Avatar was plagiarised from a book called "Judgement on Janus" by Andre Norton, written in 1963. The original story was awesome, with a sequel called "Victory on Janus" following shortly afterwards. I did a speech on Avatar ..in my view it is clearly a depiction of the Europeans that went to Africa to get slaves and also those that came to America & did the same to the Natives. bump the soldier who felt convicted, we know that really didn't happen that much, until maybe a few whites through themselves right into the civil rights movement with MLK. other than that, it's about a universal struggle of an underclass and subjugated peoples in a united effort against the man.

It's called "subtext" which is used in many major motion pictures which tells the story of contemporary history. Example: Wizard Of Oz - Scarecrow needed a brain, Lion needed courage, Tin Man needed a heart. They each represent parts of society. Farmers were brainless (they're our survivors); Government was spineless (still is); industry was heartless (no benefits when dad was killed at work, children mangled in factories, etc.) it still is today. The story is the growth or healing of it all.

it's funny that you assume that the pre-collonial culturs would have survived intact today. the reality of the sittuation is that the culturs that we recognize as structural societies were in severe decline prior to the europian settlement of the new world, the aztecs were on a steep decline resulting from years of drout and civil war when columbus land in the carribian.

except that all 'indiginous', 'tribal' people will eventually become advanced. it's just what we do. our eyes tend to deceive us, we see ourselves as 'black' or 'white'. in reality there is one race, one genome. that genome causes us to create tools, to compensate for our lack of fur and sharp teeth. it will always end this way, whether the advancing people are red, white, black whatever. eventually the native americans would have advanced and taken europe, just like what happene here.
