossed into the air and float back down beginning at 5:05. Thanks!
@Entertainmentwriter I'm offended by what you are saying. I am working to accept and love myself and everybody and everything. I am hurt and I feel that I am being accepted only conditionally. Not unconditionally.
... i forgot to ask ... do some ballet companies do this waltz as a "maypole dance" ? ... i thought i saw the royal ( london ) do it that way ( ? ) ... thanks for posting .....
i like how graceful the ballet dancers are xD i would actually love to see an actual show someday... :D soon.....

I love the Jester. Usually you associate such a figure with clumsiness and silliness. This one hower excudes power and grace. Its unnerving.

That was beautiful. I just love the fine arts, from ballet, to paintings. Some people have so much talent, it makes me so happy.

I saw an American production here on youtube do that variation. I think Angel Corella was in it.

... thanks - i think the kirov also does it as a maypole ...
toronstganymede 3 years ago
The Kirov does not do the waltz with a mayploe.
rosacotton 3 years ago
ABT does the maypole dance (in the McKenzie version since 2000).
When I saw it in Tokyo, it was more like a mess than a dance, maybe because the stage was smaller than their usual Met stage.

... thanks hermit - so you like pas de deux ? what about the golden idol from la bayadere ? ...
toronstganymede 2 years ago
Of course, being a Japanese, I could never leave out Teddy Kumakawa's performance at the Royal Ballet or Morihiro Iwata's at the Bolshoi.
Both are available on youtube.
Japanese dancers are not exactly outstanding in their posture, but strong technique shines (especially as the gold/bronze idol)!
