Ich liebe Diebs Arrangement für dieses Lied, weil man jedes Instrument ins einer vollen Klangstärke heraus hören kann und trotzdem das Zusammenspiel aller grandios gelungen ist. Überhaupt sind Diebs Arrangements auch bei anderen Titeln unverkennbar und machen einen großen Teil vom Erfolg von Rapalje aus, wie ich glaube :-)

The real Rom of the song, Johnny Faa, wound up being hung. One of those waves of genocide going through the land at the time where they killed as many of us as they could catch. :(

Even the people in the ballad are Scottish or from Dumfiresshire in the 17th century. The gypsy Davie Faa, Faa is a very common scottish Romani surname from that area and still is The lord John Kennedy, 6th Earl of Cassilis, his wife who ran off with the gypsy Lady Jane Hamilton. The gypsy was even hung at in Nithsdale in the 1640s. No character or setting is Irish and the ballad was translated into Anglo-Romani by the Gypsy Lore Society over 100 years ago. So its not Irish.

@TheNic1997 wraggle taggle gypsies is a scottish border ballad not Irish. The English and Scottish Popular Ballads (1882–1898), provides an excellent history of this ballad. Its a scottish border ballad from the 1740s. It aint Irish trad.

@yugster78 Actually no it didnt the "Gypsy Laddie" with documented proof originally known suspected of having been written in about 1720 and documented in 1740 as "Lady Cassilles' Lilt" wife of John Kennedy, 6th Earl of Cassilis in Ayrshire. Written to comemorate the death of a romani gypsy who was caught and hanged on the "Dool Tree" in 1643. The first recorded version of was in Nithsdale located in Dumfriesshire Scotland in 1814 by Francis Childe. Its not from Linconshire its a border ballad

Also if your interested in calling out another culture for stealing English songs the Irish hare saying now with certain fact that songs like "Dirty old Town" is Irish and the anthem for "Old Dublin".

Try to tell a Dubliner otherwise dispite the song being written by a man from Salford Manchester called Ewan MacColl in 1949. His parents were actually both Scottish but that aside its a song about Salford and that city. So therefore its English having a title "old anthem of -" counts for nothing.
