  • Ugh, I meant to shove. Also, just because a little girl plays with a doll, does not mean she'll only want to grow up and be a mommy. And if she did, what's so bad about that? It seems Ana thinks the only women who are of value are the ones who think and act like her. Also, I've seen plenty of little boys play with dolls too. Baby dolls, Barbie dolls, My Little Pony, etc. It doesn't mean they'll grow up to be like that, they're just playing pretend.

  • As a woman who is both a feminist and a breastfeeding mommy, I gotta say, Ana sounds horribly ignorant and angry for no reason. There is nothing wrong with a breastfeeding doll, it's not very different from a bottle feeding one. Sure, Barbie (or the Bratz dolls) isn't the best toy you could give your daughter, but you don't need shove Madame Curie down her throat. That's just forcing her to like what you want her to like which is not the idea of feminism.

  • Ana doesn't know what she's talking about.

Barbie dolls and breastfeeding dolls tell girls you can't go get a career?

That's like saying action figures and army toys are telling boys you can't get a desk job.

    Be reasonable Ana.

  • Marie Skłodowska Curie People forget shes POLISH

  • this is stupidi mean for god sake teen age pregnancy could go through the roof

  • yeah, it teaches kids that when they are older they are gunna go looking for a bra with flowers on it so the baby can get milk from the flower WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON!! what next...breastfeeding shirts i dunno this is freaken strange man!

  • When my mom breastfed my little sister I had a doll and I brestfed it. I was like two... >:D

  • Fucking retards. It is a TOY!!!!! End of the story. How many dolls have the children today which make them act like moms with their children?!..

    It's so lame from you!!

  • To be fair, Barbie is a doctor, nurse, writer, director, actress, singer, dancer, athelete and mother figure to Kelly and had the ovaries to kick Ken out when he was being a jerk.

  • I love how feminism equals masculinity for a lot of women. lol

  • @CmdrBittles As a feminist, this stereotype has always annoyed me.

  • Little kids pretend to be parents, teachers, astronauts. All sorts of 'adult' things. If you buy a helmet for your kid, it doesn't mean you're forcing him to be a fireman when he grows up.

  • Prejudice against Barbie!!! My Barbie has a dog, another did gymnastic and the other was a teacher. What a terrible woman :O Barbies rock

  • Hahahaha so funny

  • Breastfeeding is NATURAL &NORMAL . No different from a bottle. My children were all bf . My girl ready pretends to breastfeed her dolls. What IS messed up is that other children that see me breastfeed (and I cover myself) are "curious" . Asking what Im doing & why Im hidding baby. They don't have a clue of what it is. That's sad..People wake up, breastfeeding is normal. This toy is just another tool to raise awareness & promote a natural thing from infancy. WORRY about Vampire dolls n BRATZ

  • if its not natural for a five year old to breastfeed a doll then its not natural for a 5 year old to even have a doll. . . .as one promotes parenting at five anyway

this video promotes society to continue judging natural things and making ppl feel wrong. societ discriminates things enough media adds to it

  • if its not natural for a five year old to breastfeed a doll then its not natural for a 5 year old to even have a doll. . . .as one promotes parenting at five anyway

  • No big deal. It's cultural brainwashing to think of breast feeding as wrong...

Dolls do make girls think of their babies. Breast feeding is good and healthy for real babies so why not play those games?

BTW, if you don't like barbies, stop dressing like one.

  • Everyone needs to STFU because if it is ok to let a little girl give her doll a BOTTLE it is ok for them to pretend breast feed, my little girl will be getting this and you can suck my leaky boobs

  • and btw ana, barbies does not make you stupid, stupid girls like barbies

  • who against public breastfeeding? who? who? guys with manboobs can walk around however they like

  • I don't like feminists D:

  • they're assuming this is the ONLY toy that the kid has and let them just absorb some stereotype

  • Isn't every doll a breastfeeding doll?

  • I might get it if it wad cheap enough

  • Cenk, you need to wait about five years and then have another child and ask your wife to breastfeed (if she hasn't already decided to do so). Then you'll see why a breastfeeding doll is a marketable item. It's a hell of a lot easier to sit your five year old down with a doll and "breastfeed your babies" together than have to try and breastfeed with a bored, jealous five year old trying to beat the crap out of what he sees as the interloper in Mom's lap.

  • Wanna know what happened to my barbie dolls? Some boy who lived down the street destroyed them with a baseball bat. Threw them up in the air, and WHAM! Barbie parts went flying everywhere. I swear to god, best thing that ever happened to me (okay, I may be over exaggerating when I say that, but it was pretty good.) So, thank you... Patrick? Peter? Whatever the fuck your name was!

  • well theres a barbie doll thats a school teacher

  • There was actually a barbie doll that was recalled because one of its cath phrases was "Math is hard!"

  • talking bout breasts... O_O

  • You don't know anything about feminism.

  • little girls have dolls that come with bottles, would you rather them grow up to give their babies formula and not breast feed?

  • It's "not natural" for five-year-olds to have babies in the first place; that's the whole point of dolls, isn't it? As long as they're pretending to be mothers, why not let them go all the way with it? I just don't see the issue here.

  • i love their spanish! xD!

  • It's not natural for 5 year-olds to take care of babies, period. So it's ok for little girls to change diapers and bottle feed a doll, but not breast feed a doll? I don't know, I was raised by a militant breast-feeding mother, so maybe I'm biased.

  • I played with Spiderman Toys when I was young and now I climb buildings solving crime.

  • @varishnakov That's ridiculous....you'd need to get the spider bite first.

  • ... Uhhh, well... What the fuck is the dude thinking?! They are like, what 5-13?? It's good for the 1700's or 1950's. Not now.

  • I don't really think dolls infulence kids that much.

I remember when I was a little girl my favorite doll was my Hunch Back Of Notre Dame and Esmerellda doll, and I'm not a gypsy with a deformed boyfriend now.

  • WHY?!(headdesk) WHY?!(headdesk)FUCKING WHY!!!!!!

  • Hey. Barbie has a very diverse resume. She's been a doctor, a lawyer, a teacher, a vet, and even an astronaught at one time.

  • the school teacher barbie has a calculator

  • Ana stop assuming BS things

  • Comment removed

  • lol, you're 12.

  • I never liked baby dolls as a kid. I didn't see the point of being a "mommy" when I didn't have too....I still don't. I didn't play with Barbie much either. I liked my Lion King, Littlest Pet Shop, and Jurassic Park toys. :P This doll takes the cake! Ridiculous. Wtf will be next?

  • I know it nartual and oaky if a mother does it. But for littel girls??

  • when i was little all my barbies were gay lulz

  • I use to love barbie dolls as a little girl and now that I'm grown I play video games and listen to system of a down |Db

  • Ditto.

  • Lol playing with a madame curie doll will teach them to fuck around with radioactive material.

  • Ana is so wrong about "dolls teach kids to be stupid because they don't have 'smart' accessories"

that's not true, there has always been a Police barbie, Doctor Barbie, etc etc that has to do with the job field!

  • I used to pretend breastfeeding regular dolls when I was 5 and I'm 21 now still haven't popped any out. I'm also no housewife or girly girl. This is total crap.

  • @BuddhaDimple

Ha, I did the same thing. My friend and I would also shove baby dolls up our shirts and pull them out to "give birth" when we were playing house. We were kind of odd little kids.

  • Barbie has been a teach and a doctor... she's not a total dumb blond.

  • Barbie was based on porno girls that is pure fact the creator of Barbie itself saw that as his perfect woman. The doctors and teachers outfits. Think about it, uniforms=fantasy. It isn't innocent, now I know this I won't buy one Barbie for my child so some perverts can have a high bank account. It's sick! Dolls made in a perverts 'perfect' image and sold to little girls...She Is suppose to be a dumb blonde

  • Anna's making some pretty big assumptions... lol Barbie has nothing to do with math and science. In fact, there are doctor, vet, and astronaut Barbies... You're not going to be a dumb slut if you play with Barbies... As for the breast feeding doll, I get what they're coming from, but seeing a 5 year old "breast feed" a doll is nonetheless kind of weird.

  • Should young kids have a doll for feed with a bottle?

Why don't you ask about war related toys?

This doll is just for girls who want to immitate their mums; that's all.

Here, in Spain, we are afraid about violence, not about our bodies or loving acts. Breastfeeding is as natural as mammals we are.

  • 13corales you are right.

  • I never really played with barbies that much, cause they were hard and plastic. I did play with these dolls called GroovyGirls because they were sof and cottony. The toy that really ticks me off though are easybake ovens. Why are the pink and sold mainly to girls? My little brother is an amazing cook and loves baking and such. I really want to give him something like an easy bake oven, but not one of those weird things that make gooey bugs.

  • barbie has lots of smart careers lots what barbie did you play with ???? Barbie come in every form of a female ...

  • I bet Anna could feed a lot of babies....you know.....cause......well......big tits.

  • JAJAJAJAJA BEBE GLOTON

  • Spain...figures.

  • Anna, whipping out the feminism. I love it. I think toys do influence kids. Lego bricks can inspire engineers and architect. Gi Joe can influence kids to join the military.

    Easy Bake Ovens= Cooks.

    Toy Cars=Mechanic/Racer

I had superhero action figures and even that inspired me to draw my own.

  • spain make's a doll to brestfeeding

usa make's war doll to kill

    is love vs hate

  • i haet speling threee

  • interesting... is it "natural" to encourage a young girl to "bottlefeed" a doll?

  • what does that mean

  • KIDS DO THIS ANYWAYS.....people are fucking stupid.......

you have no sense....maybe in the countries that these dolls are marketed...people are told to buy fucking formula....breast milk is natural, and child emulation is just as natural. this woman is a stupid person in general...STFU

  • it's interesting how we seem to have no problem with a little girl playing with a doll to mimic motherhood as if she had sex, got pregnant, and gave birth, yet a girl mimicking breast feeding a doll is crazy...I think the fact that we encourage young girls to pretend to be mothers is psychotic, never mind the breast feeding.

  • yummy

  • Best. Doll. Ever.

    :-)

  • I hate spelling.

  • I hate spelling too

  • I find this kinda creepy.

  • I definately think that there's some domestic undertones with the breast feeding doll. I find it mildly creepy, but is it going to scar a 5 year old forever? No.

The only doll that's ever "influenced" me was the Shani doll line. In the 90's that barbie came in black only, in beautiful dresses. Once I saw that, it helped stop the whole "Black=Bad/ White=Good" thing.

(...I think I was one of the kids who starred in "The Doll Test")

  • They will sell a million..!!!

  • I wonder what action figures do to guys, force them to go in the military?

I played with trains and leggo when I was young

  • lol wtff! hahaa

  • Sounds like Baby Glutton. I don't want a fat baby!

  • ... Who cares

  • Madame Curie Doll? man the breast feeding doll is stupid as hell and I'm all for female empowerment, but man is that girl gonna grow up to be a nerdy chic (nothing wrong with that)

  • I Bet i could make ana roar

  • Dolls really are unusual. I honestly agree that certain dolls give kids the wrong idea.

I have a 5 year old cousin was given an old, free American Girl doll that basically does nothing except exists. She carried the thing around, admires how "pretty" it is and changed the doll's clothes.

Then, when she turned 7, she was given a 120 dollar doll. She does the exact same things with it.

Now, she likes to go shopping, wear 'cool' clothes, and put on makeup.

Dolls make certain things fun for you.

  • I don't think this is always true. When I was a little girl I had lots of barbies, and I would make them wear slutty clothes and do dirty things with ken in the barbie car. However, I was never promiscuous or materialistic. I've always considered myself to be intelligent and have a wide variety of interests.

    Dolls can be just dolls.

Anyway, about the breast feeding doll, I think it's unnecessary but I don't really care about it.

  • Marie Curie was not the first woman to graduate from a French University!

She was the first woman to win a Noble Prize, and one of the few people to win two Noble Prizes (in physics and chemistry).

Also, I am a guy, and a feminist, and I'd probably play with this if I was 5, or my little sister would play with this, and it wouldn't be a problem. Play is about pretending to be a grown up - grown ups breast feed, and that's fine.

  • I first heard about this on the radio.

  • I played with barbies most of my childhood. I also was an honor roll student who's favorite class was science, and am now a web developer, even though there was no 'website designer barbie' when I was a kid.

Parenting makes a child what they turn out to be, not the toys they play with.

  • I'm guessing her parents let barbie raise her?

  • whose madam currie

  • I saw that special too

  • WTF

  • I think little girls often imitate what they see around them.. and at such a young age the person they imitate most is the same-sex parent.. If a little girl sees her mother breastfeeding a baby.. She won't need a special doll to copy that. Little girls often try to do things to act grown up.. pretending to be pregnant or have breasts etc.. It's all dress-up and make believe to them. At first glance, the doll seems a bit weird.. but I do not think it is the huge deal that's been made of it.

  • Cenk is right on the money with the paranoia angle. Kids do not want preachy educational tools passed off as toys, which is why stuff like that never sells.

BTW, do toys for boys encourage them to learn and develop toward science? No, they encourage physical activity and often violent tendencies. So what?!

Toys are for kids. Kids are dumb. Don't read too much into it, FFS.

  • bottom line; its still buying dolls for little girls so they can pretend to be mommy. regardless of whether or not it pisses, shits or breastfeeds its still projecting gender roles upon them. when i see little girls with barbies or brats, they're still pretending they're babies because of their size. How would you explain doctors and nurses and scientists BEFORE this madam curry doll or whatever came along?

Most claims feminists make are all built on assumptions and man-hatred.

  • I find nothing wrong with it. I had quite a few barbies my favorite was Dr. Barbie. Her image has changed a lot.

  • anas breast are fantastic

  • Sex is perfectly natural...

But I won't be buying sex dolls for my little son!

  • Idk its a cute thing to do, but i dont think its really that big of a deal. young kids probably dont really understand what theyre doing or why.

  • Wow, I can't believe Cenk and Ana are against this. LAME.

  • Regardless, I approve of this completely.

  • um i did this with my baby toys when i was a kid. u don't need a specially designed doll to be able to pretend breastfeed.

  • I think it is natural for 5 year old girls to want to imitate Mommy and if they see Mommy breastfeeding a younger sibling they're going to like this doll.

I don't see anything wrong with it.

  • I agree Joe, breast feeding is perfectly natural. I'd rather my future kids breast feed their dolls and know it's okay to breast feed than to think breasts are purely sexual and that babies should be on formula because it's icky to breast feed.

  • Having a breast feeding doll is no different than one who drinks from a bottle or pee's in its diaper. I know a few women who were talking about this, they breast feed and don't have breast feeding dolls but their little girls still pretend to breast feed their dolls. It's completely natural and it's just as fine as a little girl feeding a doll a bottle and changing its diaper.

  • Did u even listen to the clip. She said she had issues with barbie doll to begin with.

  • bebe gloton

  • I agree it is natural, it should be allowed in public, its THE BEST thing for the baby. (im a man too...wierd) However I DONT like the image and idea of this. Saw the video awhile ago. Its creepy, its to mature of an idea, just feels wrong.

  • Ana your great but your WRONG here!

Because flip the senario, Lil boys grow up playing with GI-Joes and Army men....... that doesn't influence more or less of us to join the military.

  • ohhh good point including the army soldier thingies and plastic guns

  • Damn Ana comes off as a strict feminist too often...

  • ...was I the only one staring at Ana's tits the whole time she was talking?

  • you can't blame the doll for how a kid grows up. It's the responsibility of the parents. I had a ton of Barbies and baby dolls and grew up studying science and politics and art (now rolling with the art in Graphic Design). They only do damage if there are no other figures for the kid to look up to.

  • wa?

i would have loved that as a kid,

cause i was so into dolls, that i would try to do anything as real as possible to it.

it doesnt mean i would have went out havin sex o_O

  • I used to play with guns and violent toys, and I grew uo to be the most peaceful guy my parents ever imagined. So, I'm sorry Anna, but you are just full of crab in this one.

  • i agree, i played with all kinds of toys as a kid. besides, even without this toy, i would have tried to breast feed my doll anyways, cause i was immitating my mom.

  • Lol, I wonder if the Madame Curie doll comes with actual radioactive material

  • Damn you liberals act as stupid as republicans sometimes.. I understand your always trying to be progressive but I don't want my kids to have to walk in the park and see some ladys tit hanging out her shirt. Breastfeeding is natural but can't you just keep some values in america. There is enough women out there wearing barely anything already. Go get a mocha latte you fairies

  • I agree, but the average breastfeeding woman is attacked when she is covered with a blanket. I saw someone roll their eyes in disgust when a lady was breastfeeding while waiting for the baby's doctor's appointment.

There are laws about indecent exposure, but if the woman is trying to conceal herself it shouldn't be a crime.

As for the doll, I think every baby doll tells girls they are expected to have kids one day, this one just didn't come with a bottle.

  • breast feeding doll ... just terrible.

  • I don't see much wrong with this doll. 5 year olds play with toy guns, but it doesn't mean we're advocating that 5 year olds have the right to bear arms or that these kids will only be good for shooting people when they're older. I kind of see that it might be a little weird, but I have no strong feelings one way or another. I'm indifferent, or nonchalant shall I say. Perhaps even insouciant.

I might even play with the toy myself when no-ones looking....no-one can stop me.

  • this is weird crap

  • wow, first time ever I completely disagree with both these people. I think Ana's a douche anyways but I wanna smack her here. AND I'm disappointed in Cenk!

I think it's a good idea! If more children grew up learning that breastfeeding is okay, there wouldn't be so many douchebags passing stupid laws banning it in public! That's why I like the idea. Most kids' baby dolls come with bottles when breastfeeding is better. Why shouldn't there be a breastfeeding doll??

  • i dont neccesarily think theres nethin wrong with it, bt it is stupid n a bit pointless.

what is wrong is sayin that playin with barbies means ur nt interested in maths n science, thats retarded.

    marie curie dolls??

  • It's as pointless as giving a kid a baby doll with a bottle. Same dif.

AGREED totally on the barbie/Marie Curie doll thing. That's about where I wanted to smack her.

I'd bet any money that the first thing a 3 or 4 year old would do with a Marie Curie doll is play house with it or put a dress on it. I played with Barbies and I'm in LOVE with science/biology/astrophysics/any other geeky science thing. Ana Casparian is a ditz.

  • I wanna smack her too, but probably not in the way you're meaning. OOooo yeaaa....giggity giggity!!

  • The problem is that many societies have made breasts such a sexual thing that they associate breast feeding as a sexual thing as well. How sad.

This may be a harsh statement but what's the difference between having to hide your breasts (not a sex organ) and having to hide your ankles or wrists in other cultures?

Cenk, you always talk about being attached to the facts. I suggest you think about this one.

  • ahem...I AM bebe Gloton

  • I tend to agree with you about 95% of the time Cenk, but I think you're off on this. No one has a problem with dolls that have little girls change their diaper, dress them, bathe them, etc. Those are all natural parts of raising a child that a 5 year old doesn't do in real life. They pretend with the doll. I think showing them that breastfeeding is also a natural part of raising a child is a good thing.

  • I don't know, I don't find it offensive. Little girls are often very attracted to mommy roles. Has it occurred to anyone that this might be nature?

We do have a problem with women being treated fairly in society. I think the biggest factor in that problem is we look at feminine roles as inferior. Leaders are rewarded, nurturers are scorned. Is there something in human society more impactful on a person's life, or on the future of mankind, than how we raise our children? I don't think so.

  • lets teach kids the wonders of radon!!! Hands on ;D

  • Ana looks AMAZING here

  • indeed, those are some nice breasts!

  • lol. I was thinking the same thing. While Ana is seriously harshing on barbie dolls, she has her tits on display big time! I

    And I love them!

  • breast-feed Barbie

  • just stupid shit, both of my sister played with all kinds of dolls barbie among them and grown up tu succesfull one is a doctor and the other a ingenier , even more my doctor sister has his husband well trained

  • Me and my friends use to make barbie dolls have lesbian sex XD and This was waaay before our sex education classes.

  • Yeah, the breast-feeding doll is too much. These kids are waaaayyyy too young to be experimenting with those things (no pun intended).

  • Okay, the doll is pretty silly in my opinion. Having said that...

I really appreciate TYT, but Ana is coming off more and more frequently as a real twit. I understand that she's just eye-candy and presenting fluff, but every piece from her has her stumbling over words, numbers, names. Just because they have a pretty female doesn't mean she has to be dumb too. Time for an educated woman on the show!

  • hahahahahaha!!!! iagree with every word! LOL. she's hot, right? but.. come on, ya know. she is the "people magazine" of the show.

  • "Time for an educated woman on the show!"

Ms. Kasparian has a Master's degree.

  • Oh dear, even worse - that makes it just plain embarrassing for the poor girl.

  • barbies and the colour pink is banned from my house

  • 101 journalism?

  • Then again, there is something to be said with learning parental skills (for both genders). I knew a couple once that had a child and had absolutely no idea how to take care of it. They didn't know how to properly feed him, they didn't know that you have to burp the kid, they didn't know hardly anything. Granted, this is stuff you can learn, but encouraging proper parental techniques isn't a bad thing. I do agree that there may be some issue with gender roles, but Ana's a bit out there

  • I agree with Ana. I doubt the makers of either doll were trying to influence society, but when you tell a girl at a very young age that they should focus on something, they'll probably continue focusing on that.

I'd rather have a daughter with an unhealthy obsession for history and science, than a girl with an unhealthy obsession with weight and breastfeeding. :P

  • Give your kids Madam Curie dolls and surfboards. Don't let them near Bibles.

  • And keep them away from old disney movies.

  • goddamn! ana is pretty damn hot!

  • now something to make little kids look like they have boobs WOOT i kinda got half chubbed looking at the ad for it

  • I really don't have a problem with the doll. I mean I have to admit I got REALLY weirded out by the ad that they showed for it, but hey why not? It encourages a benevolent behavior in the child and I can't really see any real harm that it does... apart from make ME uncomfortable. With regard to Anna's tirade about how it degrades girls to think that all they can do is be mothers: "get off your fucking high horse." Women in the work place is good but being a mother is very respectable too.

  • lmao here ana roar

  • its hear not here.

  • Comment about the anchor woman.

Maybe, like, she should, like take speech classes, you know. So, like that way you stop, you know like, talking like this.

Don't take me wrong, but I believe it degrades the show. Or, worse, are they secretely trying to communicate to those who, like, don't understand much unless you address them in this way?

  • This will lead to child pregnancy soon.

  • I wonder how many people here realize that Maria Skłodowska-Curie was Polish just like Frederick Chopin...

  • I played with barbies, and Math and science are my two best subjects.

  • I read your comment, and I thought you said "I played with barbies, and Meth and science are my two best subjects." LOL.

  • the doll puts the idea that girls/women should have children

  • Go anna. she's gotten so smart lately.

  • Barbie does promote hating math and science.

  • there was a very controversial talking "Teen Talk Barbie" several years ago that said "Math class is Tough!" It was taken off the market quickly.

  • Come on, guys. If breastfeeding is so natural, why would you object to children breastfeeding a doll? Girls dress their dolls, feed them, wash them, etc. What's the difference? Why is ok for a girl to give her doll a baby bottle, but not ok for her to nurse that same doll? Children who are nursed themselves and have never been given a bottle already do nurse their dolls.
