  • lol Green Day probably heard the song when they toured in Korea. I guess this is a prove that everybody in the world do plagiarism once in a while hahaha

  • the korean one is better ahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahah

  • i like xDDD

  • O_O I don't see the Plagiarism. #WTF

  • both songs suck

  • Another prove of plagiarism: Zebrahead's song Rescue me vs Green Day-American idiot. The beginning is the same but Zebrahead released the song a year before Green day ...

  • @emo1232229

Do you even play the guitar? They're not even in the same key, and if anything, only two chords are played after the other showing the similarity in both songs. And Green Day has that Ramones feel.

  • @Junkpunker21 Well you got me..I don't play the guitar but i am just talking about the intro.I know that then the two songs don't sound the same but still..The intro xd :D

  • @emo1232229

Okay man, I feel ya. Seriously, look in the Ramones, the Sex Pistols, the Zeros, the Muffs, the Queers, the Weirdos, Patti Smith, Rancid, and more. There's a lot to old Green Day. ;)

  • @emo1232229 i just went and listened to that song, and they aren't playing the same thing at all. the only similarity is that the main riff is being played in a stripped down way, to ease the into the song, which is a very common way to do an intro. but the chords and rhythm are both different (and even if they weren't, you can't even copyright chords and rhythm because they have all been reused so frequently).

  • Who the fuck can find such an underground korean song and plagiarize it? ...

  • Comment removed

  • Yeah I'm sure Green Day listens to Korean music.....

  • True that. anything Green Day writes will sound like something else because they use basic scales rhythms and chords. Pretty simple stuff.

  • i'm not defending green day because i like them or anything--i don't at all-- but i think they probably didn't steal this. the notes are mostly the same, but it's just a descending scale. it isn't really that unique.

  • its just a similar isorhythm.

  • how the FUCK did you even did that second song?!?!

  • I'm a musician and when ever I make a riff I don't cheek the archives of all music ever created to check if something sounds similar, most of of my riffs do sound like other songs which puts it in the genre of what it's meant to. I don't steal riffs but you're bound to have songs that sound the same somewhere in the world! Although I like this video, it's funny to have songs that sound alike, it's not plagiarism though.

  • yeah as if green day ever heard this other guy

  • Well, this much is for sure: Billy Joe did not make up the lyric "a new kind of tension." Cracker had the same lyric in their first single "Teen Angst (What the World Needs Now)". Of course, it could be argued that this was a thinly veiled rip off of the Buzzcocks "A Different Kind Of Tension" ... except that the Buzzcocks took that title from William S. Burroughs. I'm not sure what the lesson to drawn from of this is.

  • @ifutureman Is not Billy but Billie U.u

  • Hell no..Green Day wouldn't do that. Billie Joe has more respect for music than to copy other people's work. There are only so many ways you can combine guitar chords ..quit spending your time looking for similar songs and putting down people with talent and get a life

  • @GerardWay4lifeMCR

    >Green Day

    >talent

Pick one. Also lol @ My Chemical Romance.

  • What does it matter? if it sounds good and everyone likes it, we don't have to troll around right???

  • I like it !

    Good discovering !

  • ahhhhhhh : [

  • "HEY MIKE AND TRE! I HAVE A WHOLE NEW IDEA FOR AN ALBUM! ITS ALL BASED AROUND SOME RANDOM KOREAN SONG BY SOME KOREAN SINGER!

  • ㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ

  • Jo's song is the song missing his hometown even there were no any civilized stuffs.

레이디오 티비도 없고, 신문 잡지도 없고, 전화 한통 걸려오지 않는 아주 한적한 곳에,

In the calm place there weren't even radios, newspaper, magazines and a single phone call.

논갈고 밭가는 나의 진짜 집으로 나 돌아간다. 도시여 안녕.

I'm going to get back the genuine home used to plow and ploughe a field.

    Good bye, City

  • epic x)

  • omg that's 100% xD

  • lol... green day admitted that they did sample that old korean guy's song but if you listen to it its beyond sampling... obviously... really... also the lyrics are also the same.. wow..

  • @Anarchist48 you truly are a dumbass if you think the similarity between these two songs was a coincidence.

  • @cheese9595 whatever, Beethoven, go fuck yourself

  • @Anarchist48 i'm sorry your parents raised you in such an ignorant and hateful way.

green day admitted to "sampling" the original artist's song, btw. still think it was just a coincidence? LOL.

  • @cheese9595 Very original, going for the parents, fuckhead. Are you really that butthurt about this? Do this than: whine to someone who gives a rat's ass about your whorthless opinion, aKa, someone who's NOT me.

And before you counter by saying my oppinion's whorthless, the "likes" in my comment beg to differ. I'll shall not waste my precious time on a musically inapt idiot savant like yourself, for such time is way to valuable. So to you, I bid adieu, and fuck you.

  • @Anarchist48 i'm pretty sure you're the only one whining here o.o and it's not my fault you spend your "precious time" browsing youtube videos.

and obviously, your comment would receive more likes because green day is much more famous than the korean singer, which means more fans, which also means that most of the people who've stumbled upon this video are also probably greenday fans like you, according to your profile.

oh and you're a communist too o.o yeah... not gonna say anything about that

  • @Anarchist48 Yeah, because the "likes" on your comment prove that it's valuable. Just like album sales prove that an artist is good. So logically, Britney Spears is better than Green Day, and every comment on Youtube saying "thumbs up if britney rules" should be in a museum.

  • @Anarchist48 Cool autism bro.

  • @fratleyiskewl really cause last time i checked that slut never made real music or got a grammy or got a broadway show for NOT ONE OF HER ALBUMS so shut your fuckin trap. boys buy her album just to whack off to the cover ya fuckin idiot. that trainwreck is nowhere near as successful as green day is they were punk, they grew up and became rockstars whilst britney was a kid popstar and grew up to be a music whore, food for thought.

  • @matt785luvsG4 Haha, what the fuck are you on about? Maybe you should have actually read the post before replying to it.

  • Hey!!! whether it was intentional or not, this korean guy(song) is famous or not, that is not the point..This shit is SO obvious...LOL you guys already know they sound SAME..SYNC 100%%

  • I really dont think it is plagiarism though they sound similar...but ....seriously who knows who this korean singer is? I dont think Billie Mike or Tre had ever listened to that song before!

  • greenday likes kpop lol

  • LOL look at all the Greenday fanboys steaming

  • Naw guys theres no way in hell they didnt copy that Korean. Its the same exact song lol

  • @Anarchist48

For sure chord progressions can be simlar, but nothing like this. can't you just hear the melody is almost exactly the same? that's a big shame.

  • original---->1991 copy------>2004

  • ㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ 머여이거 ㅋㅋㅋ

  • Thanks for enlightening me^^ . so you guys said that's not plagiarism because lyrics wrong. that's what a perfect fucking comedy ha ha ha.

but it dosn't matter to me. Honestly, i 've never heard 'green day' indeed.

    ha ha

  • that korean looks like hes gonna beat billie joe to a pulp

  • Comment removed

  • @Anarchist48 Erm, similar is one thing. This...this is pushing it. It might still be a coincidence, but it's a fairly remarkable one.

  • Green Day didn't even know about this song. They never listened to Korean artists! They were inspired by PUNK ROCK bands!

  • @rainbownerd13 oh yah? how do you know?

  • joder y despues andan demandando a pxndx si estan iguales o peores!!1

  • PLEASE THAT KOREA IS NOT NORTH(NATION OF BOMB=DPRK)

    SOUTH KOREA(ROK)

  • KOREAN SONG(PLEASE NOT CHINES T.T)-1991

    AMERICAN IDIOT-2004

  • lol how old is the Korean song......

  • @alsrb214 1991

  • Way too similar

  • que plagio tan grande malditos plagiadores

  • my chemical romance blatantly stole a riff from Leftover Crack on their gay black parade album and no one said anything so sad so so sad

  • @666youcancallmesatan Okay. No amount of googling on my behalf seems to back up this claim, but I'm interested in learning more. Which song by MCR features an allegedly stolen riff from what song by LC?

  • if this korean song had been released later than green day's, you guys would have blamed korean song.

  • @hwanj yep.

  • @Anarchist48 Too bad the singing is the same too so..... :|

  • Well, it's almost exactly the same, but I really doubt anyone from Green Day have ever heard this Korean song/thing/whatever.

  • @ArneBredesen dude have some respect, he's one of the most famous 70's~90's singer.

  • This melody can be created in my mind too

  • kkkkkkkkkkkk nada vê,mano!

  • DUDE, WHAT A FUCK

  • the words are sung at the exact same beat/time/melody BAHAHAH the music is similar but not enough for legal action the words are a different story

  • PLAGIARISM!!!!!!!

  • they copied a korean song by young nam, jo

  • how did you find this song and was it worth it :L

  • green day not plagiarism, they dont know this song!!

  • @prikitiewboy idk if it is plagiarism... but even if it was... just because someone doesn't know the other song doesn't mean it's not plagiarism.

  • @xoxonunuxoxo If Green Day had no idea that the Korean song existed, and they created this tune by themselves, it is not plagiarism. Plagiarism would be if someone takes someone else's ideas and claims them as their own. So by definition, it isn't plagiarism.

  • @NegimaFaniac Nice logic. Now, how can you prove that Green Day didn't know about this song? Are you nuts? They knew about the song and thought nobody would know about it. There are no coincidences this big in music, it's a whole chorus. Green Day ripped this off without shame.

  • i really dont think green day was listening to korean pop music while they were writing american idiot

  • there's really allot of variety for how many notes there actually is, but its bound to happen like this, allot of times people really have no idea that they're song sounds just like an older one.

  • All michael jackson songs are originals and i like it, but now all new songs from a new idols are similar.

  • Comment removed

  • FUCKING BITCH i knew green day sucked

  • lol this is funny...

  • @brutre2

    King of copycat!

  • This can't be serious. I think the guy who posted the video just found the similarities and thought it was hillarious to see the reaction of Youtube trolls.

  • nada a ver esse coreano eh uma merda...

  • Green day are all about plagiarism. They are copycat group.

  • @theflyingdonkey1 ayyy pal guess what:

    FUCK U

  • @theflyingdonkey1

Name me some songs and I'll name you 200 other original songs by Green Day from their 80s material to present. It's today's bands that copy everything. Green Day is considered an oldie.

  • MIIIIIERDA

  • yeah the rip off of the melody is blatant. so? the fuck are all these fan boys getting up in arms for? do you not know what the fuck punk rock is?

  • Comment removed

  • part of me thinks green day didnt get inspired by the korean song... idk thts just me

  • @Anarchist48 yeah, but its how they sing that sounds similar

  • I'm a Green Day fan and I know that many people hate on the modern Green Day. I'm pretty sure their other 8 albums don't sound the same though. They have a variety of songs.

But this.. this is fucking cool. LMFAO!

  • The melody of 'American Idiot' isnt pretty ambitious.. it's a simple pop melody played very fast and hard..

  • in communist north korea, song steals you

  • see " il gatto e la volpe" of edoardo bennato!

  • the resemblance is uncanny!

  • @Anarchist48 Nooooooooooooot really... Sure the whole ordeal is probably just a coincidence, but when analyzing a song, its more than just about the chords and beat. The chord progression was the same, I'd wager the key was the same and the vocal rhythm and melodies were very similar.

Look up Axis of Awesomeness just to see how chord progressions are overused. No one ever accused any of these people of plagiarism since all the vocal melodies/rhythms are different.

  • horrible vid. im shurrrr green day listens to chinese singers

  • why would green day steal a fucking korean song?

  • hahahaha this is funny

  • they wouldnt have stole it from the Korean song, but the main punk rock riff is "Doublewhiskeycokenoice" from Dillinger Four, this same riff is the one that The Offspring has in their "Rise and Fall" song

  • GREEN GAY!

  • sweet jeebus

  • That Korean song is funny.

  • @98bigbutt i know right lol

  • @98bigbutt the koreans would say the same thing about that american song.lol

  • @98bigbutt racist.

  • @rachieechoo,What's racist?

  • JPillusions, anything is possible.Even I was amazed when I heard hip-hop artists sampled beats from classic rock artists that I heard from my dad when I was a kid.

  • green day is all about plagarism, posing and eyeliner.

  • @ToughestMilkman Yes.

I figured many songs that green day stole.

Just take.. The Banana Splits - The dickies.

  • love it how Billy boy fakes a british accent in his singing.

  • I'd listen to the the Korean dude anyday before Green Gay

  • @ToughestMilkman that is one of the worst insults for green day I've ever heard.

  • @ToughestMilkman same...its more entertaining. haha

  • honestly, they only sound similar when played back to back. if i just heard the korean song by itself, i'd never ever make that connection

  • i bet the korean dude is singing the green day song in korean

  • @iluvskillet234 the kroean song is released in 1990

  • whats is the name of the korean song

  • I dont think Green Day listened to this song and decided to rip it off!! its so funny!!! LOL

  • @IamTHEsN0o if you were a talentless hack looking for a melody would you search something everyone has heard or something noone has and make it your own. there are waaaay too many green daysongs that sound like other songs.

  • @ToughestMilkman Really? Great conspiracy theory, no really just stellar. Two thumbs up.... Of course when brainstorming ideas for songs, they decided to use their korean record collection to find something because they were feeling lazy. Hell, maybe Basket Case was a rip off of some Russian classic or something, who knows? What's next, going to try make everyone believe that Green Day killed President Kennedy? Get real, they're popular, they kick ass and they make great music.

  • @iBlah6666

it's funny you mention Basket Case, as the bass line is taken from Pachelbel's Canon in D ;)

  • Seriously Green Day ripping That korean singer Greenday must be high When they write this song hahaha (greenday listening to This song) "THIS IS THE SHIT WE SHOULD RIP THIS SHIT! "hahahaa

  • Yeah? Not only is the melody similar, Jo Young Nam's song includes lyrics about Television and Radio, too. "Coincidence" in lyrics too? No. Green Day sucks ass.

  • In around January 2009.(Before 21st Breakdown was out and the demo) I wrote a song very similar to Green Days 21st Century Breakdown.

Lyrically, there were some similarities, but it's the chord progression and the melody that are most alike. D, A, G. With the exact same rhythm. Dun-dun--dun, duh-duh.

Now, obviously Green Day did not steal that song. It's just coincidence. Just like this this.

  • @Shenanigans07 open chords dont make nobody a song writer...

  • @mack88888888 No of course it doesn't. (!) Sorry mr almighty (!).

I'm a great guitar player, I just happened to write a song with basic chords. Some of the greatest songs ever written were made with basic chords.

cogito ergo sum, ya chattin' shite

  • haha. that happens with simple chord changes. but the melody too, nice find

  • I'm definitely sure Green Day knew this song existed, and decided to plagiarize it, because there is no such thing as coincidence right guys?

  • @VinnyA1025 least I know you ain't a major fanatic over offspring

  • This TacoOnABoat guy is so right.

Green day is way over rated anyway.

  • I prefer the second one !

  • @EvilNoize

    Me too lol

  • nada q ver

  • @megatheli666

es basicamente la misma progresion y melodia

  • there are 10000000000000000000 songs in the world.

Hahahaha dude man it cant be true.....

  • No se parese casi en nada .-.

  • where can i find this Korean song?

  • I wouldn't be surprised if they barrowed the melody. They use a few other peoples melodies on that album, the only way it's wrong is if they don't credit the other musician and pretend their genius for writing it.

  • Fuck Korea!!

  • @ositovargas lol

  • I don't think it's plagiarism. Why would Green Day need to copy anyone elses' work when they themselves are musical geniuses? Coincidences do happen, assholes. Get the fuck over it.

  • @MaestroLeech musical geniuses? is that why a lot of their songs sound VERY similar to a lot of old songs? yea, thats musical genius...........lol jk, youre stupid. its not a coincidence if almost EVERY SONG by them does that. dont be a butthurt green day fangirl, and accept the fact they arent as original or 'musical geniuses' as youd like to think. sorry to burst your fangirl bubble!

  • @TacoOnABoat I'm not a "fangirl" you cock-suckig bitch! Shut the fuck up about things you don't even understand. Their songs don't sound the same as others, and if there are similarities, so what? That happens to any band that's been around for 21 years. So get your ugly head out of your ass and think before you talk, you motherfucking dick. You don't even know what you're talking about you cunt.

  • @MaestroLeech i hate green day.

they haven't done anything to me but their songs suck.

they can't make music for shit.

  • @18n0m Good, because they're not making music for shit, they're making music for themselves. If others like it too, cool. If some people don't, so be it.

  • @MaestroLeech lol, youre so mad right now. and youre mad at a guy on the internet whom you may never meet! omg thats so great xD youre so deaf, it seems. i mean heck, 21 guns sounds just like E.L.O's "Telephone Line" which has been out since 1976, before green day. so it has a high chance that green day stole it, if the tunes not only sound the same (except green days is more of a rock version), but the way they speak the words sound the same. stop being a fangirl and accept they steal songs

  • @TacoOnABoat I'm not exactly mad, just a little pissed at your ignorance. Stop being such a piece of shit and accept that you're wrong. And you're lucky we'll never meet because if we did, I'd beat you over the head with your own giant ego. I'm done with this conversation, I don't waste all my time on the internet like you. Bye, asshole.

  • @MaestroLeech actually im pretty sure youre wrong. can you not see that these songs are so similar? or that 21 guns sounds like a diff song? heck, i think green day and the offspring even have a song that sounds similar, but im not sure. but i do think its funny how youre acting so tough over the internet :p i bet youre prolly lyin through your virtual teeth, but i dont care really. go on in your own ignorant lil fangirl world. have fun :)

  • Comment removed

  • @TacoOnABoat What the fuck is your problem? PMSing? Green Day doesnt steal music, OK? they write it all and its all original and there own opinions, so maybe you should get your fucking facts straight and shut the hell up, before you start judging people

  • @MsPoprocksandcoke so you make a comment to me, saying green days music is original, after watching a vid about a possible song plagiarization? when the two songs sound very similar, except the fact that greendays has the same tune, just in rock form, and diff words (tho same sentence structure) ?? i think youre the one w/ the problem man...lol @ anyone who attacks me cussin up a storm, and i havent said one vulgar word yet xD

  • @TacoOnABoat You're just mad because your parents don't love you.

  • @TacoOnABoat Which songs of them sounds alike?

However do you really think Green Day know this KOREAN song?

    I don't think..

  • @DragonXxDark E.L.O's "Telephone Line" and Green Day's "21 Guns" sound VERY similar. E.L.O's song came out first tho. but it sounds waaaay to similar to be a coincidence. the way theyre saying the words, the background tune (except green days being more rock-ish) it cant be a coincidence. and im not sure, they might, they might not. ya never know. but again, like the telephone line/21 guns, it is really too close to just be a coincidence..

  • lol:))?!

  • Lmao no way

  • american idiot is cool, but the second song is a big fuck you to the music!!!!

  • This is funny, but it's mostly because this is a VERY obvious melody to come up with = most hit songs.

  • hahaha, is it anyone that think that this sounds like the same? LOL

  • @TheBillyJoeArmstrong If you can't hear that the melodies are close to identical, you really should get your ears checked. I'm not saying it means GD stole it, because it's not like it's the most original melody line in the world-

  • @teaflax @teaflax I understand what you mean by the melodies are similar. But they are not so similar that one can be certain that Green Day has copied it. And yes, its definently not the most original melody ever.

  • hey everyone, look up doublewhiskeycokenoice by Dillinger four.
