I had an exceptional opportunity to take private lessons from Youkta for 5 months duting her stay in Miami in the winter of 2003. She was admired because of her strong convictions and focus regarding her dance and all other aspect of her life. . As a teacher her lessons were never planed ahead, she would observe her students and teach them what they were ready to learn. The essence of true love. She was gentle and graceful as a teacher. In 5 month of biweekly lessons she has never repeated herself. I was completely impressed every time.
I want to celebrate her gift to me, her great spirit lives on, to all the poeple who feel a void and to Victoras, remember her last words "I am going no where". annette, youkta's student.
Annette, were these words shared with You the last time You saw her? I continue to mourn Her. Yes, She was a true Goddess-Angel on this Earth for a very short time. I miss Her so.
I learned about Youkta's passing a month later, like other friend, who did not get to say good-by to her,I am still having a hard time accepting the loss. I shed tears with Maja, with Jenifer and a few weaks ago with Victoras, he told me that I was "one of the lucky ones" indeed, very few got to share her rare gift, which makes her premature departure more tragic. Youkta left the world a better place. annette
Youkta is gone? What happened? I have had some wonderful conversations with her at yoga gatherings in Chicago... we talked many times about our love for Hawaii and such... sorry to hear she is gone... :/
There should be more Youkta videos on YouTube. She was an amazing and beautiful dancer.
