Dane spent months thinking of how to get back at Anonymous somehow as he said it fucked with his head. By making this story up Anonymous has to either expose himself and say "I never said that my father is fine" or live with people believing this fake 'last laugh' story.
Fan backlash can be avoided by simply abandoning the account but by making this fake story famous whichever way the man himself decides to act Dane gets back at the man behind the account.
By either frustrating him with the world laughing at something he didn't even write and having to just sit there and take it.
Or by forcing him to expose who he is to angry Dane fans just so he can defend himself....cunning.
