@Hogasofa Yes, I learnt to fly a hangglider off a hill first, built up airtime and experience, then added power. In the UK the British Hang Gliding and Paragliding Association (BHPA) devises our training syllabus. Learning to winch tow would probably be a quicker route as the flying sensations are more similar- takeoff from a flat field and climb. Pete
@flyingleek is there ANY rating given for POWERED HANG GLIDING, like there is the PPG rating for powered paragliding? IF so, what is the name of the rating given for powered hang gliding?
@3333sweetie Sorry, I don't know the rules in your country, maybe your National Ultralight Association are the governing body for powered hang gliding? Pete
@3333sweetie If the empty weight is less than 254 pounds and it dont hold more than 5 gallons of fuel...you dont need anything...i dont think there is an age requirement either.look up ultralight flying regulations to check my facts because it might be different for different parts of the country
could you get the bar in enough for pitch control? i suppose you could move your hang point further forwards if needed.. but awesome! i'd like a go at that! :o)
Arms halfway up the uprights (downtubes in US) means stronger force needed for all inputs- pitch and roll. Flying with any speed for more than a few minutes means aching arms unless I hook my backside over the basebar (basetube). Many people prefer the comfort of seated flying.
i tried (briefly) seated flying on the weekend. very nice! didn't get much of a go because from launch onwards, i was scratching to stay up on a no-bottom-landing site. but awesome to fly supine! makes a lot of sense for non-competitive (rec) flying!
About 2-3 litres an hour at 25mph airspeed, groundspeed varies with wind speed and direction. Assuming no wind it probably does 50 miles per gallon, more if travelling downwind, less upwind.
what song is this one?

@flyingleek I'm from the US, so I wanted to know if there's ANY rating given for powered hang gliding here, since I couldn't find it on google.

That's...actually pretty darn economical. Especially considering travelling in straight lines vs roadbound.
