In the 09 Big 12 championship game against Nebraska the Longhorn quarterback let time expire while down by two and within field goal range. Upon official review, the game clock was deemed incorrect and one second was added. This resulted in a Longhorn field goal and victory. Six months later, Nebraska and Colorado announced their separation from the Big 12.

Shortly after this victory, Tech booster Jim Sowell emailed Tech Chancellor Kent Hance and insisted that Leach be fired after the 2009 season.
On December 17th, 2009, Adam James was excused from practice by the team doctor. However he interrupted the practice that day by showing up and making a spectacle of himself on the field
Mike Leach asked the trainers to remove Adam James from the field and they did. The trainers took James to an equipment garage that was commonly used as a waiting area for players not active in practice.
After an unexpected loss to A&M in 2009, in the post game interview Leach blamed the players’ “fat little girlfriends”, whom he later explained to be a metaphor for the media who had overrated the team and spoiled the team’s work ethic.
But I still showed up in street clothes, walking round the practice field real slow.
Again, the day Mike Leach allegedly abuse Adam James, James had come to practice not in uniform and made a distraction, and Leach asked trainers to the remove him from the field. Leach had no other interaction with James that day.
Mike Patrick was a calling me and somehow I just had to bring Leach down.
ESPN analyst Mike Patrick commentated on the Valero Alamo bowl where Tech played just days after Leach’s firing and was so consumed with the topic of criticizing Leach that nearly all game commentary was neglected.
So I made a youtube video, to show the world my little frown.
In the other instance of Leach’s alleged abuse of Adam James, on December 19th, 2009, James was allowed to sit out practice in the media interview room of Jones Stadium. While there, James used his phone to make a video of the inside of an electrical closet, which was used by Spaeth Communications and ESPN. ESPN never issued any statement that their report of a player being locked in the closet had been erroneous.
He tried to turn it over to Sheffield, but they said only Potts could play.
This line is purely speculation, but Leach did make quarterback Taylor Potts wear a jersey during a few games with only the name “Nick” on the back.
Just before Leach’s hiring, Spike Dykes’s victory over A&M was the first of many goal post tearing-downs to come for Tech. Eventually removable goal posts were installed to reduce replacement costs.

When Leach was suspended, he attempted to file a court injunction that would allow him to coach in the Valero Alamo Bowl. Just minutes before the hearing, Leach was presented with a letter of termination.
Then with termination, Lou Holtz said that Leach was off the list.
On sports center Lou Holtz said that Leach would never coach college football again because of his unacceptable behavior in abusing Adam James.
And I said Hance and Bailey, take me back to the first string plays.
Although Adam James was a college baseball dropout and had never even been recruited for football, he has been getting glowing highlight attention throughout the two dismal seasons since Leach’s firing.

Craig James gave a speech at Prestonwood Baptist Church in Plano Texas about what horrific abuse his son had suffered at the hands of Leach. The speech is worth watching on Prestonwood’s website.

Lincoln Riley is now offensive coordinator at East Carolina University under Ruffin McNeal. At Leach’s Tech there was no offensive coordinator position at all for the sake of saving money.

Leach’s team was a formidable opponent to any school. The only certain way to not lose to Leach has been through dishonesty.

Tech went 7-3 against A&M during Leach’s tenure.
I can’t hear boomer Sooner, you know those guys won’t play for free.
After a last second victory over OU in 2005, the Tech athletic department made the billboard in the picture for selling season tickets.

Replacement coach Tommy Tuberville made every effort to support the idea that Leach had been an inadequate coach.
