The best part, by far, is seeing Widor and Dupre and their "Father and Son" demeanor on camera. The Bonnet piece is not what I would call difficult, the challenge is to play with sensitivity and expression at every phrase The tendency is for organists to use the simpler pieces as a 'show-off' and ignore the music. If Horowitz can find the heart and 'soul' in a Bach chorale prelude he's showing the mark of a true artist. He knew he could play it 90 mph, but instead decided to explore its soul.
I just turned 15 and I'm half-way through learning this. The pedal work is hard in some spots, but if you practice slowly you can get through this with barely any problems.
I'm 16 years old and I play this organ piece in my electric organ exactly as it is..it's not difficult..I hope one day I could play to a church this piece of organ..I
Maybe you're a far better player than I am, but I'd say it was a difficult piece, especially the 4th variation which has some difficult pedal work. Perhaps you could upload a video of yourself playing it?
I'm 16 and play this as well. It's not really that difficult. And MrJonnykitkat, the pedal work in the 4th variation is actually the easiest part of it in my opinion.
Thanks for the heads-up. A Cavaillé-Coll in Spain !! Not surprising, when you think about it: C-C was from Toulouse, & his first instruments are all over southern France in the Midi-Pyrenees.
The camera work is pretty good, slow pans and zooms. Each sefment is nicely separated and gives the viewer a good feeling of the image intended. Well done.
And guess who's playing, if you know the organ world? (and if you see this video of this organist as the very first one) Here's a hint for you: if you know him, just his note drive should get you close to his name.
INCREDIBLE seeing both Widor and Dupré together!!! Widor as stoic as it's been said (although Michael Murray said in his CD notes "beneath his sometimes icy exterior he revealed a warmful interior" (relating Louis Vierne's memoires) and Dupré next to his Master looking like joyful kid! Thanks a million for this! JW
Great imagery! Nice tempo as well!

The Scene with Widor and Dupré is it from
"Les mains de Paris"?

I honestly can't remember. I think I pulled it from an old edition of the home movies of Ernest Skinner, believe it or not.

Auxerre, sur le Nivernais, n'est-ce pas? J'ai visite il y a 5 ans. C'est un beau (une belle?) ville. Pardon mon français, s.v.p.
