Oh my word what is this? The costumes? Far too modern, Jekynn & Hyde is set in the Victorian period. Do your research for costumes. Vocals are good though. I HATE when they try to make this a modern musical with modern costumes. It takes me out of the show, not into it. The ending was too abrupt and not even sung. Pitiful!
@ubercarrots But you have to realize that a costume gets you into character, and you simply CANNOT get into a victorian mind when it comes to separation of classes (which was so prominent back then) if you are in a 70's get-up. It will never work. The musical is set in that time period for a reason. I understand it's a high school production but that doesn't excuse the fact that the drama department should stay true to the script. VICTORIAN times, not DISCO times.
no offense too anyone, but the costumes don't show the large difference in 19th century London. the poor women are jus wearing tank tops and leggings, and the rich women are just wearing dresses & men are wearing suits. they should be a bit more creative.
I'm doing this show next month and some of the music here is not read well. The triplets are not sung properly, but that's just me.
I am an original Jekkie .... and I LOVE, love, love this interpretation of FACADE. It works well and it is most excellently sung. Frank Wildhorn must be awfully happy to hear yall sing this so nicely. It is not only sung well, but acted well too. Thanks a million for sharing your wonderful show
It was very good but some of the costumes seem a little too...modern for this show. I'm pretty sure I saw people in T-shirts and this show is supposed to take place in the 19th century.
well i do agree with the speed issue, i would also say that the melody was changed. i dont mind that this is done but for this kind of song you have to nail it and i dont think that happened. sorry, but interesting take....updated look interesting
i just don't get it. this or bring on the men. it doesn't work with the synthesizer and definently not the 70's deal. there's no class separation and it's supposed to be mid 19th century london. this whole poor and rich deal is such a huge theme in the show, it's ruined when you take that away. I'm sorry but it makes no sense. nice set though
The production was set in the 1970's rather than Victorian times, thus the dress. But what do you mean by "horrible audio"? To me it's crystal clear and well mixed.
This is AMAZING! I really want to go to this high school now, when we do musicals' there the funny light hearted ones, but I owuld love to just be a part of a company doing Jekyll and Hyde
I love the song im going to be part of a student show case at my community theater offten i use this one and Masquade from Phantom of the opera for a warm up. since they are some what of a tonge twister and they move around quite a bit range wise
This is definitely one of the better versions of this song on here. I was a bit confused when I saw the leather skirts on the prostitutes, but then I figured out it wasn't set in Victorian times, which is cool!
iLife is this a highschool. And although Theres a big stage... WAY to many people.

i agree with the others. its loses a lot of meaning and greatness with it being changed to the 70s. well performed though

I have one question. Why the 70s? Of all decades? The 70s? Like... I'm just so confused.... Great singing though.

@SHB0123 Doesn't work... I know people like to change the setting of literally EVERY single show to the ' 70's, but it doesn't work. Almost ever.

The only thing I found fault with was the speed. It picked up way too much speed at points.

This is version 2.0 of the show. Perhaps explains the change in melody?

Note the well dressed people on the right hand side. Lower classes on left.

the music itself sounds completely synthesized. Real instruments are much better in terms of effect IMO
garrettcurrie 1 year ago
Oh! Unexpected. It was a live orchestra. A fine orchestra, in fact. But I'm sure they had keyboards in there. Thanks.

My high school is doing this :D it seems like we do more moving around during this number than this group does. But they were great too ^_^

The costumes puzzled me. The time period wasn't consistent. But other than that I loved the set and lighting.

i think looking at the costumes they were trying to but it in modern england but im not sure i was just guessing

Though I can't help but wonder... where some of the guys wearing T-shirts? It looked like it...
cartmanclone515 3 years ago
Yes, it's supposed to be set in more modern times for this stage play. I much rather prefer Victorian era, it gives it more authenticity :)

I actually prefer it set in Victorian times, because I would like to stay true to Stevenson's plot as much as possible.

That is an awesome set. I'm jealous. And I hear that you Newton Summerstage is excellent, even if this wasn't your night.
