  • Whahahaaa!! Grils rules!! No one can ever say again: girls are not brave!! In the netherlands is this movie a hit!!

  • Pleaseee someone tell me the name of the soundtrack of that trailer....it`s not in the official OST....

P.S.- The book is fantastic, u should definitely read her before watching the movie! :)

  • I guess no one could be sure if there really was a Pope Joan or not...but I read the book and it is in my top 4 list of recommendations. Just the simple fact that she wanted to learn and was unable to (not acceptable at the time) gives me reason to see how such a thing could happen. Thank you for a FABULOUS book! Would LOVE to see the movie!

  • Wonderful. History, at last.

  • I first heard of Pope Joan when I read Caryl Churchill's play Top Girls. Didn't even know about the book until a few months later. True or not (though I enjoy believing it is) it absolutely became one of my favorite books and I recommend it to anyone interested in female empowerment. Can't wait to see this!

  • Thanks,Grammaforpeace, for the kind words about my novel. Sorry you got that hateful response--evidently from someone who hasn't read my novel. For it's NOT anti-Catholic. Its theme is female empowerment through learning-- in a time when it was believed that women should not be educated. Would the person who responded to you be equally angry about a book/movie about King Arthur? If not, then ask yourself: what is it about Joan's story that is still so threatening--over 1,000 years later?

  • @grammaforpeace Pope Joan is a medieval fairy tale. Only a fool believes this garbage, because there is not one shred of existing evidence that can prove that an actual female Pope ever reigned during any of the dates as suggested. This nonsense was simply an anti-papal fable made up by Catholic-bashers and continues to be propagated by liberal feminist.

  • As far as i know "Pope Joan" IS a german film. the main actress is german, but luckily most of the other actors is english (I´m not a big fan of german actors, but the ones in here are great ^^). It was a production of Constantin Films wich is German. I don´t like the german dub though, so I´m happy you uploaded the english trailer^^

  • I've finished the book today!!! It's really good!!

Very well described and written. When i heard there was a movie, i decided to look for it!

I hope i comes to Brasil!

  • Even reputable historians with plenty of axes to grind against the Catholic Church agree that "Pope Joan" is a myth.

  • Pope Joan is her name. The Vatican made sure that any records of her were erased, too. Apparently, having a female pope is more damaging to the Vatican's reputation than their priests molesting children.

  • @gir908922 Based on a NOVEL, its not true, another anticatholic ignorant of history, imagine that !

  • @rossandmargie actually there´s lots of evidence that it IS true. it probaby didn´t happen exactly like it did in the book, but the main points (her giving birth to a child in the street, her being the pope) can be found in old documents. (i.e.: there´s a documents that mentiones the streets not being used anymore for a certain festival because of that female pope who gave birth to a child there.) one can´t be a 100% sure of course, but neither can you say the opposite.

  • I was just telling a friend of mine today that she should read Pope Joan. I look it up on the internet and was so surprised to see that there is a movie. I had no idea. Now I am dying to see it. One of the best books EVER!!

  • This is probably one of the best books I've ever read. I cannot wait to see this film! It needs to be in wide release in the U.S. Everyone needs to see this! Very powerful tale that needs to be seen!!!

  • This movie needs to be brought to every state in America. Hopefully, the conservative Christians will not be able to keep it out. Everyone needs to see this movie and read the book

  • @CrankyCrash

What "conservative Christians" would want to keep the story of Pope Joan buried? A lot oft evangelical Protestants consider the Pope to be a species of Antichrist.

  • This book was AMAZING!!! I can't wait to see the movie in Minneapolis. Please bring it here soon!!!!!!!!

  • My book club read this magnificent book and we have been waiting a very long time for the movie to come to Montreal, Canada.

  • a great book, and i want to movie to come to fresno!

  • Best book I've read..... can't wait for the movie!

  • I'm looking forward to seeing this riveting film!!!

  • This looks like the book reads. The whole idea is fascinating and I look forward to seeing the whole film. Nancy

  • and imagine, it's coming to Utah November 11, 2010 to the Red Rock Film Festival!

  • I've just finished reading the book - couldn't put it down - look forward to watching the film!!!

  • Jewish..

  • Thank you for making this book into a movie !!! It's brilliant !!!!

  • Bravo to Donna Woolfolk Cross, the actors, and everyone involved with the film! Break a leg! Well done! I'm truly looking forward to seeing the film! If the powerful, exciting trailer is anything to go by, the film must be absolutely stunning, gripping, and breathtaking! Cheers!

  • Thank heavens! This one makes so much more sense. I knew those English subtitles didn't say what the actors would say in English. Thanks for putting this Pope Joan Original English trailer online! And thanks for showing us how to try to bring the movie to the US. I can't wait to see the whole thing!
