David Carradine made that flute, among others, and I believe it's actually the same one he is seen playing in Kill Bill. He did play, but that's not him playing on this soundtrack.
This is one of my favorite movies. That's not to say it's a "good" movie. But I can't help loving it, in spite of the horrible acting and mediocre martial arts (mainly from Jeff Cooper who was tragically miscast). David Carradine was a great actor and decent martial artist who poured himself into his roles. He was nowhere near the caliber of Bruce Lee. But it's hard to imagine this film without Carradine. Bruce's vision was so great that even diluted, it still shines through here.
@GenuineHeather You're right, it's not a great movie, but there's something hypnotic about the whole thing. If I'm surfing channels and come across it, I have to watch. Gotta love the dude in the oil.
Isn't a trailer supposed to make you WANT to watch a movie?
The movie is far better than this trailer would lead you to believe. But then, it is not the type of movie that can be summed up in 3 minutes and 3 seconds.
This is a great movie, I truly believe that if Lee had lived to collaborate with Carradine on this project martial arts would not have become the marginal pastime that they are today.
everybody hating on bruce lee shut the fuck up and check yourself fuck carradine he was shit only got roles cause of his dad. look it up before you start dissing bruce lee fuckin uneducated morons.
Anyone trying to find it, get the Flix movie channel, theyve been showing it on there almost every day for the last year (in fact, they are showing it right now as I type this)
It would have been alot better if it had Bruce Lee instead of Carradine, and James Coburn instead of the pathetic Jeff Cooper, who gives probably one of the five worst performances ever and pretty much brings the entire film down single handedly. I dont know what they were thinking by hiring him.
But it does have a line that makes me laugh every time:
"You mutilated him! You broke his nose! A beautiful boy!"
this was the movie that Bruce Lee was working before he died?!? i don't want to sound like an ass but...maybe it was a good thing Bruce died before this was made...yowzah!!! o_O
this movie sucked major ass, however it reminds me of my childhood--going to the movies downtown in the summertime, seeing the movie poster along with other comming attractions, i remember seeing a preview of 'moonraker' when this was out!
...well yes it was written by bruce lee, that doesn't make it uncritiqueable!....and the studio changed tha script to the point of it being unrecognizable from bruces original vision....so yes the novie the studio put out did suck. It has nothing to do with the original vision or script...don't take it personal its only an opinion.
...and saying the movie didnt suck would be doing bruce a disservice, sinc this film was totally not what he had in mind..from the fight choreography to the leading actor...the only thing that was close to what he wanted was some of the philosophy of carradines character.
I would REALLY like to see the clip of the Doctor (Eli Wallick) standing up to his chest in a jug of oil, voluntarily,, funniest clip in any movie I have EVER SEEN !!!
and you telling every person who's posted a negative comment about this movie shows that you missed the point...people are entitled to their opinions...we think it sucks...you and others think it's a great film...SO BE IT...the ONLY thing you didn't missed the point on was proving what an asshole you are!
Note that this trailer carries the original script title "the Silent Flute" later changed to Circle of Iron. The Silent Flute script was originally a Bruce Lee project-along with writer Stirling Siliphant and James Coburn. This was the second big LEE project that ended up with David Carradine taking Lee's Role.
You are exactly right BOD, I hated carridne for years because of this, really insulting in a way to me cause 1st he gets bruces Kung Fu seris then he does the same thing with the Silent flute playin again anather Bruce lee role and project, talk about riding the Dragons tail! BOGUS! I tolerate him now since he showed props for Brandon's death..
this comment only goes to show your ignorance of both of the men.
do some more research. I will agree that Bruce Lee wasn't an actor , but he was a philosopher and a martial artist.
Carradine was neither. which , was the whole point of the movie, and if you missed that , you were too busy looking at the finger , and missed the moon.
yOU ARE CORRECT, AGREED, Whenb the Blind man slaps Cord on the face and says, "How many times" is so remindful of Bruce to me, and the Scene where he kicks the boat apart apart after they cross the river, is so remindful, (To ME) of how JKD is like a boat to get you acroos the river, the boat is not to be carried on you back....
Great film... And very hard to run across. Highly underated take on the kind of mysticism that was sweeping the country during the 60's & 70's. A heady psychedelic mix of kung-fu, buhdist philosophy, and shaminism.
RIP David Carradine even though you died wacking off and ending up choking more than your chicken.

Uno dei piu' significativi film mai realizzati.
Bravissimo Corradine, e molto intelligente anche il messaggio.

After Lee abandoned the project, the original script was rewritten, replacing some violent scenes with comedic themes.
