  • Loved it, didn´t know this counter.

  • I dont know where in the hell some guys from USA call it as Americana. It comes from JUDO - some centurys ago ... when USA didnt even existed ... US, always a joke.

  • @Tyler83Mr They call it Americana because that`s how it`s called in BJJ. The same is valid for the kimura, which was named that way in bjj in honor of Masahiko Kimura, the Kodokan fighter who used that move to defeat Helio Gracie.

If you prefer using the japanese name (older as you said) it would be Ude Garame (or Garami... you`ll find both ways and I honestly don`t know who`s right).

  • @Tyler83Mr No, it doesn't. The 'Americana' is an ancient move that's been around probably as long as wrestling has been around. It was coined the 'Americana' by Rolls Gracie after his Americana wrestling trainer Bob Anderson who taught it to him.

  • this is so fucking sick.

  • Yup, keylock or americana, good stuff

  • Pretty sure that's a keylock, not a kimura... but whatever. Cool stuff.

  • sic

  • It`s an americana, not a kimura... Very good move though.

  • @UmDiaEuFicoBom Kimura is OLDER (!!!) than Americana. so, that is a fucking KIMURA.

  • Lol @ sishen and ph33ric, thats hilarious

  • basic judo

  • Complex stuff, but very interesting. Thanks for sharing!

  • that's a great trick

  • Nice technique but, not to be a smartass or anything, since you're bending his arm upward isn't this actually an American armlock counter?

  • no, its calld the ude-garami.

"kimura" is actuly the name of a famous judo fighter, wich the shoulder lock was nicknamed after when he beat helio gracie.

  • Thanks, but if the title had called this an ude-garami counter I wouldn't have asked since that would have translated to bent armlock cntr. & judo doesn't really differentiate; but the reason I asked is that when Kimura used it on Gracie he bent his arm downward so the Brazilians use the term "Kimura" to refer specifically to a downward pointing ude-garami whereas when it's pointing upward they call it an Americana armlock (or at least this is what I was taught).

  • the "kimura" is the "revears ude garami"

  • You're welcome...I hope it helps out.

  • Nice job! Been there plenty of times...thanks for the video.
