Thanks for showing that mixer. But as far as comparing motors, you really need to compare to a tilty KA with a dough hook, not the pigtail. The hook needs more torque, as the dough rides around, intermittently skidding against the sides of the bowl, making the motor sound like it's laboring -- which it may not be.
As far as comparing function, KA's pigtail is superior to the dough hook, which isn't spectacular on any mixer, but worse on tilt-styles where you can't lock the bowl.
Bought brand new Kennmore 400 and first thing out of the box the beater scratched the bowl. It is not aligned right. We tried to adjust the arm to raise it a little so that the beaters don't touch the bowl. Now the arm won't lock in place, so that when you are kneading a lump of dough the arm jumps up and down. I was trying to knead a 2 lb recipe and it strained on it and also the dough "walks" up the hook. I am returning to Sears for Kitchen Aid Pro.
NOT a FAIR comparison. First of all, you are comparing a Kitchenaid mixer that has an MSRP almost twice that of the Kenmore. To be fair, you should be comparing it to the basic Kitchenaid that has about the same price tag. Of course the professional HD is going to be more powerful. It has 175 more watts!..and it should have more for the price tag. And, to be more scientific, you should be starting from scratch with the Kitchenaid too.. not just putting the already mixed dough into it.
@pappalindo you can get a larger kitchenaid at sam's for about 20 more dollars that has none of the issues that the kenmore had i posted a review on this mixer as well and had the same result when i was trying to make a batch of cookies it sounded like it was going to chew itself to death not to mention it strained its ass off to the point we shut it off and finished the cookies by hand. even my moms smaller wattage kitchenaid didnt sound that bad and was able to do the job easier
thanks for posting this!!!! I just saw the kenmore and was thinking about it until I saw this video. No question about it. I'll save a little more for the KA.
Aren't Kitchenaids assembled in Ohio? The Pro-600 series has ALL metal gears, meaning even the planetary gear is now metal and not plastic. I'm not sure about the Artisans.
Thats wierd? i noticed that when you first turned it on there was a slight pause before it moved, never seen a mixer do that before :/

neat video, KA has a different hook though. the kenmore is a KA clone and both are made in china and not very well
