Vulgarising the simplest Marxism. The proletariat is the class that is forced to sell its labour power to live, eat, pay rent etc you, me and this teacher are all proletarian. It has little to do with what type of work you do. i wish people would fucking actually read marx instead of mystify class and what marxism stands for.

I don't think we need to dig up old British fiction to see the relevance of Marx' theories in society. Marxism is more vital right now, today than at any time. I never understood the fascination with fiction.

@canaan1967 He's not talking about Marxism as a sociological concept but Marxist literary theory which is a form of literary criticism and it doesn't have to be applied to 'old british' texts but can be appied to any texts as a way of gaining a deeper understanding
