I say if you played a song with energy that got people more into it then you probably could have won. Like Surfing with the Alien or Satch Boogie. Like an upbeat song. Haha i love this song but to the crowd its too mellow. If you have another talent show then choose a song with an upbeat tempo. I liked your playing btw I think you should have won period.

@metachozoite Actually, the average Joe no longer has the musical knowledge to realize what im playing is awesome but that wasnt the case... If you would have asked anyone in the audience they wouldve said i won. I guess it was just a popularity contest to the judges. I didnt just play eruption, i played excerpts from it but the solo itself had a flow, something you could tap you foot to. The guy that beat me thought that i had won it before they anounced his name.

Thats how the world is btw....popularity and whet everybody else wants...it is why most muscians have a 6 day 8 hour jobs instead of playing music...and why having a career in it is nearly impossible...

I know thats a great song but alot of people dont the degreee of difficulty that is. I think if i could play as good as you i would have chosen a more upbeat song like Satch Boogie by Joe Satriani. For an encore i would start playing the beat it song the do the solo from beat it. Thats just me.
