never heard of that phenomena but that was not the case what you had seen in the video. after the lightning flash there was a steady but brief orange glow and that was a transformer explosion after lightning hit the transformer. what makes this video interesting is the cheering people just kept on going when the stadium lost electrical power.

This reminds me of the preseason game in Green Bay, WI at Lambeau Field between my Packers and the Tennessee Titans on 28 August, 2003. The rain was horrible. Lightning was intense. All 71,000+ of us were ordered to shelter in the concourse below the stadium as the lightning was striking constantly around the stadium. After a 2hr 33min. storm delay, play resumed at 11:45pm. Game didn't end until 12:55am. This was after a 7pm kickoff! A night I'll never forget! Thanks for the video!

That is a game to remember!! My girls always talk about it. My 5yr old says it was the best night of her life. First being part of the little Rider cheerleaders at half time and then the rain and power outage. We left the game about 10minutes before power came back on cause our kids were wet,cold and shaking plus our oldest had to be on the ice in Weyburn at 8:00am. That was a great video made me laugh too just remembering how pumped everyone was!
