Dr. Mario came out in 1990, so yeah, it's definitely not ripping off puyo puyo. Like I said, if anything, Puyo Puyo is blatantly ripping off Dr. Mario. It's not exactly the same, but you would have to be blind to not see the obvious similarities. Honestly, I think that Tetris has to be the only popular puzzle game that is any older.

All of these debates are Ironic, because the thing is that you can trace this game back to Dr. Mario for the NES, this is essentially what all of these games are ripping off from the get go. So even if this game is a ripoff of Puyo Puyo, and even if that means it's a re-done Mean Bean Machine that doesn't matter or mean a single thing. The fact remains that these games are blatantly ripping off Dr. Mario, which is a original Nintendo classic. So STFU, and GTFO!

This game is not a rip-off of Mean Bean Machine. Mean Bean Machine is a localization of the Mega Drive version of Puyo Puyo, and Kirby's Avalanche is a localization of the Super Famicom version of Puyo Puyo.

Nintendo didn't make the game. Look up "Puyo Puyo", which was made by Compile. Compile then rebranded the game towards Kirby and Dr. Robotnik.

So it is neither Sega nor Nintendo's property :-) Kinda like Soul Calibur 2. Sure, Link was in the Gamecube version, but that doesn't mean Nintendo owned SC2.
