Actually now that I think of it my window was open. Air coming in would have pushed the air up the back and above my desk.
Its either the voice coil or the amp, it has 2 large heatsinks and gets quite warm. It's currently stuck right in the corner with stuff on top so theres next to no airflow.

amps get warm, its not the amp. the voice coil is burning and it kind of makes you cough and choke...

that burning smell was the voice coil on the sub starting to burn up. aka blowing a sub = that smelly noise.
if you want to keep the sub, i highly suggest you lay back on the bass EQ

Yeah thats what I thought but the smell was coming from above the desk not below.

I might mod some fans and a switch on it :)
