  • @Mattline1 can you send me a siple .blend file with the options...just a simple cube and a plane

  • @244jovan not really, it's a pretty complex rig. it's all interconnected. and to answer your previous question, I use 1 datablock so I only have to use 1 Action actuator, then I just change the start/end frame, plus 1 Action keeps it tidy. there's other ways of doing it, I just find this the easiest!

  • @Mattline1 I have a really big problem: I can't make a realtime shadow in blender 2.62.I add a spot,buffer shadow option etc. but it isn't working.Please help

  • @244jovan I checked to see if there was a bug or anything but when I added a spotlight I had realtime shadows as soon as I clicked buffer shadow, try these: do all of your objects have materials? are the objects within the clip start and clip end? if you've selected multiple layers they won't show up in the viewport but will in game. in the materials are the receive shadows and cast shadows ticked? are you in glsl mode? are shadows on in the glsl settings. try those, it's probably one of them.

  • @Mattline1 yes,yes,yes,yes,yes and yes but there's nothing...I have a tomato branch version of blender,is that maybe a reason?

  • the character is ... hhihi the map is awesome

  • i have asked it already but you should watch some tutorials and ask help from someone to help you make this multiplayer

  • Huh I did not believe you would reply so rapidly. thanks again by the way.

  • Hi, Matt can you direct me to a site where I may learn python and blender, I'm wanting to one day create a 3rd person shooter. Thanks!

  • @FizzyIsAwesome I can't put links here, but I have post on my blog of loads of useful resources, I'll put a link to it in the description

  • @Mattline1 Pls i need help, i have made one game in blender 3D and when i start to play it start lagging i dont know why i have good computer and when i enter in game on another computer it again start laging pls can you tell me how to sold that problem or you can make tutorial I think that is bothering many people.

  • @MRLburnKING That's a really big question! there's probably hundreds of potential reasons why it's lagging. try activating "show frame-rate and profile" and see what it says there, if one of them is much higher than the rest that's most likely causing your frame-rate issues.

  • @Mattline1 I did that and "Rasterize" is much higher than the rest but i still dont know what to do :(

  • @MRLburnKING then the problem is most likely the graphics for the game, do you have lot's of 2d filters running?, or are you models extremely high poly, even complex shaders like normal maps can slow down your game! look to simplify the graphics in your game.

  • @Mattline1 Then i must use more 2d filters and less normal maps, and i want to say that this your game is serious project and it is one of best games in blender that i have ever seen. For me your game character is best game character i have ever seen you can earn profit on it and you are PRO.

  • @MRLburnKING Thankyou, but sorry, I don't think I was clear, 2d filters and normals maps will both slow down the game, in fact 2d filters are slower than normal maps.

  • @Mattline1 Ok i dont know eanglis wery good becouse of that i didnot understand good but now i know, and one more thing in your game you have wery good graphics and i think that you have been using normal maps but you dont have laggs is that becouse of LibraryLoad?

  • Can you please tell me how you done the shading?

    is it AO or Realtime?

Btw im really enjoying these videos so keep it up :D

  • @GruntSplatterSpree All the ambient occlusion in this video is baked in, I have the option to use ssao but it's disabled in this video.

  • lol youre voice is completly different than what i thought it would be

  • Great work, I thought this project was dead but this proved me very wrong. It's fantastic, if you do ever finish this, it will be up there with 'the best blender games'.

    Now, my questions,

    Will there be joystick support?

How long have you been using the BGE?

    Rough release date? (a year?)

Do you have any other map ideas yet? (curios me)

Will there be a mode where you can just play against AI?

Great video, keep up the good work.

P.S. I am now going to your music video.

  • @RossBlenderArt Firstly Thank you! I've no intentions of ending this project, I'm just slow at doing update videos.

    - perhaps, it's not something I've thought of doing but I may in the future

    - about 4-ish years, give or take a year each way!

    - I don't have a clue, hopefully sooner rather than later but probably a year at the minimum

    - yes I do, there's an example of an idea in the 5th update, but I'd remake it

    - it's a single player game so you're always against the AI

    hope they helped!

  • @Mattline1 Thanks for the reply :) When I said vs AI I meant like a small map against a few 'bots', the only objective is to kill. e.g. Black Ops Bots.

  • @RossBlenderArt That's a good idea actually! I may just do that! thankyou

  • @Mattline1 great, I am making a game like this (with joystick support >:D) now just for me to play. AI is always fun to play against!

  • Very nice :D I want to play it >>

  • I see your trying to make it looks like Overgrowth :P

  • @AtomicMonkeyPro I hadn't noticed that, it wasn't an actual decision to do, but yes I can see the similarities.

  • Yeah, very nice progress. Keep working on the game - it's looking quite good. The grenade's blow-back effect on objects is pretty nice, as well.

  • yay another one of these! what do u use to record these videos?

  • @EpicActionAnimations usually I use Microsoft Expression screen capture, but for this one I used Bandicam.

  • @Mattline1 r those free to install? and they seem to not record ur whole screen, just the game. Why is that so? of course when recording, everything has to be in glsl, right?

  • @EpicActionAnimations the demo versions are free to install but they have limitations, however fiddling with the settings should allow you to record the whole screen with both of them even in the demo versions.

  • @Mattline1 Thanks!

  • Fantastic! I have a few questions I'd like to ask.

    1) What are your computer specs? Because you either have an amazing computer or you've done a lot of optimization (or both). :)

    2) Which filters are you using? Because the game alread has a polished look to it.

    3) Are you going to make any advanced tutorials on topics that aren't very well documented, such as handling shading in large levels, etc.?

Keep up the fantastic work! :D

  • @d123s404 Thankyou! and good questions! I would describe my computer as a low/mid range gaming pc, I'll put the exact specs in the description of this video:

The only filter I'm using at the moment is blender built in motion blur, there is the option to turn on martinsh's ssao filter, but it's disabled in this video.

Tutorials are something I've thought about doing, but I've found that if I have enough knowledge to do a tutorial on something it's documented any way, maybe though.

  • This is cool man! Keep bringing the updates ;)
