  • What version is that? arcade emulator or console?

  • waghhhhh vs tiger!

  • wait... why was he charging for a turn punch when he was going to do super?

  • BARLOG WINSS!!!!

  • Its rarly when Balrogs Victory Pose is Him ripping his shirt

  • Fuyck Sagat. Good job Watson. That was tight.

  • lol no johns

  • who would have thought guile theme works with street fighter 2

  • I cant hear the guile theme without laughing anymore XD

  • BAR LOG WEENZ

  • Watsons balrog is decent. He didn't use flotaty fierce to get closer to sagat at all, didn't really use c jabs into throw at all and only once used whiff rush kick into headbutt. His combos were almost non existant and didn't try for any meaty jumpins (which is neither good or bad given gats ability to reversal, which watson really didn't test once). More of a throw game is really needed to but this rog on the map.

  • Well played by Alex Valle for accepting the fact about the microphone incident, and letting them redo that round. I still have to say though, O. Sagat is ridiculously overpowered in this game, which was pretty much shown in the round where Alex Valle spammed tigershots and perfected Mike Watson. I know I'll get a lot of hate for saying that, but its pretty much the truth, but Alex Valle is an excellent player no doubts.

  • Damn, that balrog is a BEAST!!!

  • lol like we care why he lost.

    no johns.

  • I also loved the great anticipation by Valle in landing a Sagat uppercut against Watson's Balrog in round1 of the last two matches. Still, great play by two warriors, the best SF2 players in US history, and two of the world's best warriors! Watson started off better and was the SF2 king, but Valle gained experience quickly and surpassed Watson by about 2000. Valle did better in most tournaments and vs Japanese opponents and Daigo was impressed by Valle's skills when he first played him!

  • Great super by Watson as Bison at end of round 1 vs Ryu and as Balrog at the end of round 1 vs Sagat, great anticipation! I loved how much better they made Balrog in SSF2 compared with SF2, with his low attack and ability to move through fireballs and Watson plays with him with awesome skill! They made Sagat too dominant in SSF2, with is speed of tiger shots, damage of uppercut, recovery after tiger knee, and versatility of straight fierce punch! At least Valle replays one match vs Balrog!

  • Great Videeoo! Some of the world's best players :D

  • Can Balrog even get over those tigers without getting punched? If not this game is kinda dumb.

  • depends on how far away from Sagat you are

  • see what happens when the speed stars are up? qf fireballers pay in timing. typical match, but I've seen better.

  • I went back to HD remix after overdosing on sf4 the other day, and it was a shock. I had become used to lifebars that took a marathon run to deplete, and 'easier' inputs. In SF2 there is NO room for mistakes against a good opponent, where one combo can leave u dazed and ripe for the kill. Classic SF.

  • yep, execution is alot tighter and theres no bullshit ass short cut system, spaming dp's in super turbo doesnt work either lol. i could only hope they patch sf4 to be more like turbo.

  • Well, spamming DPs in SFIV usually just ends in whoever is spamming them getting killed :)

  • not when its jab dp. And plus u can mash dp inbetween while ur geting comboed or in a block strong and ur most likely going to get the reversal since theres auto block, bigger reversal windows, and short cut for dp.

  • I knew knew friggin knew sf4 was no good compared to ST. That's why I waited before dropping my $60.00. That stuff you said about jap dp's..Are you serious? Where's the fun in that? You basically have to let your opponent get up off the ground or you'll get dp'd on everytime? Tell me there are still safe jumps in sf4?

  • online is a joke. Move inputs are delayed or droped at will, even in a full green bar match.

  • Fuckin yeah it is! True skill is observed over LAN. Online shenanigans suck. On several occasions I've played people whose connections sucked so bad that their health regenerated and my supers were taken back after already coming out and traded for a hit in their favor.

  • i have next-to-no trouble with lag online. it's only ever noticeable at 0-1 bars for me

  • @datriadx18 HDR isn't classic SF, HDR is poop with easy inputs.

  • anyone that says 'you just gotta do --- to win' sucks at street fighter. sorry dude.

  • word

  • Truth.

  • It's true, dunno why you got -8.

  • show us ya mikeys watson

  • Alex Valle is a classy guy.

  • The Sagat that Valle picked was Hyper Sagat, because he said "Tiger Knee"... yet it has not super gauge

    funny

  • At first I was tempted to say that Watson just refused to learn his lesson in the first match against Sagat, but in the subsequent matches he easily shut me up.Never notices how much priority Sagat's sweep kick was granted in SF2.

The Ryu and Balrog play was beautiful... I think Sagat's pretty cheap :(

    5-starred

  • But man Valle's enemy prediction rate is astounding. His Tiger Uppercut and Shoryuken guesses were god-like.

  • DAMN! that was intense ... alex's sagat rocks!

  • valle put a great fight and mike, there both great street fighters

  • great matches by both wow that was intense.

  • rofl at you donkeys who are clueless about this situation. this is under extreme pressure and to have a mic wave in front of your face during what is obviously the most crucial moment in the match is very distracting. but being a loser on the sideline trying to judge this i guess its hard for you to understand. i lost my charge and tried to win by tap leaving me vulnerable to a perfect reversal. yes i lost my charge and yes i had to improvise leaving me to lose :( thanks valle for a replay

  • i understand that the boom mic falling is a distraction, and it would be to any player..that's cool. my question is why didn't they just call the play dead right then and there? i mean..if it was a distraction like you said to begin with, i mean..he still went for a turn around punch..it's not like he had to. it seemed to only be a problem..or a 'distraction' when you got reversal-ed for it.

  • He was likely going for the super, which O.Sagat would have no way to avoid- IIRC he got the turn punch on accident, because according to him when the boom mic fell he accidentally let go of the button.

  • my question is that..if the turn around punch wouldn't have gotten reversal-ed..would mike watson have used the same 'boom mic falling' reason to re do the match? i really wonder..i highly doubt he would have, so..that's pretty much the argument i was trying to bring up. i would of personally told the judges there to redo it as soon as the boom mic fell and ruined my concentration..but that's just me.

  • You still put Alex at a disadvantage, because the one round he beat you in (fair) no longer counted. Personally, what I think should have been done is either, replay that one round (which meant that Alex would have been up a round), or assume that Mike pulls off the super, in which case, both players have a round won. Because the entire match is replayed, Alex now needs to win 2 rounds, instead of one.

  • @5592s9t

    valle made the choice.

he can do whatever he wants, he still won the tournament

  • Don't backseat drive with these guys. They know what they're doing.

  • sonicku

  • okay forget it. He was charging for super

  • i dont get it, why wouldnt a rush punch have gotten reversed?

  • Seems more like Mike Watson is a sore loser. In that short frame of time, how could he possibly think to himself "What was that flash?! Now my charge is gone, yeah, I think I'm gonna end with TAP instead."

It seems like he was going for the TAP all along. The TAP takes at least a second to charge. It doesn't register as soon as you hit all 3 punch/kick buttons.

  • sorry, i know this is 3months ago. but yeah i agree. should just accept that he lost that one. i know he's a good player, but if i was in his shoes in that situation, i'll be charging up for a supercombo during my headbutts and cheese him out.

  • i agree. i also think he used the boom mic falling to his advantage. great job by valle by being a good sport and offering the rematch. pretty weak if watson used that as an excuse to get another chance, if that truly happened to be the case.

  • awesome, thanks for the upload.Nice to see more of these 2 american pros, when did these matches take place?

  • July 2000, IIRC.

  • There was a documentary being filmed, a movie about Street Fighter players. There were cameras, and also a big microphone, which happened to get in the way in this case.

  • whats meant with the "boom mic."

i'm not american or english didn't get this rly

    s.o. can help?
