  • I tried your method on a new granite counter top and it turned out perfectly

  • Thanks for that - very helpful.

  • haha, you said "little cock".

  • unprofessional .. very slow and badly need work better 795 and another gun

  • cheers exactly what I needed to know

  • Shit video. Masking tape is common sense and not a secret trick :) also why keep saying caulk ? Silicone and caulk are different products and this guy wasn't using caulk!! Thanks for the entertainment though.

  • if it took u an hour its no wonder u got plenty o time to make vid on ere pmsl,,still didnt look write wen thy ad done lol

  • best video for re-caulking

  • Hey, brit, it is pronounced: "cull, call, cawl, caulk".

    NOT COCK.

    Loopy wanker.

  • The caulk scraping/cleaning, and especially using masking tape were just the tips I needed to make a clean, even line that looks professionally done. I often squeeze too much caulk out, but having the tape line and your finger to smooth it out, made for crisp lines and even coverage. Thanks for taking the time to upload this, and surely by now you are ignoring the youtube weirdos and children.

  • good video

  • OUCH!!!! He said to cut the top side of the COCK and the bottom side of the COCK lol. How many times does he say COCK? LOL

  • Wow, that doesn't even look like the same place (3:48). It looks so much better! :P Thanks for the video ;)

  • cock?

  • @Overlapsguitar PMSL

  • @whitbyjet65 straight up pms

  • thanks for the tape trick!

  • multipurpose human tool - the fingernail :)

  • Seriously though. Thanks. That was useful. My wife and I have our sides hurting. I've never heard so much dirty caulk talk. When I stop laughing I'll get right on this.

  • Nice caulk. If you got your caulk done by a professional she might charge you $60 and the you could get mould growing on it.

  • Thanks - very helpful!

  • Cowboy

  • oh my god your my hero ahahha i just got a appartement and the caulk need to be redone so BIG thanks man it was so easy continue with your videos man !!!!!!!! :D

  • his caulk gets out of hand!!haha

  • Somebody used some kind of cement in my grandmothers bathroom it won't come out scraped for like 2 hours and had to leave some of it there any ideas how to get it out the house is from the 1950s or 60s might be original culk

  • The tape technique is useful in extreme cases demanding precision edge. However, the caveat to that once the tape is removed, you have a non-feathered edge of caulk equal to the tape thickness. Removing it with a light figure pass over it kinda defeats the initial intent.

I find that laying a small consistent width bead down (practice) than light finger pressure gets good results and saves time. Thats professionally speaking. DIYers could benefit from the tape method.

  • This video fails to mention the importance of wiping the area to be caulked with some alcohol and paper towels to remove all possible oils, including your own skin oil.

  • I just fucked a skank and now my caulk is dribbling.

  • Nicolas Cage ?

  • Hombre no eres profesional una chapusa

  • Is it cauk or caulk? Remeber there is a "L" in the word.

  • @wolfpaw69 The L is silent. Look it up.

So the next time you're at Home Depot, make sure to ask for cock! lol

  • You cut the nozzle too short so you were putting way too much silicon on the frame. Also washing up liquid on the finger tip helps when smoothing over.

  • HELP! how did you take the lid/cap thingy off the nozzle?? it won't come off!!

  • dude, nice one, thanks.

  • everybody's an expert... NOT... Guess I'll have to post one to show how to caulk properlly.. SHEEEZZZ He's not British.. I'd say a canuck..

  • But now the caulk has a lip on it as thick as the tape. Me no like, must be smooth.

  • HI there, I sealed my bathtub, when applied the silicon it looked great, however, after drying it started cracking and shrinking.........what could be the problem? Preparing the surface? Quality of the silicon? (I am using a good brand as far as I know). Thanks for your help!...oh, last question.....to clean the srface can I use acetone rather than alcohol? THANKS AGAIN!

  • No yo se una Manera sin soap water y tape y es facilisimo y sin llenarte de cilicon

  • This guy needs The Caulking Stick!

  • Any tips for getting my caulk off? I can't seem to get it off. I made my girlfriend try to get my caulk off but she gave up. My caulk is really dirty and quite frankly, it's embarrassing when people look at it..

  • @modestmoose83 Just to clarify, I need to get my caulk out of the dirty crevice, it's really in there good.

  • hahaha is it just me realizing the word caulk has a unforgiving phonetic resemblance to penis???

  • Great, easy to follow video. Looking forward to tackling my sink now! Masking tape and a finger...hope mine looks as good as yours!

  • I like the idea, with the tape! Thank you!

  • I just wonder if NOT removing all the old caulk in the crevice will cause the mold to work through again.

  • @naplesdave - yes get as much off as you can as the mold will come through again eventually. If it is a really problem hit the left over mold with bleach and use a good bathroom caulk as they have mold resistant chemical in them.

  • Thanks i've just had a disaster in my bathroom so i'll need to remove it and then do it has you've shown.

  • Sometimes outdoors I use the same method with duct tape, on concrete and brick. You can tear the duct tape down the middle and use the two outer edges of the tape to get the sharp clean lines. The duct tape sticks better on rough surfaces.

  • Nice Job - Will use masking tape when i do mine.

  • @jonathondio1234 lol, it's funny because this video is about caulking so he does need to say it a lot.

  • @119892223 yes i know,

  • Great vid but being British I think I'll wait until I've mastered that paint roller gizmo before I try this. :)

  • @pezza39817 - good one, thanks for watching

  • @Sebastian7224 - huh?

  • Good job, you made a tricky job look easy!

  • No discussion of removing microscopic film of old silicone caulk - without doing this new caulk won't adhere! Also, all silicone has to be applied at the same time. Otherwise, new lines won't adhere to old.

  • @ccarcohen - Have not really had a problem with caulk not adhering to itself, but ding the whole job within the hour is likely a good idea.

  • you may or may not take this the right way , Method : i just place a small bead down , then spray with dishwashing liquid , then use a pop stick to smooth it out same as a finger but much nicer

    best o luck

  • @xXsnitchyXx - yes using water or soap/water is good to keep the cualk from dragging.

  • @xXsnitchyXx pop stick?

  • @oldstock1607 yes mate the stick that ice cream comes on , pop stick

  • @xXsnitchyXx Oh, Very good. That's what I'd call a popsicle stick.

  • got a job that has lets say half a cm gap? i use this method or is they a magic finger?

  • @jonathondio1234 - oh, ha ha ha - I get what you mean - wow are you ever funny I am on the floor laughing. You should for write for Jay Leno or something.

  • @toucandiy you made a good video i just said that cause i though it would be funny to say

  • A little volume would help. Remove this from Utube!

  • @contessavaughnessa - I am flattered that you want to hear me talk - most people say I talk to much ;)

  • Hey, just wanted to say I watched your video yesterday and re-caulked my tub, toilet and sink in my bathroom today...I can't say how great the masking tape trick worked...It worked so good in fact I used the same trick to caulk my brand new garage door that was installed last week between the capping and vinyl siding..Came out perfect..Great video and great advice with the tape..Will use the tape everytime with every project now..Thanks again!

  • great advise, technique, and finish!. I did not remove the masking tape and it turned into a disaster. Had to strip it all off. Tried it again, this time did not use silicone caulking in the bathroom and it too was horrible. Now after seeing your video, I'm ready to do it right this third time!

  • Wow... thanks, it was incredibly helpful to use your method of caulking! We tried at first without tape and had found ourselves knee deep in a huge mess of caulk!

  • Thanks this has been very helpful.

  • Thank you! Great Job!

  • thanks for the info, very helpful, much appreciated.

  • If my kids decided to sound like this poor gentleman's I'd take the better part of the day to lay a caulk bead too.

    "LEAVE ME ALONE YOU #$%^ VARMINTS . . . I'M CAULKING!!!"

  • thanx for taking the time to show us very helpful good visuals

  • Hes obviously at his house so taking time doesn't matter. Also his tip on tape helps people who don't want to pay an overpriced professional to do a job they very easily can do themselves.

  • mmm fresh white caulk. hahaha

  • WoW He starts during the day and he finshes at night...hope he doesn't charge by the hour. BTW you can hire a professional...like myself that can do this without all the tape and in about 30 seconds to do the entire window and make it look 100% better than this guy.

  • yeah you can scrape - rescrape - clean and let it dry in 30 seconds. The last thing im gonna do is call you. I can see you are the kind of person that rushes jobs and doesn't do it right!

  • @TheBeagleBrigade

Time to walk that insecurity eh? This is for everyone that is not a professional installer and who want essentially WYSIWYG results. Its a demonstration so the time lapse is of no consequence. And no matter how you spin it a clean line is a clean line, boasting aside . I'd take the help of this guy any day and do it myself over someone who cops an attitude for cash.

  • @plastik892

I'll tell ya what after you do a caulking job yourself and your windows are still leaking you can give me a call and I'll give you a number for somebody that can rip out your drywall, vapor barrier and insulation so the mold can be cleaned up (by a professional of course) then when you've spent thousands on that you can give me a call to come and seal up your windows and doors (professionally of course) so your $6 tube of caulking job doesn't turn into another couple grand :)

  • @TheBeagleBrigade this guy is a faking joke, hahaha, pro workers=1 min. job

  • "beautiful line of caulk" i loled at that

  • He has a Canadian accent. If he's from the US, I bet he's from near Niagara/Buffalo.

  • nice vides.

  • Good vid. My seal looks pretty good doing it this way. You always get some a..se holes who think they can do better.

  • Life saver Video....

Thank you for sharing with us...

  • Interesting technique for the cunt filler

  • Just what I needed. I had some painters tape and didnt know what to do with it. Now I do! Thanks!

  • what a caulk!

  • This guy walks the walk and caulks the caulk

  • i prefer black caulk

  • i like dick.

  • I use tape where I want a real nice fillet but I remove the tape immediately. If you wait and pull it the tape creates a tear at the edge and it doesn't look as nice. I use a finger also but you have to be fast unless you're using silicone 2 which gives you more time. With silicone 1 it skins fast and your finger causes less than smooth glass like finish. Also, don't go back over with your finger because it only gets worse as it skins so one fast stroke.

  • Thanks... Really useful.

  • use ice cream stick and soapy water to wipe off excess.. don't worry about using tape either ;)

  • wear a new latex glove and spray anti bacterial kitchen spray on your finger before touching it to prevent bacteria from your finger transfering to your lovely new silicone.plus it slides easier. and you dont get sticky fingers.

  • Hey thanks.

    Denmark

  • If there ever was a situation where you didn't need to touch it it was this one. This is the ideal situation. Nothing in the way of the gun so why does he end up having to touch it?

  • that way is for pussies!

  • you can now get silicone remover, in the UK you can get it from Wilkinsons and B&Q ,Much easier and a lot less risk of sliceing yer bath!

  • Thank you SO much. I've never been able to do this and make it look decent. I've just removed the functional, but atrocious-looking silicone sealing job I did on my kitchen worktops a few years ago, and reapplied new silicon using your method. Thanks to your advice, for the first time I've achieved a result that I'm proud of. Thank you again.

  • excellent vid. don't let jerks discourage you. i need you. you're my handyman-in-a-box.

  • Best detailed explanation I found so far. Most of the rest is too brief to fully understand what's going on.

For those who think they can do a better job teaching: why have not you done it yet?

  • exellent explanation, thanks a lot. I 've just finished a job as you'd taught, it's perfect :)

  • Not sure what you mean. As I recall it was white GE silicone. Caulk is the generic term for flexible sealant.

  • its caulk NOT sillicon nothing like sillicon

  • good fingering skill :D

  • hmmmm....

  • @EvendimataE "That's what she said".

  • Great video, exactly the way my builder did my loft and shower conversion! Great stuff!

  • Fantastic thanks!

  • Good video, the guys who mention wetting fingers just be careful as wetting fingers with water can lead to mould building up in the bead, a good tip is using baby wipes to stop mould ingress and is absolutely brilliant for removing mess.

  • somebody told me wetting your finger with saliva will prevent the silicone from sticking

  • Beautiful Caulk

  • None has an hour and a half to do this! No one is going to pay me $60 to do that! that is a 10 minute job at the most! I like the masking tape idea, but not all surfaces are that smooth to get the masking tape on them in a perfect line in the first place.

  • send me a video of ur 10 minute bathtub caulking job . . . love to see it to save me time

  • i didn't say bathtub ...

  • Yes you are right not all surfaces are smooth enough to all the use of tape, but most bathroom surfaces are. Surfaces next to stucco usually have to be done freehand the trick there is to cut the tube so there is only a very small hole to give you good control of how much comes out. As for this being a 10 minute job - maybe if your are just going over the old caulk with new - that will last 3 months if the old caulk is loose or moldy.

  • @toucandiy

I caulked around the exterior frame of vinyl retrofit windows and masked directly over stucco for a clean line -this is an excellent method that works over most surfaces including stucco. Your video was nicely done, I use that same method.

  • very good instruction!!! Thanks

  • Thank you so much for posting this! My dad passed away 4 years ago and although he taught me alot of how-to type things growing up new stuff always comes up. I am so glad to see that there are men out there willing to step up and teach (especially us daughters) Thank you so much!

  • can i have your number I would show you more stuff....

  • Such a great video. Thank you for your help!

  • Comment removed

  • My dad has been a contractor for over 20 yrs and this is pretty much the exact way he told me to caulk my bathtub. However, he said to wet your finger before using it to smooth out the caulk...and he said to use painter's tape tho it probably doesn't matter. Great to see this!

  • Thanks alot, but after what :P a big mess i've done

  • Thanks for this :o)

  • poor sound, but i guess it's an ok tutorial everyone seems to like it.

  • Very well spoken video. Thanks!

  • These are really good instructions. The video gives clear, closeup shots of the process, the guy is slow and patient, and the tape trick gives so much improvement for virtually no cost.

  • Remember, if you smerar the silicone on the substate. it will collect dirt etc. Have a professional do the work or teach you how to!! Yes, there is a skilled trade for this and we do buildings up to 50 plus stories high interior and exterior. Ask us and we will tell you the proper way to install sealants.

  • 100% silicone does not attract dirt - other types of caulk can especially anything latex based, so it is always best to go with a 100% silicone caulk.

  • i will teach you how to caulk profecional real master here

  • use a spray bottle filled with water and a little deturgent, after application spray water over silicone then remove with a paddle pop stick, spray again and gently run finger over silicone to leave a nice, clean finish.

  • If you use soap with water to dress the sealant, make sure you have dressed the sealant before using spray!! If you spray before dressing the sealant, the sealant may not not stick to the substrate because of the soap material contaminates the surfaces causing adesion problems. Been caulking for over 30 years in the industrial trade, know not to use soaps etc to dress sealants until sealants have been dress with tools or your finger (if caulking small coves aroung tub, tiles etc).

  • thanks for the comment im a caulker by trade 25yrs. Know one seems to respect this trade in thats one of the reasons 75 percent of homes are sealed incorrectly leading to premature rotting in most sidings, adding also to bug infestation.thanks

  • what the heck is "deturgent?"

  • Thanks for your time and know how!

  • I havent used masking tape in years. There are tools for silicone now. Move on, learn about the new tools and throw away the masking tape!

  • Yes there is a plastic tool and I have tried it but I certainly prefer masking tape for the control it gives. The plastic tool can be tricky on tiled walls or in tight spaces.

  • Do you know that these tools only smear the sealant at the joint you are caulking? If you are using silicone around your tub/shower, the smear will collect dirt etc and make a big mess for you in the future when always having to clean these areas. Yes you will be upset because the silicone sealants will collect debris(dirt, bathing scum etc) if you smear the sealant onto the tile or the surface of your your caulking to. These tools make it look easy, don't be fooled.

  • Great video, thank you very much for making this.

  • zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

  • ummm - your watching YouYube DIY videos in search of entertainment?

  • Thank you. I'm ready to go. - David

  • Hey, thanks, im gonna try it myself !
