I got my nintendo when I was 7 and I got this game from my cousin when I was 8 . I'm 16 now and I'm playing it right now :) so fuck yeah ..... And yes that sing is awesome haha
true, it's very apparent this reviewer loves this game for sentimental . but what about going over some of the additional aspects in detail like the horse races, vegetable contests, etc. or what it takes to win a girl's heart? or how about the annoying reality of not being able to carry more than 8 items in your bag at once, making produce harvesting a grueling task? i like this game just as much as the reviewer, but go into more detail rather than telling us how much you love this gme.

Calling it one of the greatest games of all time within the first 22 seconds... Nostalgia goggles in full effect. The game was good for it's time, I'm sure, but this review didn't really show me anything great. The game seems to have all the basics that appear in every game that came after. And nothing to put if over them.
@MagnumManigordo the reason why this one is better because it seems more realistic in a way. in the later ones it seemed like everything and everyone was perfect, but in this one theres the homeless person, the town drunk etc...
theres also just something about it that just seems magical too. if you ever have the chance to buy it i say go for it.
@MagnumManigordo No it doesn't, the problem with the newer games is that they absolutely over thought what they were doing. Who gives a crap if you don't milk your cows everyday? Why is that relevant? There's such focus on inane details like those in the newer versions, whereas in this version and its predecessors, the focus is on the community aspect.
It's also addictive as hell due to its more simplistic take and layout.

I found this video when I was looking for a review of the game, and all it did was spout how great the game is without really showing anything special. Pretty much everyone is like that with this game, it seems. They keep saying it's great, but they can't even provide a video showing why. I'm not out to beat down on the game, mind you, I actually want to like it as I am a fan of the series. I just don't think this one is worth the $90+
@MagnumManigordo Well that's true, but that's what a review is supposed to be. If you want to hear a critique or analysis, that is something utterly different. That's an objective point of view, rather than an opinionated one. A person who gives you a review is supposed to explain how they felt about it and why. If you'd like I can probably explain in a more objective way, why I thought the game was great for its time and still is today. We should probably do this via pm though,
@MagnumManigordo By the way, you can probably find a version on amazon for much less. Just keep looking until something comes into your price range, they change periodically. I mean the biggest issue is that this game was very much a game of its time. Playing it today would be unusual, it would seem so archaic. It would be like playing the original final fantasy games and then playing the later versions and the comparing them.
The ONLY reason I don't like the new harvest moon games is because they don't have these characters. I know it sounds dumb to repeat the same characters over and over but, jeez, I'm just really attached to these characters!
@unemptysoul cool. I'm not getting a 3DS though. I like to get every other Nin10do handleld so I can play all the games (so far i've got a Ds lite and a GBC)
@AlexIsDesu That's Back to Nature. I have it and it's good. I have a 3DS now so I wouldn't mind them porting it over to that. Why not? This and FF 7 are games fans of the series are just begging to rebuy. Why not make easy money? It seems kind of stupid to not take advantage of this. Most likely a lot cheaper than making a whole new game. They should port this onto the 3DS while they work on a real 3DS Harvest Moon. Tale of Two Towns doesn't count although I am getting the 3DS Version

Yep, the best in the series for me. It's simple to play and yet in dept and addicting. To me, that is what a Harvest Moon game should be.
