The reason why #7 elbowed Lambert was because Lambert kicked her in the legs first. Watch the video more closely. You can see the kick at 0:18 and again at 0:25, and again at 1:08.

The reason why #7 elbowed Lambert was because Lambert kicked her in the legs first. Watch the video more closely. You can see the kick at 0:18 and again at 0:25, and again at 1:08.
Besides, it's not like those were the only two incidents in the game.

BYU messed with Liz a little, but basic soccer stuff. Not like what Liz dished out. It's clear watching the footage and incidents in this match that she is very athletic and very powerful. She looks so strong and fast, and she's physical and she let her aggression get the better of her.

I think the kidney punch was legit, but the hair pulling and the karate chops to the head that weren't shown in this vid were out of line. Along with the soccer ball kick off of the fallen forwards dome that wasn't shown here. Jersey pulling happens constantly in the sport, that's why you tuck your shirt in so the ref can see it being pulled out if the play is coming your way. Toe stomps, shin kicks, a hand in the opponents hip joint, all legit defensive moves that don't warrant that behavior.
