  • Great program, but it doesn't seem to work on every file. I've tried an mp3 but it wouldn't render. It did render other mp3's though.

  • I need serious help with this program: How to I save it? I can't get it to save as an actual file to anything, nor can I find it if I do save it! Please, help!

  • holy fucking crap this program is AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Ok. I used this program for 3 minutes. Now I love it.

  • my sounds always come out airy and blurred could u help? thx

  • This program makes me discover a new world of music, awesomene :-)

  • this song sounds like it should be in mass effect of some other space type game

    thumbs up man

  • @Legen007 Very true.. Mass Effect!

  • I just tested this program. Whoever Paul is, he deservers a Nobel prize or something. This program is unbelievable.

  • Paul's Extreme Sound Stretch

  • WOW! That song is great!

  • how does the stretched sample load into FL? it's obviously something that is either done auotmatically, or you've set something up between the two programs. How does it work?

  • @inthefurnace You can load the rendered audio in as Audio Clips in FL. Simple as that!

  • @zirconst When I preview it IN Paul's Extreme Sound Stretcher it sounds distorted before I even touch anything. Could it have to do with the Windows size/resolution?

  • @inthefurnace nice track!

  • @jsemdevka ?

  • It sounds very much like Edison's blur.

  • @Trancefreak12 yea it does, because of the reverb fx

  • when you said it was free i jumped through my roof

  • I NEED A PROGRAM TO CHANGE MY VOICE TO JUSTIN BIEBERS VOICE, I WANNA RECORD A HELLO RECORDING FOR MY NIECE WHO LOVES HIM, WITHOUT HAVING TO STALK J. BIEBER OR GO TO HIS CONCERTS AND SPENDING A LOT OF MONEY. LOL THANKS

  • @rockbutt123 I dont think that is possible.. :P

  • thanks men.. great help :D

and keep on sounds nice :P

  • When I downloaded this, the only program that came up was the one at 0:23. Was the other program not associated with PaulStretch?

  • I knew that was done with that tool, Paul stretch rocks!!!

  • thanks!

  • Nice piano playing

  • audiosurf would probably crash trying to play this song lol

  • you are the best in sound , holy cow

  • what does old chorus songs sound like sped up?

  • ok i feel like i'm missing something. how do u upload the file onto the program? because i have a song picked out but it just won't let me pull it up for some reason.

  • OMG THATS AWESOME!!!!!

  • awesome

  • ....WTF O__O

  • is it possible to see were the sound is coming from(3d sound)

  • 1:14 - LOL! My choir teacher always talked about being "# cents flat" or "# cents sharp". xD

  • That is some amazing shit. This program's algorithm is way better than any other stretching method I know. By just playing around you can get the most amazing pads and other sounds. I'm now listening to one of my songs stretched 8 times and I am blown away.

    Thanks zircon. You da man.

  • DO YOU HAVE IT FOR WINDOWS 64BIT?

  • I still get a lot of crackles when using this programme??

  • Thhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaannnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkk yyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooouuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu

  • How come I can't render my track :S

  • it's NOT windows only. for MAC version: just google "paulstretch mac" and look for the most recent results.

  • Oh my God!! I almost fell asleep in with the track. It was soo relaxing!

  • well put together, nice work on the track also

  • how do you save files from paulstretch?, having problems

  • @danlyboobs Click the "write to file" tab, click "select all" if you want to use the whole track and then click "render selection". Then choose which folder you want to save it in, and then type a name for the file after the folder name (as at 4:04 in the video).

  • windows only!!!! MUHAHAHAHAHHAH !!!

  • (continued) As for the Window Size control, he explains it on the download page; it's basically a trade-off between frequency resolution and noise. He recommends a Window of 7-12k for best results.

Finally, note the EXTREME stretching you can do. Max stretch is one BILLION times, turning a less than 3-minute song into a texture theoretically lasting over 100 years.

  • Oops, I read it wrong. over 5000 years, not 100.

  • Howdy. Having just discovered this software and playing around with it tonight, I looked on Google for specific information on the process effects and found your tutorial. Nice work!

You keep saying this is Windows only, but what I think you mean is that there is no OSX version specifically. Paul released the program as Windows binaries and linux sourcecode.

  • this is a fantastic and very powerful tool, thank you for presenting it (and paul for programming it)

  • I didn't know anything from FL Studio could sound good. Fantastic job!

  • You should check out portal credits theme slowed down 800%, just for good listening.

  • I used to make this kind of "music" on my Playstation with MTV Music Generator when I was kid. Wouldn't really call it talent or music.

  • Hey Zircon,

I thought you'd find this funny: right after I rendered three songs with Paul's Extreme Sound Stretch, I immediately found this tutorial. Heh, I wish I had found it beforehand!

Thank you for pointing out the practicality of this software, as it would be great for some ambient tracks, as well as ambient percussion and such. :)

  • Zircon is an awesome remixer of OCremix.

  • Is it possible to make automation clips in fl studio of the actions you do in Paul's Extreme Stretcher ?

  • @WeazelBeats This program is not a plugin, so it can't be loaded into FL (and thus, can't be automated.) Most powerful time stretchers like this are not real-time.

  • @WeazelBeats What you could do is render various versions of one sample from Paul's Extreme Stretcher, import it to FL Studio and automate the volumes on those various samples. Could for example be one normal sample and another sample one octave below. It creates some interesting sound... just be creative with it mate ;)

  • @WeazelBeats No

  • That sounds amazing =P

  • Please explain how you can slow down something 800%. If you slow it down 100%, the you have already reached zero, so you can't slow it down any further.

  • @realisticHomeboy It's an awkwardness of English. If you "slow it down 100%", you are intending to say you are stretching it to take twice as long. Likewise, "slow down something 800%" would mean to stretch it eight times longer.

  • @Zarggg I know what they mean by it, but it's wrong use of words.

  • Has a nice Enigma sound to it....

  • Your wife sounds like Frou Frou's singer...

    /envious

  • hey, can this program be used to make songs?(im really into techno :P)

  • okay, that just totally blew my mind.

  • So this is a tutorial on how to make anything, even justin beiber, sound epic? NICE! :D

  • Is it normal that when I play it at 1x speed, it has no bass? Could it be my computer insides? Its not my headphones. any help apreciated!

  • Great stuff! What kind of microphone do you use to record your tutorials?

  • @thomerow An MXL V67 condenser with a pop screen - check out my "Roland V-Synth Unboxing" video to see it!

  • @zirconst Thanks for the quick answer! I was just curious because the sound quality is so good.

  • you always surprise me with the tutorials ; )

  • Hi.

I am Paul Nasca, the author of Paulstretch. I have seen your tutorial and I like it very much.

  • @zynaddsubfx Hey Paul, thank you for such an amazing program! Glad you liked my humble video... :) I love your other work as well.

  • @zynaddsubfx Hey paul you haven't planned of doing anything like this for the mac that can be used with logic? It sure sounds cool to be able to do that, nice to do these soundscapes in ambientmusic with it and alot of other stuff aswell.

  • @zynaddsubfx thanks so much, awesome program, really amazing once i got in to sound design with it

  • @zynaddsubfx how does it work??? :D

  • I've downloaded a MAC version. I've tried several different WAV format songs and, though it works, it does so with a terrible crackling noise that completely disrupts the entire point of the program. Any help? Wonderful music!

  • Thanks man, I downloaded it and am slowing some random cool songs I have. I like it all but I cant upload it all. Thanks!!! The program would be better if it were easier to navigate to find your music. But, its free, so... juniortore1 better STFU :D

  • its not windows only, im running it on mac

  • @paralelSun Ah, indeed, I stand corrected - it was not originally programmed for OSX but it seems like a fan converted it. Mac users, search for "Paul Stretch Kent Williams" or "Paul Stretch Mac" on Google and you should find the link (it's on a blog) pretty quick.

  • @zirconst :D ... used the prog for a while.... other than PT.. its the highest quality stretcher... nothing comes close 700%+

  • Very ATB-esque. You deserve his fanbase too!

  • Great tips/tutorial!

  • Does anyone else have this problem in Fl Studio where it sounds "sparkly*" or "buzzy" when you have too much stuff. I can fix it by increasing the Buffer Length in the audio settings but then I get a delay instead.

Is it possible to solve this by getting a better sound card or is it the CPU that's too weak or maybe I just need to change some settings?

I realized this is more of a forum question but whatever.

Zircon is awesome. Pixie as well.

  • @CpKakah That is just an issue with your CPU + audio drivers being unable to keep with realtime audio processing. Switching to ASIO drivers often helps (Asio4All), but ideally you want a better soundcard than the integrated chip on most motherboards. This will definitely help your PC's audio processing ability. However, at some point, a faster CPU is all you can do.

  • soundcloud [dot] com/shamantis/j-biebz-u-smile-800-slower for everyone who didn't know the slow version until now. And thanks for the tutorial. :]

  • Awesome as always.

It's a really nice ambient track.

  • Funny how you mention this a couple of days after i uploaded a sample out of it :v

    Nothing special, just saying :3

  • @jontecool92 Haha, well to be honest I've been using this software for awhile and I wasn't going to tell anybody about it because it was kind of a musical 'secret weapon' for awesome pads and textures. But now that everyone knows, I thought I'd share how you can use it on non-song material with great success.

  • @zirconst That's wasn't very nice ;3

  • Breathing You In is my favorite of your music~ I bought the album and it was worth every penny~

  • I lol'd when you said "SIxto, my guitarist".

  • Awesome program :3

    And the song was breathtaking

  • aweosme dude... i can really see the use of that program...
