I keep hearing comments about hiss etc...I guess I will see on Tuesday...most people haunting forums are wankers in my experience...spend all day tossing off about amp mods and speaker/tube swaps...get out and do some gigs and find out how the amp sounds outside your bedroom

@stratthead most tube amps get their sweet spot on 3-4, that is were the best tone spot is, and turning the amp up will increase the volume of that tone, but it will also change it, braking up ect, some buy twins so that they sound like they do on 3-4 on 10, then the others want the breakup, some amps sound the same on 3 and 10, like a twin, others don,t, the vibroluxe will stay clean longer than a deluxe reverb, due to the 6l6 tubes, the 1979 twins sound the same on 10 due to being ultraliner

@THEFUNDAMENTALVIEW There are some mods (Mark Moyer mods) you (or an amp tech) can do that make this amp absolutely killer and gets rid of the excessive noise. I posted a demo of this on youtube. The tone and early breakup are due to the lack of a negative feedback loop, and you can do the moyer mods without adding his recommended NFB loop to keep the warm, dirty tone the amp has stock.

@PF1964 Theres a big difference... for owning both, i cant tell you the sound of the vibrolux is crystal clear compared to the blues jr. The blues jr starts to crunch at 4 or 5 while the vibrolux starts at about 5 or 6 and is much more loud. also the blues junior is more friendly to use if you are not accustomed to tube amps.

I think it sounds like the compressor or limiter is really heavy on this one and the volume variations dont seem very realistic or perceptive and that it totally jams the tremolo effect too.

This is my favorite modern Fender amp. It has 2 alnico 10" speakers, which gives a much-smoother tone. That's why the amp is never harsh or piercing. It LOVES boutique dirt pedals. Try a Throbak Overdrive Boost or Fuzz Haze and you'll never look back (Best lead tones I've ever heard). LOVE this amp. And the tube-powered reverb is much-nicer-sounding than on say, a Hot Rod Deluxe. If you want boutique-tone, get one of these and some good, hand-wired, old-school dirt-pedals and you'll have it.

One more thing: This amp loves Fender guitars, but my favorite tone is a Les Paul-style with Seymour Duncan Seth Lover p/u's. The alnico 10"'s seem to love the midrangey, low-output humbuckers. Especially with old-school-style, hand-wired dirt-pedals (overdrives, fuzzes, treble-boosters, etc.). Pair vintage with vintage. It's all about synergy.

That is a beutiful guitar. Like the amp sound. I have always used Crate for my strat and have had good success with it. But, I would guess this amp and your strat are made to compliment eachother. I like my Crate becuase it jumps from clean to dirty with little quality lost. But thanks for the Demo, I will go to Guitar Center and give Fender Custom a try.

Yeah it's all tube, but the innards are stamped, with chips everywhere inside. It has a couple tubes, but it's not a hand-wired tube amp - not the amps that they're trying to tribute with this thing. You can go buy the real deal hand-wired version for the same price. Look around. ...even a silver-face Vibrolux Reverb will out-do this thing. Send Fender a message - don't buy their shitty stamped-innard amplifiers.
