That's why the patient could take up to months, even years in order to be free of the demon because it takes a rather long time for them to rule out all other causes until the only thing left IS demonic possession. -_-'

Split personality is clinically known as Dissociative Identity Disorder, and Schizophrenia is completely different. The patient doesn't show signs of multiple personality in any way. Most "possessions" are a mental disorder, hoax, misunderstanding etc.. but some possessions are real. Doctors would have looked into different things based on MEDICAL FACTS. medical treatment might not always work, but it has a higher chance of working then exorcisms -- which have no chance of working since demonic possessions aren't real. duh.

Many times i wonder why the demons was still possessing anneliese,s body even though in the name of Jesus was said to cast the demons out then i realized that God has a plan for everything it was meant to happen .Anneliese wrote a letter she said Mary the mother of Jesus appear to her and told her she had two choices either to allow or not allow the demons to possess her , if she doesn't allow it the demons will live her alone , but if she does she will safe many people's life.

When i was little growing up I never knew of anything like this never heard of any exorcisms or demons or spirits or anything like that NEVER told about any of it i never seen this movie as a child and when i was a kid i would clearly see dead people i could speak to them hear them see te future and the past I have been checked out for everything poor Anneliese did and it came back that I had none of it! that my gifts where true I believe Anneliese was telling the truth

This is a really sad real life story...I felt so bad for the girl it was actually based on...Poor thing developed a mental disorder-and died because she thought that she was possessed.

@countrygurl16ily first, she stopped taking meds after she was convinced that she was possessed. second, assuming medical treatment really wouldn't have worked, that doesn't mean she was possessed. it just means that the medical treatments didn't work. Doctors would have looked into different things based on MEDICAL FACTS. medical treatment might not always work, but it has a higher chance of working then exorcisms -- which have no chance of working since demonic possessions aren't real. duh.

I experienced terrifying recurring paralysis during sleep where I felt a weight was pressing down upon me and preventing me from moving. When my children started having nightmares, and I got creeped out after sleeping in their room one night, I went to confession and told my parish priest my experiences and told him I had 2 books by Aleister Crowley-"Liber Aleph" and "Magick-in theory & Practice" in my home. He instructed me to burn the books while reciting the Apostles Creed. We sleep well now.

Webster defines rational as understanding. We gain understanding through experience. My experience is that both paganism & Catholism are valid, one for earthly rewards & one for eternal rewards. My belief in God is just as valid if worshipers of russ believe or not. I note that your atheism seems dependant on trying to discredit my beliefs. You have failed. This story is probably true.
My mind is not allowing me to believe that the life emerged from non-organic,unlive matter like water as Darwin said.Imagine the moment when the life appeared,doesn't matter if it was bacteria as Darwin said or else... i will never accept that life can emerge on itself...from what reason,why...we have clear reason today and they say we all come from bunch of hot gas--big bang.

Many times i wonder why the demons was still possessing anneliese,s body even though in the name of Jesus was said to cast the demons out then i realized that God has a plan for everything it was meant to happen .Anneliese wrote a letter she said Mary the mother of Jesus appear to her and told her she had two choices either to allow or not allow the demons to possess her , if she doesn't allow it the demons will live her alone , but if she does she will safe many people's life.

It's curious how Anneliese ended up looking like Lena Zavaroni when she suffered the advanced stages of Anorexia nervosa. According to the documentry, she felt that there was something else within preventing her feeling anything or prevented her from helping herself (or something like that). That sounds similar to diluted form of posession, whether it's real or psychlogical.
