can someone help me please! i have a b***h of a headache trying to solve this, i have a 1TB external HD i want to partition AND format to FAT32 for PS3 data back up and the rest for windows pc back up data, im told windows and ps3 game saves cannot be on same format so i have to partition half FAT32, and hald NTFS? is this correct? when i partition can i choose the size i want the ps3 to have and the size the pc gets? or does partition automaticallt give 50/50 half it?

FAT32, Sony WTF?!

Another reason to dislike Sony. Anyway, this program works perfectly. I spent a whole day trying to find a FAT32 format program that would allow for any size ext HD, with no luck. So this morning I tried again, and ran across this post. I didn't believe it would work, but my PS3 is backing up onto my 1TB cavalry drive as I'm writing this. With the MiniTool partition manager wizard, it is easy for you to delete partition, copy partition , format partition and other operations. Some editions are FREEEEE. Any of you who need it can have a try.

@CoLFC False. I have a 1TB hard drive and I just formatted the whole 1TB into FAT32. The limit to how big a HD has to be before it can't be formatted to FAT32 is 2TB. Anything more then that can't be formatted into FAT32. Only exFAT.

Of all the internets, I tried looking all over the place. I had found a pretty good program over a year ago to format my WD 500GB to FAT32 and worked perfectly. I stupidly got rid of the program. Now today bought a Seagate 1TB ExtHDD and needed it to be FAT32 for my PS3 as well.

ok everyone here is a better way

go to the admin tools in controle panel

go to disk management just erase the volume thats it leave it undefined

pop it in your ps3 and have a controller hooked to it and do the on screen prompts and make sure to have a copy of the last update you did on a flash drive and have it in the system there you go took me less then 5 min's
