  • I definantly want to try some D20 future just because I love sci-fi. I was raised on it so I'm naturally into almost anything sci-fi related.

  • This is a great supplement. Almost more useful than the core d20 Modern book.

  • it tickles you?

  • thay need to update there site.. im afraid there going to end it :(

  • 2:57 was that a reference to Gundam Wing?

  • @tobo88, Mecha Crusade = Gundam :D.

  • Great Review! I'm so glad there is someone out there that reviews all this stuff so that the consumer isn't at a loss when they go to their favorite game store. Thanks again!

  • Hey, I still own all of the Star Frontiers system...

  • d20 future and modern are actually very good systems, you just need a creative game master.

  • Except somebody who is too creative realizes that such systems are quite constricting. Progress levels? Alright seriously, WotC is practically telling gamers what worlds they should play in and what the setting should precisely be according to progress level. The only way to get around that while including the mechanic would be to set the world in an alternate history.

It's stupid as hell, and a lot of the time WotC needs to be more open minded. It's just like what they did with 4e.

  • That's true, that's why, if I'm just doing a big, epic future campaign I combine all of the progress levels to add more variety. Plus I changed their rules for challenge ratings and attack difficulties. I'm very fond of how the Battletech RPG handles it

  • Actually that came from Alternity who is a really good system, diferent from D20 Future, is a guide for the master for what is on the market for the period of time

  • are there mini's for d20 modern??

  • yes

  • Its been around for a while, so yah I bet.

  • Interesting how your opinion of d20 is changing like mine, only in opposite directions. I still like d20 for it's (relative) simplicity although I'm experimenting with other systems and of course, moving to third party products to continue my d20 sci-fi fix (I love spaceships and blasters a lot more then swords and sorcery) as... quite frankly, it starts going downhill after this one.

  • D20 future stuff is available for free as an SRD through the wizards website.

  • I really enjoy your reviews, Mr. Wiegel. If you're warming to d20, and have a "hankering" for Sci-Fi, check out Traveller 20 (T20). There is *no* better Science Fiction RPG setting than than you can get with Traveller, and T20 implements both the setting and the d20 rules...keeping that Traveller feel...very well.

  • Good to know you'll review 'Dawning Star' in the future.

  • You do an excellent job. Keep it up. Not a fan of d20, but you make me reconsider that opinion. I'd like to see a review of Aces and Eights, please.

  • Ditto. Like you, Mr. Wiegel, 'D20F' is one of those books I have never regretted buying (even if from my POV it cost me a crapload of money...)
