None of this organizations will bring the troops back home due to really important problems that must be solved first. It sucks, but that's the way things have been and will be in life.
Good always comes out of something bad and something really good will come out from all of this, so I support it.
You have to wonder why an anti-war group would support a pro-military empire president like Obama. I guess as long as you get some incermental socialism with the empire it's ok. Way to throw out your values in the voting booth.
CODEPINK does not support President Obama's foreign policy especially in Afghanistan, Iraq, and with Israel. Call the White House this week to tell Obama NO to an escalation in Afghanistan. 202-456-1111
If the organization is all about ending the war it might be a good idea not to raise money for war canidates. That's hypocrisy. Maybe a Dennis Kucinich would be more your type even though he'd be an economic nightmare.
Agreed. Women's Rights in Afghanistan are incredibly important. But our presence there is not helping. Bombs cannot liberate the women of Afghanistan. In fact, bombardments, rape, and suicides among women have increased under our presence.
That is a ridiculous statement. Our presence has upped rapes, suicides and bombardments? Until the Muslim women themselves start throwing off the bonds of Shari 'ah Law not one more drop of American blood should be given to help them. Till the fools in this country, like Jodie Evans realize Islam is a demented religion that will aways keep women in slavery.
Well, yes, bombardments certainly have increased since we invaded because they are now in a war zone. Re: rapes and suicides perhaps I should have said increased despite our presence, not because of our presence. Reports of women burning themselves and committing suicide have increased. bit(dot)ly/84MyMi And here is a recent article about a UN report saying Rape in Afghanistan is a human rights problem of "profound proportions." bit(dot)ly/7wqir1
And women, like the Afghan MP and Shero Malalai Joya, have called from the withdrawal of American troops from Afghanistan. As Malalai Joya puts it, "We are fighting two enemies [the Taliban and the foreign troops]. Please leave. It is much easier to fight only one enemy." She has faith that Afghans can and will fight for a democratic and liberated country.
Um, excuse me there, codepinkaction, but allowing Americans to die, when a troop surge is said to be needed, is exactly supporting the murder of American troops. You people need to think, instead of simply being opinionated followers of the liberal mantra.
Change back the ROE, send 'em some BACKUP or BRING OUR SOLDIERS HOME!
Are you just thoroughly happy with your
h(Z)ero maobama? He makes quite the bush 3, doesn't he?
Afghans do not take kindly to foreign occupations. We want to keep both our troops safe and secure human rights for Afghans. They need jobs, development, a government that enforces punishment for corruption, a justice system, education. Instead, we end up killing innocent civilians that only increases extremism and harms our troops.
I'm sorry codepinkaction, but your being dishonest with everyone, not only have thousands heard your group chant the murder of our troops, you advocate it.
No I feel sorry for you, you preach peace, yet you advocate violence, support known Dictators that use violence to to control any dissent .
you ask for our support, but I ask why should we support thugs that are no better than the thugs we already have ?.
We do not support the murder of American troops. There is a photoshopped photo on the Internet which incorrectly makes it look like CODEPINKers are holding a sign but it is false. To see the original photo, go to: codepinkalert(dot)org(slash)section(dot)php?id=326
We do not advocate violence. Can u refer to a specific instance? I'm not sure what u are referring to.
And I would be happy to respond to the last statement as well, if u let me know which dictators/countries you think we support.
As an MP in the Afghan government, Malalai Joya has said, "We are fighting two enemies [the Taliban and the foreign troops]. Leave. It is much easier to fight one enemy." Joya has faith in the democratic movements in Afghanistan, but our drones and bombardments (especially outside Kabul) are killing innocent civilians and becoming a recruiting tool for the Taliban. We are not making things safer for Americans or Afghans with our presence there.
This nut supports the rights of women of afghanistan but she just met with the Taliban on her trip over there. The Taliban are one of the most oppresive groups with respect to women. This traitor should be lined up next to Hanoi Jane and shot!
Jodie did not meet with the Taliban in Afghanistan. She met with women's group, NGOs, government officials, journalists, etc. to hear directly from Afghans what they want for their country.
Jodi Evans must realize she was used by the Tali ban. That get up she wore to meet the our President would not fly in the streets of Kandahar. She would have been whipped. She is a useful idiot.
Jodie Evans has been to Afghanistan where she met with women's groups, NGOs, journalists, government officials, and ordinary women and girls. She was bringing back the message from these women to Obama. She is neither a tool of the Taliban nor an idiot.
That email was used to fundraise for a coffee shop in Fort Hood, TX that directly supports vets and members of the military as a place of community. Those funds were not used for CODEPINK operating expenses or our organizing efforts.
That image is photoshopped. CODEPINK does not advocate for the murder of American troops. You can see the original photo versus the photoshopped one by going to the CODEPINK site, click on "About Us," then "New Lows in CODEPINK Bashing" from the left-hand menu.
At minimum you guys tried to force military recruitment offices out of Bezerkly (intentional misspelling), then you protested in support of Iraqi Resistance movements correct?
Yes, we have protested outside recruitment offices in Berkeley and elsewhere. Many recruiters are intentionally misleading about the benefits, positions, deployments, etc. of military service. We want to educate young people about what joining the military means and alternatives.
Not a big fan of Obama but this lady makes him look like a far right republican.
