i am 5-11 143 my max squat is 185 and off of 1 foot i can grab rim with two hand with a running start off of two foot i can barely touch. my goal is to dunk off two feet and boom with my 1 foot.
hey im 6 feet 2 and weight is 190 pounds. I can touch the rim, but cant dunk it. I am "speed jumper" but i want to jump higher as a "power jumper". Any tips for me? Doing squats, deadlifts and lunges? And how many reps and how many per rep should i do each exercise? Also i can tell that im getting lighter on my weight. Thank you, if you can help me.
@vikatimeesirw If you want to become a two leg jumper then the first thing you need to do is work on your strength. You will do that by doing full squats, deadlifts and lunges. A good indication of solid strength base is if you can squat 1.5x your body weight.
Then you should mix it up with plyometrics. Also add in barbell jump squats to work on your explosiveness. Just make sure you know proper form for every exercise. Inbox message me for a program.
If you have any questions on training. feel free to ask me. although I'm not a basketball player i run track I spent 4 years trying to figure out how to increase my vertical and I have tried everything. right now I'm a freshmen in college i'm 6ft tall and i can do an in between the legs dunk. And i can do a windmill dunk off of vertical. I have a lot of friends that are pro track athletes and they know how to train vertical better then anyone in the world and they've taught me the tricks of the
Good exercises for vertical jump. squat's are a must they strengthen the legs and the entire body.Deadlifts make your lower back and hamstrings stronger. You also need some form of olympic lifting Power cleans, hang cleans, snatches, those lifts teach your legs to be explosive. another key point is core. If you just do a lot of core strengthening exercises and lower back excerisices you could probably increase your vertical by 2-4 inches or maybe even more without even training your legs.
Sorry but i had to throw my personal opinion out there. I hope it helps. jumping is largely involved with having power and speed. Your muscles have to be strong and be able to move fast( fast twitch.) Another keep point of of jumping high is you have to have a high strength to body weight ratio.which is how strong you are compared to how much you weigh.
I'm both, I can flat foot grab rim on good days, hit with my palm and I also power jump in practice but I usually speed jump on my pre game warm ups, I'm a jr and 6 2
Hey man. I'm about 6 foot 1. I can barely touch the rim and on lucky days I can hit it. I'm a freshman In highschool and wanted to know what techniques to jumping I can use.

@blakcpsniper159 Well it depends are you a two foot jumper (power jumper) or a one foot jumper (speed jumper) ?
