  • both versions are brilliant.Gotta give credit to both kate and the futureheads

  • Good song, I prefer the futureheads cover myself. Dont hate me for it, its all about opinions.

  • @rudyfoolish

I don't have a problem with Kate bush's version, I just don't like her vocal style.

    Suck is up fanboy :L

  • I prefer the futureheads version, because I don't like Kate bush's vocal style.

There is , however, no doubt that this is one f the greatest songs ever written

  • LOVE HER XXXXXXX

  • im glad that my dad introduced my to music from his early years, because now i like pretty much all music ( apart from xfactor stuff which i refuse to conform to) but still. love music from 20/30/40 years ago, love music from today :D keep on trucking :P

  • Pure Brilliance In Three Minutes Three Seconds..

  • The beauty of music itself is that covers can be better than originals.........see Amy Vs the Zutons and many more............Kate Bush is AMAZING, a brilliant, unreal vocalist, but The Futureheads nailed this and made it their own, I think their version is far better, but without Kate we'd have neither.............end of

Kates version of This Womans Work pisses on Maxwells tho, for the record

  • @melvinceltic Futureheads cover is a joke,nothing more.

  • @Omega7772 it isn't at all, it's modern and done it a sense of justice, helping the younger kids see the brilliance that is Kate as they may then think "i'll check out the original"........some of the live \ acoustic versions of this from the Futureheads make my willy spill sticky white love piss

  • @melvinceltic Well that explains it all then!haha!

  • l. Love. This. Song. So. Much.

  • Placebo suck

  • There are lots of people fighting about how good different versions of this song are. I was wondering if someone could tell me what units people are using to measure goodness.

  • Covers can beat originals, they do in fact a lot of the time. But what you need to remember is that it is a very opinionated matter.

  • why do people think that cover versions can beat originals???bollocks!!!nothing can beat kate's version!

  • samples from the 1957 film night of the demon.

  • why are there no black people here

  • It's in the trees ! It's Japanese !!

  • I haven't heard this in years and yet I still can't help but belt out this song and somehow magically remember all the words. Ah, such is the power of Kate Bush!

  • Take my shoes off and throoooowww them in the lake...

  • healing again.

  • this lets me breath again.. i love her so. and have missed the magic! i believe again. :) mmmm oh oh here i go. .:)

  • I remember being a tiny kid, listening to this in the bath with my mums portable cassette player in the dark. For some.... Strange reason.... But I was happy.

  • Look for the Eviour cover of this song. It's GORGEOUS. Trust me, that's a word I use a lot.

  • Oh, Wow! This song sets my soul free. I haven't listened to Kate since the early '90s. How could I've deprived myself like that?!!

  • Hey folks, I thought this was supposed to be fun? I love listening to all my favourites on here, please dont argue and spoil it for others.

  • Genius does apply to her. Pure joy. How dull things would be without our Kate.

  • Whatever happened to Kate Bush?

  • @eddiebear100 She's going to release a new album in November. She hasn't disappeared, you know ;)

  • Try listening to the cover! by Eivør, it's amazing verison of the song !

  • This song is AMAZING, one of my faves by Kate :D <3

  • @Tawzy90 oh, and Kate Bush wasn't and never will be crap. She will always be amazing <3

  • it's not the same without the 'ah oh ah oh oh'

  • I love you Kate please do a few more concerts soon up in the north near manchester please. Your music are awesome.

  • Absolutely ace song. Kate's voice is out of this world.

  • @vishiquals Your spambot put your shitty advert on a KATE BUSH song. Or if that was actually you, you should be ashamed...

  • I may look like a metalhead... but back as a child it was music like this that i loved so much, thanks dad :)

  • I saw Kate at a prince concert, i was sitting to the left of her. She was in her own box.

The reason i think she was there is that she had done a track with Prince, After the show as we were leaving the arena, (as a closet Kate fan from old,) i mustered up the courage to wave, AND she waved back and smiled, What a legend..

  • Did anyone spot Donald Sutherland in Corrie the other week in a walk on part ?

  • yes its taken from the film the parchment.

quite a scary film too imo.

  • I love the hard panned 'doo doo doo doo' bits.

'it's in the trees. it's coming' is that taken from anything?

  • @SquishedButterfly That is taken from the film Night of the Demon

  • My favourite Kate Bush song. It is like a trip through her emotions.

  • Hounds of Love = one of the greatest albums ever made. The Ninth Wave b side is art that pulls u gently in, then drags u kicking and screaming through the experience.

  • Thumbs up if Ra Ra Riot led you here...

  • Oh my god- just discovered this song tonight and it may have just made my year

  • alot of her music points to the fact she may have been under some type of mind programming especially her lyrics.....not suprised most industry rats are...not that i hate her...i grew up listening to her...and alot of it rings true for me......damn i know too much

  • The Futureheads piss all over her won song with their cover. Bet she's gutted!

  • @TheReasons2010 They sound pissed when they sing it.

  • @ggarlick46 The Futureheads version sound like they are buggering each other at the start of the song... and that... that just doesn't work for me i'm afraid, where as Kate's version brings a smile to my face. =o)

  • @StandTogetherForever Yeah theres no competition there, they sound like they are singing at a pub karaoke.

  • @TheReasons2010 Nonsense. I actually really enjoyed the Futureheads version but this is masterful.

  • @ambassador7 hey, a BIG thank you for pointing out the Futureheads' rockin' cover to me! I love Kate Bush inside out, AND I have no problem whatsoever with a cover. I don't even dare to read the rest of the comments on here after just the last three or four, children's stuff - I'm really glad that yours is one of the two best liked: shows a majority shares our thoughts.

  • @ambassador7 I almost feel bad saying it but although this one's feckin' great I might even prefer the Futureheads one.

  • @TheReasons2010 No one's ever heard of The Futureheads. They'll be nothing but a memory soon enough.

  • Cool song and all, but what's with the bathroom reverb on her voice track? :-/

  • poem: Venus warriors of the tides, magnetic forces, a tree of life, in the crush of a fiery sun, arose a hope of fruits and foreign waters, a fulfilling memories will feel, think what it unwisely the fig leaves, late but hungry with a sponge-like creatures, the Plexus infinite journey, washed with compass and ruler, by winning the soul.

  • AS Music Tech exam 2011 Whoop!!

  • @beeblebug thats awesome dude, we got crappy snow patrol song, I'm imagining the questions you were asked for this haha

  • why u all arguing? if a tune catches ya easr then iys nice.

  • i don't think there's a song on the Hounds of Love album I didn't like..

  • Totally agree with loosehead67. One of the best albums of all time IMHO. I say album in the true sense, in that it was a cohesive collection of songs that all belonged together. You don't see that very often these days. You can listen to it from start to finish and everything fits together like reading a book. Kate Bush is one of those artists that are real innovators and hard to classify.

  • @TGCRVT hounds of love is my favorite album of kate bush. possibly favorite out of the 80s genre

  • this is like the best fucking song ever.

  • KATE IS AWESOME!

  • what is in the trees, and is coming, and is a threat? A puma? The Predator? Her lover? I'll go look up the lyrics....

  • Futureheads version is far better.

  • @nath147

    not true.

I love BOTH loads but you can't say the futureheads versions better because without this there would be no other version!

  • @77wildchild77 Your Logic is Utter Bullshit

  • @77wildchild77 Actually, that is not true. You can take something existing and improve it.

Then again, it's really a matter of opinion. Depending on your taste, you can prefer one over the other, or enjoy both equally.

  • I was rocking to this on the subway today in NYC, silently mouthing the words. I looked up and a woman across from me must have heard my headphones. We both silently mouthed "Oh Oh Oh Oh" at the same time. Fu**ing brilliant.

  • @talkinghead80 you should have married her

  • @talkinghead80 You know...nobody cares.

  • @cadmiumblue You're right - nobody cares about you.

  • @talkinghead80 I'm just sick of people thinking the asinine little anecdotes from their mundane, pathetic little lives actually mean shit. Just because 65 idiots gave you a thumbs up doesn't mean you're important. Get over yourself.

  • @cadmiumblue No, princess - what I was doing was sharing an amazing, random moment where two strangers connected through music without saying a word. What you consider "asinine anecdotes" are what enrich the lives of most people on this planet. The alternative is to share wonderful moments like that, or a pint of Ben and Jerry's with your undoubtedly corpulent, pathetic, soul-rotted sack of bones, hearing you whine about all of life's great injustices. Watch a sunrise, cunt.

  • @talkinghead80 Sounds like someone's gone off their meds. Charming. If what you said had really been that profound or awesome, you wouldn't feel the need to come back here and argue like a little child with a complete stranger.

    Wow...lol...

  • @cadmiumblue QED, but for me. Stop replying to my comments, it notifies me via email and I don't want to be reminded of your existence.

  • @talkinghead80 I don't want to be reminded of yours either, you fucking douchepuppet. I will reply to whatever the fuck I want. I don't take orders from braindead sacks of shit.

  • @cadmiumblue I'm always amazed how awful people can be to each other on these youtube comments. So violent. It's terrible. What's wrong with you two?

  • @stillanego I don't know what's wrong with that person. I simply said nobody cared, which was true for the most part--I hate it when people try to act like the minutiae of their lives are so important and amazing-- and that person started spewing rudeness. It's kind of obvious that person is insecure and wants to get attention and pretend to be so important.

  • @stillanego I also want to point out that until that person called me a cunt, I hadn't been that nasty. I just told him/her to get over themselves.

  • @cadmiumblue and by the same token, anyone who gets that annoyed by small everyday comments really needs to know that we feel the same way about their opinions.

  • @stinkwheel Okay, thanks for sharing.

  • @talkinghead80 lol! that kind of thing happens once in a blue moon! love it!

  • @talkinghead80 BRILLIANT!

  • I think this is my fav Kate Bush song I must have listened to it a thousand times x

  • this song makes me want to live

  • fake

  • this song does strange, weird things to me.

as for kate - i still would. in a fucking heartbeat.

  • Sorry, but the futureheads cover of this makes me feel sick. This is one of her most passionate works imo!

  • @stfugtfofgt They should have been chased like that fox, strung up, drowned and fed dirt till they choked! A piece of shit, but anyone today does that to actual musical masterpieces today don't they, cos they've no talent.

  • This is 47 types of awesome. I counted.

  • That film was 'Night Of The Demon' with Dana Andrews...great film (if you ignore the plastic monster at the end lol), where Gordon Jackson says 'Its in the trees...it's coming!' and then jumps out of the window or something. Loved Kate Bush ever since my girlfriend at the time got me into her in the 80s. Along with Liz Fraser my 2 favourite female vocalists by far.

  • Great original music from one of the best albums ever made.Copyists try writing your own songs.

  • This has remained timeless since its release. it catered to none of the cliches of its day and in 100 years people will still be enjoying this. Absolutely a amazing artist and i can promise you no one will remember any of the covers that have been done of this song. None of them will stand the test of time. Kate bush is the icon

  • The futureheads cover is better

  • @ciarand67 How can people say things like that, look at her, there's no one better.

  • she made life easyer for me!!

saw an old movie dont recall the title, a triller i remember, about a letter sold for the lowest price, the last one to have the letter the devil will come for. I remember the last scene with a train and a huge Demon,

in the first scene: a scream : its in trees...its coming!!!

  • @Aynganiawtu I remember that film you`re on about, it was a black and white film and the train you`re on about was an old steam train, did`nt the Demon pic up the old man and stab him with it`s claw in the end ?

  • I can't decide!!! Which is better!!!

  • YESSSS

  • one of the only songs where the second version is better.

  • @Aysome You have got to be kidding

  • My favourite Kate Bush song by far.

  • If ever there was a woman who could be a viable member of Pink Floyd it would be Kate Bush. David Gilmour has played guitar on her albums and I believe he had something to do with "discovering" Kate. Kate is one of the female genius' of rock music. This song is stunning. Can you imagine Kate Bush as a member of Pink Floyd in this new century? Guys...reform -- you're not dead yet. Take Kate with you and reinvent your genius.

  • @lastrada52 The 2 greatest things in music are Kate and Pink Floyd :) bit too obsessed about both of them

  • @KatesPinkZeppelin And you are in what.... 4th grade?

  • @Fiaganja Why? Because I think Kates version is much better than a cover. Sorry If I sound stupid, but I can't help get protective over stupid comments like that. I think most people on this page will agree with me, but I can't be bothered to argue, so we'll just drop it.

  • @KatesPinkZeppelin well said :P

  • @stfugtfofgt Thankyou :)

  • @lastrada52 I was always under the impression she and her brother played everything?

  • @lastrada52 omg, I rarely reply to Youtube comments because the mentality here is like a bunch of lobotomized sheep, but man you hit it. I've been a KB fan since I DJ'd a SERIOUS dark progressive rock/goth show on WRIU in Rhode Island. And of course i've been a Floyd fan since I was 12. Nice commentary !!! Three Cheers for the Love!

  • the version by eivor is

    thousand times better!!

  • @samrosusanna that guy is not very good

  • @jonfinswife

    what guy?

  • I like Eivørs version better...

  • I like her looks more than her music, but only slightly. Is that so wrong? I know she's a sexual animal.

  • I've had this album on my Amazon wish list for awhile and it wasn't available anymore. It's pretty expensive anywhere else too. Has this recently been discontinued?

  • @TuliTheUnruly Not sure, but make sure if you can get a copy, that you get the re-mastered one , its got extra tracks(which are fucking amazing) and sounds a bit better too.

  • I've been a Kate fan for about 3 years but had somehow never heard this song until I clicked on this video today. I was instantly overcome. It is my favorite Kate song without a doubt, and I can't believe I was living without it :)

  • @amoreena42 The whole album is mind blowing ;)

  • Kate bush version rules and the futureheads know it!

  • Kata bush version rules and the futureheads know it!

  • I watched Night Of The Demon the other day. Loved it!

"It's in the trees! It's coming!"

  • ROCKS

  • @Picnicl WOW... never knew it was a cover... i prefer the Futureheads version... but still...

  • @Picnicl Well said...nice one :)

  • @Picnicl totally agree - The Futureheads cover is nice, but really can't compare to the original. The depth to her voice and the atmosphere she creates with it is truly masterful.

  • @Picnicl While yea, and blah, and this and that, how dare you even say they did a "punk" cover of the song? While I'm not a fan of either punk or this BS they call "indie-rock" or The Futureheads for that matter, their cover is far from being punk...

  • I was just looking for an easy way of saying 'fast 3 minute pop/rock song sung in perhaps a slightly spikier style'. But even that's open to opinion - I just want to say now that I like both versions.

  • I love Kate Bush. She is so beautiful. Her music is beautiful, this is my favourite Kate Bush track, and Hounds of Love is my favourite Kate album. One of my favourite albums of all time up there with Revolver, Astral Weeks, Exile, Pet Sounds, Forever Changes, Paris 1919, I love Kate so much.

  • "Its in the trees... its coming!" oh god.( i cower in the corner somewhere)

  • I heard this song's cover by the futureheads. mm I like Kate Bush's original too

  • Comment removed

  • it*s in the trees.........it*s coming................

ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh , love this song so much!!!!

  • My favorite Kate song! Brilliant!

  • amazing song, oh here I go holy shit its awesome

  • I would have to agree with all of you

  • Best Album of the 80's by far- its a masterpiece.... way ahead of her time.... Thanks Dave Gilmore for giving her a helping hand at the beginning!!

  • @loosehead67 You can't just make that absurd statement when the 80s was the only decade full of top talent delivering master-class albums. I actually find this thing an album of two halves and the second side very slow and unmemorabe. These days her ability with a great tune and story seems to have left her completely, while other far-less feted 1980s stalwarts carry on with unrecognised greatness. I think Kate's masterpiece was between 'The Dreaming', 'The Red Shoes' and the debut album.

  • @loosehead67 ahead of her time? did she produce the album? sooner way ahead of the producers time

  • @IStehSHIT Yes she did produce the album.

  • she only has 3 comments but this is possibly the best song ever written!!!

  • M A G I C A L

  • I love this song so much.
