What I don't understand about the concept of global 'economic growth' is, what is the long-term vision? Is the whole world destined to become a sprawling metropolis, with all animals restricted to parks and zoos? Does EVERYWHERE need to be able to sustain humans, grow crops, with electricity and plumbing, etc? Why do people assume this is how is SHOULD be? Tribes thrived without the need for all these modern trappings, so why is western culture & technology now a model to be demanded everywhere?

@JimWAllan Very true, what's more "Global Economic Growth" is oxymoronic - everywhere can't grow relative to everywhere else.

If the US, UK & Japan continued to grow at 8% p.a., it would necessarily be at the expense of Eastern Europe, South East Asia and Africa.

And most importantly, 'Do we want to grow?' a country with Britain's population density but which prides itself on its natural heritage is now suffering that dilemma. The former can come only at the expense of the latter.

@JimWAllan Because it's the only way to save the people who are not part of a tribe, and have no survival skills. It is needed to keep the people under their cotrol. The control of a system that is ran and operated by government. The people will acknowledge this change as long as the current African economic system remains intact, and as long as the powers that be continue to rob the people of Africa from their freedoms. The peope of Africa are doomed to say the least. Invasion from the west
