  • what a waste...

  • that's some should be a crime...

  • Step 1: Remove the engine

    Step 2: Stop project

    Step 3: Sell parts

  • By reading these comments I realized that you cannot please everyone. If your project is a success than you're a hero if not then good try as long as you have learned and appreciated it along the way. Everybody wants world peace but no one takes the first step which is respect. Hey if you don't like his project leave the page, don't try to change a contrarian change yourself!

  • Tragic killing a nice classic in running condition. I did notice that the destruction started in 2008 and no updates since. My guess is the car is out behind a building somewhere with half the chassis hacked up and was a total waste. Shame.

  • you bastards! how dare you put electric in an MG!

  • Argh..why couldn’t you have just used a car with a knackered engine I don’t know. What a waste by a bunch of self righteous environmentalists...

  • some one sould kill u

  • i hope the mowog ghost gets you lot

  • Should have done it to a GEO Metro or something rather than one of the nicer looking chrome-bumpered older Midgets.

  • these negative comments are ridiculous. i'm all for it. When the MG becomes electric it will run FOREVER and not on the blood of soldiers giving their lives to fight for the few remaining oil reserves. look at the big picture and quit yer whining. there's like at least 50 good reasons to do this.

  • @sockosockosocko You probably drive a preus with a rainbow sticker on the rear window don't you.

  • @MrHarleyheathen i drive an electrified classic. 2 yrs now and 10k miles. guess what, your disapproval puts you in the vaaaast minority. where are you getting your affordable, endless supply of dirty oil? enlighten us.

  • @sockosockosocko where are you getting your "clean" electricity from?? probably you're getting that electricity from Oil, Coal or Nuclear Powerplants. And there is the Problem, those plant's are NOT environmental friendly! What happens with the nuclear waste and all this...? I'm going to drive my 6 Cylinder for the rest of my life, even if i have to make my own "combustable material". At least i can say my home is environmental friendly, because i got solar panels,a heat pump and a wind turbine

  • @MrHarleyheathen watch?v=YdBHC_jm0Ms

  • It's like watching a train wreck in slowmo...

  • man i wish i had u guys to help me, i have a 87 and juss bought it, the engine needs to be rebult so am trying to take it out and its taking me sooo long and i havent even started with the mounts or any thing.

  • Yeah but the sound of the engine is half of the enjoyment of driving these old classics.

  • Congratulations, you ruined it.

  • Damn looks like someone put a lot of work into that Midget. Wow, look at that engine. Definitely a lot of hard work there. Such a classic. It's good to see people restore them like this. Wait... wtf are they doing? They're taking the engine out? But... it's in perfect working condition. The transmission too? Wtf? What the hell are they doing? Why?! WTF WHYYYY?!

  • I have to agree with the negative comments. Its shamefull to waste a perfectly restorable RWA chrome bumper Midget, regardless of intentions. To paraphrase Dylan Thomas; " rage, rage against the dying of the light"! Goodby MG Midget! :-(

  • What a fucking waste.

  • Seems like a waste to me, was it ever completed? Looks like a typical teraing down party, I'll bet there wasn't anyone showing up to fix it thought right?

  • Thanks for shitting up a classic.....You Band of Fucktards!!!!!

  • What the fuck is wrong with you guys...

  • lol, so what happened?? did you give up on the project??

  • lol, their only other video is one about the MG's engine being for sale!

  • seemed like a long time for all those uys to get that out... I can pull the 1275 and trans out of my '61 MkI in about 30-40 min by myself.

  • That's what I was thinking - why did it take so many people and so long to just remove an engine.

  • why convert a car that already gets >30mpg to electric?

(and has been doing so since the 1960's!)

Why not make a point and convert a @$% SUV?

  • so you couldnt have used a car that wasnt running? rather than using a perfectly good car that somebody put all that time into. no respect.

  • Poor car! Its a crime to kill such a classic.

  • I agree.

  • I don't, I have owned my Midget for some time now and it's fair to say there is plenty of them. Sacrificing 1 or 2 in the name or experintal learning is no shame. Don't get me wrong, if something as rare as a DAF 33 or Morris Ital was being used like this I would be upset, but Midgets and Minors are just asking or it. It's better than yet another twin webber conversion!

Keep up the good work guys, I may follow your lead some day...

  • I supose so. You know another good canadate is an old bug? theres 21,000,000 of them around the world, litteraly.

  • wouldn't mind converting a karman gia

  • @XCritonX - oh cmon, while MGs looked cool they werent any masterpiece of automotive engineering, this is a total improvement. (on the other hand it would be sacrilegious to desecrate a porsche 550 or a ferrari 250)

  • @XCritonX watch?v=1zhKMzMZ_eM

  • conversion that makes a good car to drive into a heavy slow car that cant go very far, and can't stop with all the added weight

  • Good luck with your convertion! I just got my Austin Healey Sprite(with many newer MG Midget components) running a couple of weeks ago. I posted a video response above that shows my test drive. I was surprised at how well it drives and handles as an electric car. I have the car stripped back done to the bare tub and am painting it now, but I hope to be driving it daily pretty soon.

  • I have an MGB GT 1967 that I have a great desire to convert to electric. Just a question of finance but some day.. some day..

    Nice work.

  • Yo Eric, I really hope you go with lithiums. Not enough space for lead.

  • Can't wait to see more. Your video has inspired me to look for an MG Midget to convert. Did you end up keeping the transmission?

  • I look forward to seeing the progress of this car .
