Hi aletsthegreat - Have tried singing it a half-step higher? It's more comfortable just a half-step lower! I have heard a large, very rich MP3 file of the CD version, you can hear Adam struggle, and the AutoTune kick in when he can't make it - honestly, it's just AWFUL. Don't get me wrong, I simply LOVE this song, it's a staple of my repertoire, and I think one of the best ballads of recent years from anyone. Just play it in Bm, and no-one gets hurt, ok? ;-)

He's right, it's down half a step. It's pretty common for bands to play songs in different tunings live aposed to how it's tuned on the recording for the benefit of the singer. There are alot of high notes on this track in particular, and considering how much Maroon 5 toured back in the day, i'm pretty sure they didn't wanna wear down the singers voice.

maccadiodrums, I'm sorry, but I DO find it be down a half-step. I play this on guitar, it's Bm, A Bm, A (with a flared G on the top E string on alternates) and D, A, Bm, G for the chorus. That matches very well, but if I try to play along with the MP3 of the single, you can clearly hear that is a half-step higher.

Err, don't you think that his voice, with its' plaintive, pleading timbre, is actually ideally-suited to the mood of this song? I know what you mean, it's not a VERY rich and full baritone, it has a nasal touch, but try "How to Save a Life" by The Fray for a voice with a FAR more whiney tone - though yet again, it suits the tone of the song perfectly.
