  • urah

  • Now that's dedication...

  • He was not ready for that situation was he :p

    LOLZ.

  • Intense lol

  • I use that exact saw and I love it!

  • maybe a poncho dave...great job!!!

  • Bahco laplander FTW!

  • how tall is dave ??

  • Good work man. Keep it up! Love dual survival! Greetings from Sweden!

  • i used to like this channel till he did that tv show with the giant homo. that show just make them both look stupid.

  • @TheWTFSOB I disagree, that show made cody look stupid, dave was the shit! It was always cody bitchin' like a little girl about this that and the other thing and it was always dave just standing there saying "whatever man" thinking in his head - stupid hippy -

  • @Takkantis daves cool just sayin the show sux

  • @TheWTFSOB Then don't watch, unlike you we are here because we want to be and enjoy Dave taking his time/money/knowledge to make these videos so we can get his opinions and learn from each other. On a side note I'd like to see you tell Cody how you feel about him, I think it would be funny seeing him squish you into a useful human oragami with his guns!

  • @MarcoMontana22 HAHAH you must be gay for the big homo.

  • Love ya Dave. Keep up the great work.

  • whoa! settle down.... youre a little too excited.

  • I'm new to this so I'm learning something every time I watch your vids or Dual Survival. I'm curious, where is your school located? Do you ever come to Illinois?

  • Ok not that was funny!!

  • LOL dam LOL not like getting wet Dave

  • @M109RDOWNUNDER bear also stays at hotels, has other people build his rafts, and lies to his viewers. and yes, those things have been proven. now, with that being said, i do still have some respect for bear. how many other people (with the exclusion of the co-stars of dual survival and les stroud) do you see doing this stuff?

  • @ja2595 Sorry you did not get my sarcasm, Bear is a wanker, an actor in front of a camera, and I don't have any respect for Bear in any way, just another opportunistic money maker. Here in Australia we have/had some more real survivalist, and no not Mr.crikey that died from a stingray sting! But lets not forget Rambo and Chuck Norris! anyway have a great xmas!

  • @M109RDOWNUNDER haha, nah i didn't catch it. the funny thing about steve irwin's death is that his last recorded words were "i'll be fine. they don't swim backwards". but thanks, i hope you have a great christmas too.

  • @M109RDOWNUNDER And you're dumb enough to believe that. You should do it too.

  • @freewill51 I will insure my sarcastic joke is a bit more on a childish level, to insure you get it!

  • Hurry up Dave! Rain means hypothermia you need a shelter and fire! Dont forget to collect water.

  • Hey Dave, the MSR container you show in this video, how large is it? When I looked it up, I didn't realize they would have such an odd selection. I have a SealLine dry bag that I was going to use in making a 10 piece kit, & I was curious about which size would likely fit in the bag the best. I apologize in advance if you've already answered this, I haven't read through all the comments left on this video. Thank you for everything you share with the world! Peace!

  • dave, big fan for long time love yr mag. its amazing to me how vids like yrs maybe not as much b4 but now that u r on tv an all seems like u should be getting 500,000 easy with such vauble info and good free lessons yet vids like "butt shake" im shure hit 1,000,000 makes me wish for a disaster some times to purify the plannet..

  • hi dave, been into yr vids for years now (even though yr a buckeye) but really u have tought me a ton. i love yr systems u have developed and the way u share thx. self reliance ill is great also the best mag just renued plan on geting scrips for buddys this holliday thank u for yr work on that mag its one of a kind

  • Man...take a breath dave---are you smokin' krank before you shoot a vid??--bwahahahahahaaa--love your stuff DC!!

  • had to do the 'hurry up and finish' for rain and you never missed a beat. True pro. That's why I watch!

  • Trying to 'out-run' raindrops;-) I believe that is the quickest I've ever seen/heard you make a presentation.

  • "Entire cultures have been built around containers!" - I love that line. Too true.

  • @renter6

True and it is also true that entire industries have been built around Divorce. That's why so many of us choose to go camping without the spouse so that we still have a pot to piss in.

  • @ianrsigel

    LMAO.....good one man

  • Hi Dave thanks for the video. What size stowaway pot are you using? The 775ml or 1.1liter? Thanks

  • drive on davw

  • common sense is the key, and you have it in bucket loads. ;-)

  • You were on a enviromental time constraint there... stay alert, stay alive....

  • Dave,

I always love your vids where you talk about kit item preferences. They help to break it down into what really works.

    Thanks for all your vids

  • I think he should of added an umbrella to the kit

  • I heard that charcoal tabs are a great thing for absorbing a bad toxins and all in your gut. Do you know if that's true or not?

  • Comment removed

  • This whole idea, not just this video, but survival based training for folks who aren't as fortunate as us who were raised that way is a genius idea. It applies to so many scenarios including an economic crash, or war of some sort, and both don't seem to far fetched at this point. Keep em coming fellas.

  • yes but also like dave said you have to know the surrounding area and different recsources that ecosystam contains

  • I understand what you're saying at the beginning of this video. Basically you're saying that if you lived in an area like Oregon or the Northwest versus say an area like Texas where there are less natural resources such good water supply, great availability of game and various plants you would have a better chance at survivabilty.

  • Kit is 100% trustworthy. I'm real interested in the diamond sharpening stick. The extra saw is awesome! Iodine is a must. Would a small container of bleach be useful? Just asking...

  • @robcas631 I'm not Dave but bleach has a shelf life that is quite shorter than that of iodine tabs and require careful packing and padding; 1 drop can render ur entire pack/pouch/pocket STINKY for quite some time and can actually damage some materials.

    Have a fun day.

  • @seekertrth I don't know if our RX stores sell Iodine OTC. I thought it was freaking weird. I asked the Parmacist what the problem was he never answered my question. So, I don't know if it's to stop terrorists or crack heads?

  • @robcas631 Go to an outdoor store; water purification tablets are iodine tabs. There is 1 brand that has 2 bottles; 1 for the purification, the other to help w/ the taste of the 1st 1. I prefer my Hiker purifier pump, I couple that w/ a Universal carbon filter for the chemicals found in most water sources these days.

I do keep some tabs in a belt pouch as an EDC, they r good for 5 yrs, unopened, 6 mnths after opening.

  • @seekertrth RegaRrding the outdoors store--great idea. Thanks man!

  • @robcas631 O, I wanted to say that the tinctiture of iodine takes the same packing conderations as bleach as it is usually sold in glass vials and it requires some additional care for use, sorry I didn't include that in my 1st reponse (senior moment, lol).

  • @seekertrth Man, I love the book. It's straightforward and a pleasure to read. I have been telling my friends what a treasure it is! Dave is a wealth of knowledge! Carry on brother!

  • @robcas631 re:diamond stick, (prt 1)

it's alright but I found an item caled a slipstone (angled on 1 side/ saws, etc, rounded /serrations, etc, flatside for reg. use); LOVE it! It's the same size as a field stone so it slips right in the pocket. O, the come in 2 types; hard + soft, one is for rough work, the other for fine. I got mine @ a woodworking store, ask @ the counter which is which, I forgot (early old age, lol)

  • @seekertrth Will do and regarding age you must remember that you are getter bolder not older! Or so I say. lol

  • @robcas631 re: diamond stick (prt 2)

The only down side is that it needs a lube, spit in a pinch but I use an old nasal sprayer (cleaned out really, REALLY good) to keeep a bit of oil in. ForU will need some anyway if u have a multi-tool or anything w/ a hinge (saw). I use mineral oil in mine b/c if I need to use it on my knife, then cut food, no poisenous petroleum or other chemicals, mineral oil will pass no prob.

  • @seekertrth Eye glass cleaner bottles are good too. Before oil was available steam engines were lubricated with something they called tallow. Basically boiled down pigs/ hogs fat. Just an FYI .

  • @robcas631 Yeah, didn't think about the eye glass cleaner bottles (should have, wear glasses). Also,I really appreciate u giving the tip about tallow but I was already aware of it. I would use that ONLY in an extreme situation (removed from civilzation for an extended time, can be made from virtually any fat). Reason being is that the tallow was used but the downside is that it can go rancid, it was worn off the moving parts in the engine so fast it wasn't a concern there.

  • @seekertrth They are strong and can be used for many other things. Add clean water and you can wash your eyes out. I imagine steam engines back in the day must have smelled like one big porl chop? lol

  • I like that philosophy you had for the container/mess kit. That is why I came up with my idea for the canteen mess kit video. To be able to have a compact yet versatile kit to use for multiple containers.

  • Hi Dave and Iris, its your biggest Fan fae Scotland ,just wanting to thank you all for the dual survival series, surpassed all my expectation's,and hope that there is another chance for a 3rd Series, however in the meantime it is great to have you back making YT vids as now you have done a bit more travelling and meeting different cultures and learning their self-reliance skills ,i know theirs going to be some good vids, your an awsome teacher and your knowledge and skills are second to none,TinTin

  • i swear Dave posts a vid every 3 days lol good job

  • fair play for hanging around in the rain to finish the vid! :)

  • Great videos Dave. Is that the skunk hat?

  • can you make a small game sling shot hunting video

  • Great job and advice. Take care bro. KEEP ON PREPPING

  • i think comfort and survival are the same , ma natures way to say if you need to fight or conserve.

the plus in life is coserving valuble energy that is life. those things really help.

    thanks

  • :) the rain ....

  • Hey Dave, i have been watching your youtube vids for several years now. I have been watching videos from other people recently, and i have noticed that you have influenced a huge amount of people. that is a testament to you and your abilities. your teachings are sound and your kit mentallity is very flexable. please keep the videos coming. i hope to god that dual survival has many more seasons to come.

  • @okiewoodsman i agree but dual survival has not been on for 2 weeks now. :( :'(

  • Can anyone tell me the best place to get extra slingshot bands and pouches?

  • @ConstrictorsINC any sporting good store

  • @ConstrictorsINC try bass pro shop or most gun shops carry them. I also noticed they come with different draw weights I bought two slingshots one with a blue band & a crossman with a yellow band the yellow band had a stronger draw weight.

  • mahalo for saying Hawaiian sling!! thats something i think about with my slingshot bands multi use!

  • lol damn came a gully washer didn't it! Another freat post bro!

  • great job dave, keep it up!

  • This about the show, you guys should request a different scenario, stay with cody and maybe add someone else.and make it a long term survival thing, aka end of the world type, also it can be done in parts for a whole season.i have seen one show like it,but it was done in the city/urban area both seasons i've seen it,lol can't remember the name though.the getting recued thing is getting old,too many shows doing it.just a thought.

  • @slowtaknow I believe the show you're speaking of is called "The Colony" I haven't seen season 2, but season 1 was amazing!

Your idea about making a long term social collapse survival with Dave and Cody would be great.

  • @D33Lux Then you should definitely check out season 2..it makes you want the 3rd, and I use to hate that show lol.

  • When you have treated your water with iodine or chlorine you kan use ascorbic asid to take away the bad flawor. Be sure that your water is safe to drink before you put in the ascorbic asid because it will take away the potenty of the iodine / chlorine...

    Happy trails

  • You need an external mic! :)

  • hey dave can you do a video on your fire kit?

  • @survival919 He's actually got a lot of videos on the setups he uses for starting fires. If you go to the channel and go to the playlist section he's got them all bundled together. HTH! :)

  • I love the power with you end this video! you are truly a model...

  • I would like to see you and Cody each take your own 10 piece kit be droped on the North Plate river at dusk split up at day brake stay 2-3 yards from each other on the oppsite sides of the river, and do you own thing so we could see how you 2 will be diffrent or not so dif in the fall no tents, tarps ok and no hammocks. for a week. I like to see it more like your makeing or own primative camp site and you have a week an at the end of the week both talk and share what they did .

  • nice additions.

  • Damn Dave is amazing.. My hero

  • Thanks for the video.. confirms what I have learned over the years... 2 is one and one is none. Always good to have backups for your backups.

  • im surprised you didnt have your famous goretex jacket that you like to wear

  • Another terrific educational video from Dave! He is always so pumped up when he is talking, you can;t help but pay attention and get all stoked about going out and practicing your bushcraft/survival skills!!!

Very inspirational, knowledgeable, and legit!! Puts a lot of the other survivalists on youtube to shame!

  • that sucks you got caught in a down pour

  • If it aint raining we aint training!

  • Dave,

    Why no hawk ?

  • Dave got trolled by the rain dancer

  • Great videos! One small suggestion... buy a tripod...

  • @moger76

Dave has a vid where he shows his video equipment, one being a heavy cast tripod. Someone is holding this shot.

  • What i wanna know is how are Dave and Cody so buff if they're only eating grubs and leaves?

  • @mean71cuda I know that's a joke haha??

  • @mean71cuda Well they don't spend their lives in the wilderness. Most of their meals are pretty normal i would imagine, and the times they do spend in the wilderness is good exercise.

  • Reporting on the fly...That's the reality folks!

  • Thank Dave. Stay dry!

  • speaking of containers. dumb question, the metal water bottles you see at walmart with the O ring on the cap, cant they be used to heat water to disinfect water?

  • @zac030101 Look at his vid series I believe called "The common mans survival kit". In one of them he adds a metal water bottle like those you can get at walmart. He even goes into how to put a darkened finnish on the bottle that is fire proof If I recall corectly. Its an older vid, about 2 years old.

  • @Kellett781 ive seen that vid, but he doesnt say where he got it? looking to get some and dont know where to go

  • @zac030101 For the common mans kit that he puts together, in the vids it shows him shopping army navy surplus, the dollar store, walmart, and a good will. Just take a look at what he has in this vid, and then think of where you could get such things for your own kit on the cheap. For example... my mother orders a coffee that comes in a metal can wtih pop top plastic lid. They make great pots, and I put other items in them to make a kit that I give as gifts. Think "improvise".

  • @Kellett781 ive been useing a coffie can to hold some gear and i agree they make great emergencey pots

  • @Kellett781 great points, I've made a small wood stove out of one of those metal coffee cans nothing great, but as you mentioned "improvise".

Keep the great vids coming Dave!

  • @D33Lux For my can stoves, I tend to use soup cans because they are smaller. A bunson burner is what they were called when I was in scouting. Roll up card board as tight as you can and push down into the soup can. Then poor in new or recycled candle wax. They work great and give off a surpriseing amount of heat and they are always ready for when you need them. And done correctly, its a survival item that can litteraly cost you nothing.

  • @zac030101 Yeah, make sure it's not aluminum. Some are lined with some kind of germ killer, that's not good either. I think some are built like a thermos as well(a bottle within a bottle) don't use that either.

What you want is a straight stainless steel bottle.

  • @instantsiv ty for the info. where could i find the bottle i need?

  • @zac030101 no the tops will melt

  • I subbed! Great information

  • Thanks Dave! Your information is always vital and extremity important in today's world. 5 *****'s

  • Good stuff

  • Great info, keep it up!

  • Dual Survival Rocks! Keep up all the good work.

  • Nice push through the rain. As always, good video.

  • Excellent video as always, but guys, you're fading out too early...

  • Man, that rain was coming in fast and hard. You were nearly speaking as fast as me. lol.

  • @seanmulhall you dont talk "that" fast sean

  • Great vid Dave. Thanks for braving the rain to get her done.

    Nate

  • you are certinaly a mans man. thank you for your work and I/WE will be watching :)

  • in your opinion which is better potassium permanganate or iodine solution? thanks love your vids too man :)

  • you guys getting much rain in Ohio Dave. I'm across Lake Erie in Ontario. We're in a drought right now i wish i got that rain!

  • Hey Dave, send some of that rain here to Oklahoma brother. LOL Hasn't rained here in a few weeks. We are in a drought right now. Kinda sucks.

  • @sdkkrew all I did was comment on his taco video.. said it wasn't a taco if you put beans in it.. add beans and its a burrito so yankeeprepper cursed me out and banned me from his channel without being able to retort. thank God for real survivalist like @wildernessoutfitters is all I gotta say.

  • @chopski007 A burrito doesn't have anything to do with what's in it at all. A burrito is simply food wrapped up in a tortilla. A taco can have beans, or rice, just like it can have lettuce, and tomato. A taco is a shell that is folded, and filled with food. It can be fried(hard), or grilled, or just heated up till warm.

@ATFMILITIA I feel ya! We went almost 8 months without rain here (El Paso, Tx/Juarez, Mexico area) this passed year.

    @wildernessoutfitters Well done, as always!!!

  • @chopski007 yankeeprepper is on something serious

  • Where does he get his hats. I ned to know.

  • Thanks SO MUCH for the real life info and help!

  • RedundanC's. Very nice. Thanks for another great video Dave.

  • just a random thought. have you ever considered putting rain gear in your gear.

  • Man i wish it would rain where i live it goes right around the valley i live in here in wyoming LOL! so i get to watch it hit both sides just not where im at HAHA! But another Great video Botha!

  • invaluable information, thanks so much Dave.

  • Great vid! I watched it 5000miles from Dave in a huge thunderstorm. Fortunately I'm in the house!

  • Damn rain :)

  • Ahhh Mother Nature.. gotta love her. lol

I don't think anyone would mind if you had stopped and restarted. :P

    Thanks for the great vid.

  • fight the rain ; ) Sorry, the items are great and more important, but the last pictures are so great! Happy Day, Sepp

  • i wish it would rain like that in south texas

  • Dave, when the economy collapses and there's 10,000 people like yourself in the local woodlands there will be NO game nor edible plants. People will need to depend on food storage, or the growing of corps they can protect from the starving masses, for the first 24 months. Lets talk about the common mans food storage, and I don't mean 600 pounds of bleached white flour, beans and rice.

  • @MrSchpankme but... but... dave teaches wilderness self-reliance... not shtf/wrol preparations

  • STILL Love ya Dave! Keep on....keeping ON! Later...

  • How does a multi-tool help with survival?

  • Way to drive through the rain, awesome completion to the kit, thanks!

  • The rain was neat.

  • good to see you dave

  • Nice that rain came fast

  • @wildernessoutfitters

i doubt cody gets internet in his underground mud hut, but does he ever watch these videos?

  • Dave I don't think I've ever seen you speak so fast before! Lol!

    Another great foundation video.

  • Fucking CONTAINER! I...

  • Why do you wear your watch on your right wrist. Are you right handed?

  • Maybe add Immodium Benadryl and Ibuprofen? Doesn't weigh anything, makes life easier.

  • Nice

  • That MSR Seagull is a great pot. Versatile and affordable. Heavier and bulkier than many aluminum or titanium alternatives, but still quite packable and an overall good choice for a cooking container.

    Great stuff as always, Dave!

  • I live in Texas, and i miss rain...

  • @T1meW4st3d i live in texas, and i miss 90 degrees.

  • another great video, thanks

  • What size is the MSR cookpot? Also do you coat both your cookpot & your nalgene bottle with the heat resistant grill & stove paint?

  • You were starting to look like a commercial for a car dealership at the end the way you were talking fast.

  • great vid

  • Damn, wish we got rain like that in CA right now =/

  • Dave, any thoughts on quality sandpaper in a tight roll (silicon carbide on a water proof backing) instead of the rod?

The sandpaper can be unrolled and used to shape bone, teeth and wood into tools, polish the knife flats to remove rust, work garbage metals (lids) into cutting tools, and can also be used to grind down calluses, nails, etc. .

It can also be rinsed of debris and used many times over and just gets finer ability to polish with use (again use SiC which fracture wears).

  • hey dave im big fan of you! Greetings from brazil!! Im seeing you and Cody on Discovery channel... Do you wanna hear your voice in portuguese? I can sent a video! Stay well

  • Love Dual Survival and your youtube video's please keep them comming man!!!

  • good job on this vid bro........

  • there is gona be another season of dual survival?

  • Sweet video. Very informative. You should travel out to Arizona and make a few videos with Cody. Can't wait to see the Next season of Dual Survival, easily the best survival T.V. show out there. Man vs Wild is to fast paced to get clear information on how to do things.
