  • where do u get the pit stop track from i need

  • @ircallum Hey. Its just some of the standard scalextric single lane track released about 5 years ago. You can probably find some online - check out the scalaxtric uk website for all the track pieces. :-)

  • Yeah, good Vid Murrary, you racing with any local guys down there in Kapiti?

  • @Methuselah777 heh - in honesty the track hardly ever gets fired up. Maybe once or twice a year.

  • 6 people obviously hate fun because they hit DISLIKE BUTTON

  • @CZ150C heh indeed. although this is one of my first youtube vids - but is wierdly one of the most viewed - and its not very polished.

  • Yeah I built a 16 by 6 foot table out of Ply. Creating two long 'I' beams glued and screwed which are very strong - then basically sheets of ply on the top with support beams in between. Its strong enough to walk on. I have a full build pdf file if you are interested.

  • How'd you set up the track? On a table?

  • Is this the same track you used for the nightrace video you did?

  • @MOGULMANv Yeps :-)

  • its awesome, reminds me of a slot car track..... oh wait?

  • nice!=P

  • hey sir i would love to get into the slot car thing,im a veryyyyy big f1 fan n my mind blew up when i saw this.how much did this cost you and where did you buy or how did u make the track would to know because i wanna make a Monaco circuit so please help.ASAP ,thankx

  • whats with the track its grey

  • @ryanster246 Painted! With a mix of water based primer and tinted with black, a bit of brown, and a bit of green. Made it a nice sunburnt road colour. Usually the scalextric track has issues with most paint not sticking to it - but cleaned it with alcohol wipes then painted with the primer and it has lasted 3 years now no problems.

  • @ryanster246 its allowed to be grey?!!?

  • it was nice.i wish there was a monaco ,that would b nice

  • esto es el futurooo el digital!! buen invento an sacado en acer 2 carriles pa 6 jugadoress io espero a q vaje el precio i me conprare lo mas seguro!!

  • Yeah I just gave it 5 stars there. Seems I forgot to click the button last time. :D

  • It's not Catalunya, there is a chicane missing just before the home straight. Awful.

    Only joking! this looks brilliant.

    5*

  • heh - ahh but thats a new chicane - they built that after I had already made the track. looked at how i could modify, but with the pit in track section there isn't much room - and i think it would make that corner too fiddly anyways. You can basically 'hoof' it now just after the last R2 corner as the final corner before the main straight is a R3 and fairly tolerant of some decent speed extending the flat out main straight - zoooooom!. Thanks for comment and rating! :-)

  • mechanical art........fab job.

at this point in time I am trying to decide just how to get into this and what track to buy?

I believe I want a scalelec. but cant realy decide. for me the confusion resides in if I want a bigger track can I combine kits to do so and how to mx and match.

If you read this any quick suggestions would be welcomed.

    once again...........great trk/vid.

    thanks 4 sharing.

  • It depends what you want to do. Slotcar sets are basically kids toys, and digital concept was all well and good, but took a lot of modification to work as you'd expect. New power supply, copper taping the track, power taps, electronic changes to controller unit to name a few. I'd start by reading some of the slotcar forums on the net. I went scalextric because of its availability, and theres a new controller unit coming out Xmasish that will sort a lot of the niggly V1.0 digital issues.

  • how long did it take you to build that?

  • About a year of on again/off again weekends. The hardest bit was trying not to get distracted and have a play.

  • can i just say the real catalunya track is not what u have got u have slighly modefide it

  • Oh Absolutely, I have simply tried to keep the spirit of the original, yet tweaked it so that it fits to 1/32nd scale and is raceable as possible. Trying to fit a 4.6km racetrack at 1/32nd scale onto a 4.8m long table is not the easiest task! :-)

  • @1freediver yeah actually i would have needed 145m of scalextric track to complete the conversion at 1/32 - this track is about 20m from memory

  • how much did all this cost

  • Humm... ok in $NZD Table frame and legs -I'd say $400 Track Probably $600+ Power supply $300 PC/LCD Monitor/Speakers $300 Lap timer $200 Robot PSU for digital PB $100 Scenery probably $800+ to build/glue/paint Lighting/cabling/switches $200 hummm and 50 odd cars all chipped - around $4000 (most expensive bit really and keeps growing). Trip to Europe to go see the track? All the time to build? I built all this over a couple of years so the cost was spread a bit here a bit there.
  • Oh and copper taped, and with all new Parma controllers with digital modules (Scaly ones are rubbish)

  • CATALONIA is not spain ||*||

  • Catalonia is not spain!

  • Apologies - yeah im aware of the conflict of the catalunyans, and have a catalan flag over the track. Beautiful country.

  • You are right, Catalonia *is* a region of Spain.

  • @trapazza Heh - ok i have updated the details bit of this vid. :-)

  • Comment removed

  • yes you get special bits of track now

  • Can you mix digital with standard old track???

  • yes but analog cars dont work on digital courses though

  • what makes an analog car analog and digital digital. they both run on electiricty right? it probably sounds like a stupid question. but hey. i dunno lol.

so yeh, whats different with analog and digital for the cars?

  • Simple, Digital can run up to 6 cars for scalextric while Ninco takes up to 8 cars on two lanes or more. While Analog can run 2 cars on two lane, and so it goes on. 3 lane=3 cars.

  • makes sense lol

    thanks

is it still as easy to use digital as it is analog?

    can you "plug and play?"

  • when you buyed it did u get all that stuff?

    how much did it cost?:)

  • Great layout.Love the grandstand.Where did you get it from?.

  • Its all pretty much scratch built. Apart from the track which is scalextric sport track painted. :-)

  • Whats the difference?

  • What's the Difference between, Standard and Digital... There isn't much to be honest. Just the price and digital is more confusing.?

  • Depends if you want to race up to 6 cars on the same track. This video only really shows off the track - not the racing. I've had 4 guys + 2 ghost cars racing and man that is some fun. you are always racing against a car or group of cars with so much action on the track. :-) Digital IS a lot of work to get setup and working really well though. if you want something plug in simple go analogue and just run circuits.

  • Kool Thanks! :)

  • I am a lifetime user of scalextric and have moved on to digital, it's very impressive and I would recommend to all! It is a great progression!

  • mostly completed?!? :o

  • Well you know... theres always something else to tinker with. at the time i still had a mind to install track lighting which i have now done and which came out totally awesome (check my other vids). I'll get around to building another grandstand maybe this summer too for behind the LCD monitor. :-)

  • Please tell us the programs u used for the lap timing/race position and the fuel consumption.

  • hey i love the track but where do you purchase your parts such as the track?

  • Track is scalextric sport - cleaned and painted a mix of Grey and with copper tape overlaid. Buildings and table is scratch built. Many mods made to every component of scalextric digital system. Alternate power supply, independant power to lane changes, Robot power Mod to increase AMPS to rails, PC Software lap timing, etc etc etc. :-)

  • can u make the other cars controled by the computer so u get advance oponents

  • with the powerbase pro upgrade that some prive (and very clever) scaly digital guys can do - Yes. You have to send your powerbase away to them and they reprogram the box.

  • Mostly bought locally. its just standard scalextic digital track painted. :-)

  • No way im posting that info here! My wife might see it!!! :-D

um a fair bit - Mind you its the growing collection of cars thats the real money cruncher.

  • beautiful

  • very good track !!!!!

  • great track!!! i am jealous

which software do you use for the fuel consumption etc??

    5 staRS

  • Great track, great video!

  • Arrr its pretty basic compared with your masterpiece! :-) Fun to drive though!
