  • Did anyone else notice that "adamah" means "earth" in Hebrew?

  • hey you guys who argue which sci-fi is better. this is coming from someone who started to watch sci-fi recently and only recently watched all the big gamers (Farscape, Babylon 5, Stargate, Star Wars, etc): Star Wars IS THE BEST! BSG is for me to big to even put it in a goddamn list, so i'll leave it out (its THAT good!). from 1 to 5:Star Wars, Farscape, Babylon 5 and Stargate (both sg1 and atlantis). Star Trek sucks balls. its horrible. yes, i DID watched most of it, and IT SUCKED!

  • @Ryagful I don't understand how it's even possible to hate Star Trek. TNG, vanilla, even Enterprise. They have exceptional acting, generally decent story lines, the characters are great...Data. Picard. Kirk. Spock. McCoy. Warf. They're staples of our culture, because they were freaking awesome. Stargate never ever will be better than Star Trek. They just aren't in competition. No one will remember Jack O'neil when there's Picard to think about. Hell, I don't remember who O'neil was(Mguyver guy?)

  • listen dude, first thing first: star trek is an overly popular show that when viewed from outside of the overly jealous fan community just ain't good. the acting was decent, yes, stories were decent as well...but compared to other shows, they AREN'T. picard is only remembered because he was in one of the first well known sci fi show. O'neill is a way better character however. star trek went downhill a long time ago, and jealous fans just won't accept that.

  • why can't people stop arguing something stupid and just listen to the music?

  • <3 love this sooong :)

  • I like this, the problem is that it's too short!

  • Buncha idiots below.

    'nuff said.

  • Kind of reminds me of a sad version of "Scarborough Fair" at times.

  • Adama may have fallen....

    But he got back up.....

No cylon or man could keep him down....

  • @8roshambo8

    So say we all.

  • I think the primary reason BSG is so grounded compared to Star Trek and Star Wars isn't the in-universe technology (makes little difference if the ship creates a flash or warps itself then flashes, or lasers vs bullets), but the people in the show. BSG was contemporary human society in space. While Star Wars/Trek are radically different often idealized versions of humanity placed in space. BSG is familiar because it likely could be the same show set in 2011 on sea-faring ships.

    Waterworld 2?

  • @JoetteWatermani yes go to google and type bgo and it should come up.

  • The fall of a great man... A... Hero T-T =J

  • This was the reason why I liked Unfinished Business: this scene right here. Heartbreaking. Perfect, deep character development for the Admiral. A musical cue that was oozing with emotion, but didn't get in the way. Whenever someone says "those filler episodes in season 3 were horrible and soapy", I remind them about this.

  • Does anyone know the name of the song that was playing in Exodus Part Two when the Pegasus showed up behind Galactica during the battle? Or rather it was playing just before Pegasus showed up and Adama says "Thats it".

  • @semitar6 "Storming New Caprica".

  • So say we all! So say we all! SO SAY WE ALL!

  • People, stop confusing BSG with Star Trek or Star Wars, for christ sake! Thank god(s) the creators of BSG didn't 'overdo' it.. The most futuristic thing was probably FTL-Movement.. But really, this show was good because it was also attractive to 'normal people' and not only geeks.. I'm REALLY happy that BSG focuses mostly on Drama, Action and a little bit of Science Fiction, ok the whole idea of Battlestar in outer space seems futuristic, but you accept it very soon..

  • @cynikal89

    You are a FUCKING IDIOT.

Ronald Moore, the creator of modern BSG, was a main writer on Trek, you fraking moron.

  • If the human heart could cry out loud......this is what it would sound like.

  • Genius.... pure genius.

  • Did you guys know that Edward James Olmos was originally selected to be the captian of the Enterprise-D? Seriously!

  • @bujoun76 Seriously? I think it was a wise move then, not taking the role. Instead of being a Captain, he eventually became the Admiral! So, in a way, he was promoted... all because of waiting. So, it makes one think, if Edward James Olmos took the helm of the Enterprise-D, who would've been Adama?

  • @adamaroslinfanatic its unjust to have olos act as just an enterprise captain. gods damnit let him take command of the whole federation fleet!

wonder why olmos was discovered after this..

i forgot the title but soon after these series i saw him in a good movie.

  • @nakazatoGTR Maybe he was 1 of those people who always wanted to act but never did because they thought they'd suck then he decided to take the plunge when they were doing the BSG casting? It's the only legit reason for not finding this genius earlier.

  • I really like this. OMG i must watch BSG. I'm a nugget i think you could call me lol. I've just recently seen season 1 and i must WATCH!!

  • @Atlantis0rca Soon you will agree with me when I say it is the greatest show ever put on television! I recommend watching the entire series first then start from the beginning again but this time listen to all the commentaries. It's totally worth it and it makes the experience that much more better! The extras are nice too but the parts with the music are my personal favorites.

  • @bujoun76 Yh, the scenes where Adama just finished a speech and the whole hangar deck filled with people starts applauding and cheering and then this music starts playing.. Or when Adama is about to leave his ship for good and he takes a good look at everything around him, and you can clearly see the emotion he has from having to abandon his 'lady', having great music is one thing, but knowing when to let that music start and stop is another, they did a great job with this show..

  • Star trek opened the way for BSG, and BSG will open every door to awsomeness, BSG forever, ( id just like to add that when you watch this and you really get invloved in the chacters, by the end you feel like an adama, great series)

  • What, Kirk's flawless acting didn't float your boat? What is wrong with you?

  • Didnt RDM write or work on Star Trek:TNG?

  • yes he did

  • I love this song!

  • sounds alot like BHD music

  • BHD??

  • black hawk down

    /watch?v=nM3x_9FscSQ

  • Just what i thought. "Leave No Man Behind" is in there.

  • @Talon3000 you're not the only one!

  • This sounds like Firefly/Serenity music doesn't it? It's wonderful.

  • not to me. firefly had a lot of banjos

  • Yes it does!

  • Where does this song play in the series?

  • its from Unfinished Business season 3 this song is like roslin and adama

  • I think its right where Sharon shoots Adama at the end of season one. Im not 100% sure though.

  • no, this is season 3 which is going to start here this month :S well i think he got shot in season 2 the beginning of it.(or at the end of season 1)

lol i cant believe ppl still watch startrek this is way better =P

  • The funny thing is, without Star Trek you wouldnt have BSG: one of the creative people on DS9 went on to work on BSG, and if you watch later seasons of DS9, you can see a HUGE amount of similarities to BSG. Don't be knockin' the predecessors. Star Trek paved the way for the sci fi shows that followed. If Next Generation wouldn't have been so hugely popular there wouldn't have been a commercial audience for Farscape, Babylon 5, the various Stargate series and yes, Battlestar Galactica.

  • ST:TNG was a GREAT show. To heck with anyone who knocks it. The storylines and acting were superb. All Good Things was a great Finale too

  • You wouldn't have CGI in SciFi series today without Babylon 5 wich started it in 1992.

At the time, it was on Amiga computers with the very first versions of the software called 'Lightwave'.

And there's HUGE amount of similarities between B5 and DS9 (all the way)... They were done in the same years..

    Stargate is crap, IMHO.

FarScape has nothing to do with all the other series mentionned (and it's a great series).

  • @aeyana78 : BSG owes more to Blade Runner.

  • @aeyana78 although DS9 kinda messed with babylon 5 since both pilots aired the same year and Babylon 5 was blaming them for stealing their idea since both shows were similar in Base in Season 1 although atleast they started diverging afterwards

  • @aeyana78

And maybe we wouldn't even have Star Trek with its predecessors. It's a normal thing, that ideas are based on former ideas, nothing to be excited about.

  • @aeyana78

Don't forget that Moore was the best writer on Trek TNG, DS9, and left early on Voyager

  • @aeyana78 yer that is very ture and if look back at it they where all good in one way or anther but this is deffontly the best because it takes the story and relisom to a whole new level and it's diffrent from the other like star trek and stargate

  • @aeyana78 dam yas you are right

  • that's the only thing i can give Star Trek credit for.

  • @aeyana78 This comment is well thought out and true. Thank you so much for it. Clearly, you are a mindful human being. Some people cannot think passed their Faux news entertainment channel.

  • @aeyana78 There were no BSG without Star Trek? Sure. But this creative and prosperous energy wich imbibed the authors of this series is a real existing thing! So I think they would have managed to show us something different but complex and gorgeous as BSG is.

  • @aeyana78 so much soo... that in an episode there was a little tribute - anyone remember the hatchway door that was marked 1701-D in one of the final BSG episodes?

  • @aeyana78 starwars paved the way for star trek so starwars stared it all you trekkie

  • @nlunce13 What? Oh hell no! Star Trek dates back to 1964 and Star Trek is Sci-Fi while Star Wars is Space Fantasy. Star Trek is true Sci-Fi in that it follows scientific guidelines while Star Wars was originally cast as a space operah (jedi are space samurais). There is no comparison, I watch both but Star Trek predates Star Wars and the last movie settled without dispute that Star Trek is far, far, far superior in content as well.

  • @tsunami770 ummm fi means FICTION means startrek is also a fantsy... who the fuck do you think made star wars sure as hell not the people who made the suckyiest scifi show ever, stargate universe, and how dare you compared universe to starwars hw did you get opera out of that it was nt sung? do you even know what star wars is? have you ever wacthed it? or are you a die hard trekkie. cause we SW fans know one blast from a xiwing can go stiargh though enter pises shiledand thourhg the ship too...

  • @nlunce13 You must be retarded. The sci-fi ST uses is not force/saber fantasy, it must be based on actual scientific principles. A blaster? How strong would a beam weapon have to be to pass through a shield strong enough to resist a solar CME? See. Fantasy requires no reasoning and SW is a space western operah fantasy by it's own creator's label but you didn't know that either. ST actually deals with philosophical issues and you are simple "I likie my blasty and jedi underwear" folk that's all.

  • @tsunami770 OH NO YOU DINT and really a CME thats stargate atlanits not star trek i have nt seen i clip of that ever so BLTHGHTHGTHDHT

  • @nlunce13 Wow I thought you were retarded, I was wrong... You are inbred. A solar CME (coronal mass ejection). Don't forget the phrase is science fiction (it must have science there). Today, in case you did not hear the news the Hadron Collider just found neutrinos that travel faster than light (aka warp). I don't really care I watch both but ST is def much higher quality than SW. Try watching it you might like it and learn something cool. Done bye!

  • @tsunami770 dear asshole, the perosn youve been arguing with killed himself this morining im jsut glad he didnt have to read about you calling him in bred. sincerly, his greiving friend

  • @nlunce13 he used my acconunt to much

  • @nlunce13 Dear terrible speller: Upon reading that nlunce13 went to Jedi heaven without even saying sorry for having cursed at Tsunami770 first... I regretfully inform you that, Tsunami770 took a load of sleeping pills and killed himself too just to find nlunce13 in Jedi heaven and continue the conversation there. Sincerely, his grieving friend. Please... Use spell check... I get to keep Tsunami's computer and girlfriend yeaaayyyyy!

  • No where Sharon shoots Adama that track is called "Bloodshed"

  • Thanks. "Bloodshed" was the one I've been looking for for a while.

  • when you come back from the commercial break and galen is pounding adama in the corner

    ep unfinished business

  • reminds me of "serenity"

  • Yeah! I just typed that before I saw this was here. Serenity when they're flying into the storm at the end or the series Firefly when they're burying Mal's old war buddy in the snow.

  • I get a very "Star Trek: Generations" vibe from the strings at some places. I can't name the exact song from ST:G but i believe it's while Kirk is "killed' on the E-B and they transition to the promotion ceremony

  • it does sound a lot like Black Hawk Downs's "Leave No Man Behind", probably too much to be fully unintended.

  • It actually does. I wonder what the story behind that is...? Obviously Black Hawk Down came before BSG. I prefer this though.

  • its a lovelly theme but its rather close... wish he didnt do that :)

  • Well it sounds to me like Hans Zimmer's "Leave no man behind" from Black Hawk Down movie.

  • Thats exactly what I thought the first time I heard it.

Also, In the last episode there is a song that sounds just like the theme from Alien.

Although I think that may be on purpose.

  • Does anyone remember from season 1 i believe may be season 2 where helo and kara return to caprica and go to kara's old house where they sit down, kara at the piano and she plays a beautiful song, what is that song?

  • its in the second (i think) episode of season 2, the song is called metamorphosis part 1

  • She was not playing a piano, it was a kind of CD player. But Bunmerguy has it right, "Philip Glass: Metamorphosis 1". Helo walked into the room and goes "That is not you playing" and she replies that it was her father.

  • Perfect that's it thanks guys

  • The gret Admiral Adama defender of the fleet, you got to feel for him taking all the fracking crap his crew and the civilians chucked at him, have to admit every song in every season gets better and better and more emotional. Wish this show didnt have to end.

  • Among the best of season 3.

  • If only it was a minute or two longer god I just find myself replaying it over and over.

  • love it. especially the end.

  • sounds just like "roslin and adama" song

  • It because bear uses motifs in his music for characters and feelings or events sort of like Wagner

  • @Aeon135 it does, because it is an arrangement, or variation of the melody.

  • it's so sad I want to cry

  • @Starbuck049 Honestly, it is.

  • such a good song u really get a good feeling out of it
