I think the perennial problem with this series is that there are several brilliant actors who are sidelined. By the first part of the Half-Blood Prince you ended up thinking "here's Hagrid for his two lines, here's a two-second Dumbledore reference, here's Isaac's being excellent for half a minute..."
ive seen both sex traffic and state of play (the tv show) directed by Yates
sex traffic is 2 x 90 minute episodes, with various characters which intertwine and collide, the main story is 2 sisters who are sold into sex work very chilling, (you can watch these on the channel 4 website for free). state of play is 6 x 60 min episodes about the deaths of 2 people from completely different circles being connected, this like harry potter is filled with the top notch of british actors.
kermode is a moron i thought order of phoeinix was one of the best films it was action packed and umbridge was great plus the final few scenes were really good but shame there wrent more scenes with Gary oldman sirius
Sorry, I have never, ever seen the point of Harry Potter. Fantasy is at its best when it is allegorical, metaphorical; Harry Potter is just about a boy (now a young man) riding a broomstick. It is meaningless. At least LOTR brimmed with symbolism and allegory, and had a point to it, spanning 3 jaw-dropping films. From what I have seen of HP, there are too many characters on screen at any one time; a lot happens on screen but in fact very little is actually happening that is of any substance.
I cant remember the name of it, but the harry potter movie where they had the games with the big maze and dragon thing was in my opinion the best of them all
I thought it was a more imaginative, direction wise from Potters 4,1 and 2. But where is the magic of 3? So much "darkness" - but as like 4, forgotten the magic!
I never read the Harry Potter books. I'm 31, a bit too old for the movies but I still go see them because they are one of the best modern examples of "old-timey" Hollywood magic, for lack of a better description. 1 was boring, 2 was a marginal improvement, 3 was really quite good, 4 was boring again and this one, #5, I had to turn off from sheer boredom.

Mark Kermode and Simon Mayo should get proper jobs instead of being overpaid media cunts.

1 - not actually that bad for what it was, but a true adaptation it isn't
2 - Never did anything new for the francise, played the story out as if it were a retread of the first (which it wasn't).
3 - Technically marvellous and the only one in the series where the actors aren't totally awful.
4 - Looks great, but the second act sags to the point of tedium.
5 - More plotholes than ever, more annoying adolescent angsty shit. The worst one so far.
