Shatner is the man, whether it's during his distancing himself from Trek days, like in this clip, or post embracing the cult of Kirk and having fun with it finally, like he has recently. Either way, he's the man. He's just much funnier now than before.
saw this back in the 1970's. Shatner is a defrocked priest and the horror is some druid alter that some rich meglomaniac is flying back home to the states. Of course it's halloween and the alter wants sacrfices before dawn, so the passangers and crew try to survive the night over the Atlantic, and the big solution is to climb as high as possible to meet the sunrise.
Wasn't there a parody movie made from this ? It's a movie where you have different parodies of different horror movies. One is about this one, one about some boy who can wish for anything, one about old people getting young again and one about people who get picked up by Death during dinner. Im really looking for the name of that film xD
seriously, ... i never could tell with those dramatic pauses .. made William Shatner a worse actor or better, technically speaking...does anyone else have clue?
@Fo0dStamps Shatner's performances defy comparison. Technically it's obvious he knows his lines, understands the scenes he's in, and is trained and experienced in voice and movement. Any criticism should not be about his competence but his instincts and choices. Those are certainly unique, and why he is fascinating to watch. Shatner is a star not for affecting imitated traits that hide the actor behind the character, but for playing more intense versions of himself facing incredible situations.
@fastwlkr Shatner doesnt wear a toupee, unfortunately when he went to the barbers (real men go the barbers) his regular barber Frank was ill that day and some amateur was let loose on his hair, yes his hair. It was cut in a style that ended up looking like a toupee, Shatner does not wear a toupee.
Wow, he has more hair than he did 10 years before. He forced it to growm with his virility. "What? Thinning hair? No, not me! Sprout, damn you hair, sprout! Sprout out, all over the top of my head, to make me look like the manstud I truly am! Eeeee-eeeeyyyyyyyyyyyaaaaaa-aaaahhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!! Need... more... HAIR!"
@WanagiAkicita people need to chill about lost hair. It's natural to the human body. Used to feel sorry for my dad with his bald head. Then it hit me ; "for what ?"
@andrewfrancis74 I'm 46, how old is your dad? I'm not bald, but it ain't what it used to be. I was just funnin' on Shatner, because I like how much he likes himself, and it's funny. And cool. When I was a kid, I collected return deposit soda bottles and traded them to the store for a Star Trek Viewmaster. Nowadays, I have two Youtube accounts and both are subbed to Shatner's channel. Same with Myspace, etc. I'm still a fan.
@WanagiAkicita You're probably a bigger fan than me. Sorry, I'm just going through an acceptance -of -nature thing; "What's wrong with black women's hair, it's beautiful without being straightened - going bald is natural,so what's the big deal - what in the world's so bad about having the full compliment of skin pigmentation (being jet-black) ?" etc.,etc. I guess these are actually Trekkie ways of thinking. My dad's 77, but his hair started receding at 23.
@andrewfrancis74 A friend I went to school with went completely chrome-dome bald, what was left turned grey, and he had bad crows-feet wrinkles around his eyes and got barrel-chested fat, in his mid twenties. He looked 50, at least. He looked like one of his own dad’s friends, instead of his son. Dark girls have always been exotic to me, and black girls are extremely exotic. My dad was 70-something when he did the world a favor and departed. I have more hair than he did.
@WanagiAkicita That's cool, you and black women. I look forward to a world where to most people it doesn't matter who you marry (even lots of black people prefer lighter-skinned women).I have a school pal who got bald at 23 and looks older than his older brothers.Looks like you didn't have a great relationship with your dad. Or is that your way of expressing your true love for him? I'm 49 and only now beginning to realise a parent is sorta like a God to us. They're how we came. It's spooky.
@andrewfrancis74 I've always had crushes on black girls, since like the second grade, but I shyed away from it, because my cousin said I wasn't supposed to like them. I now know my cousin was full of shit. I knew a girl in the Marines, well, I have regrets from just about every race. I have a soft spot for full black girls, but you know, those half ones like Zoey Kravitz, etc, that's what everybody should look like, and maybe someday we will. My dad is the first person who ever shot at me.
@WanagiAkicita What the hell?I'm sorry..and others have shot at you?Marine life. Respect! I thought that about the human race,if there was no racism, but found that genetics doesn't work like that. Knew a girl where you could see the resemblance to her ma & pa in her face, but they were quite black and she's like Zoey. Her sister's darker than the parents. When you mix, anything comes out.A cop even asked my nephew what's his connection to "these people" -his parents and sister- he's much lighter.
Twice before the Marines. My mom's boyfriend shot the house up, from his car. That was before "drive-by" was a phrase. The one with my dad was before. When they were still married, my mom took us with her to catch him dropping off his girlfriend. They played bumper cars. He got on the road and went to our church, the bumper cars started again. He shot at us. I saw a bullet whiz past my face. As an adult, he swindled, sabotaged, ruined me, for fear I'd do better than him. He wasn't my friend.
@WanagiAkicita That's a hell of a story. What I said I believe is basically true, but what's also true is this world is full of sin. All we can do is try not to be like that and try to be better dads.Don't have any kids myself (yet?) but I HOPE I'll turn out tobe the dad who wants his son to be better than himself.
@andrewfrancis74 Most dads would want that. Just as most kids expect their parents to be on their sides. My dad acted like my being suckered by him in 88 was a life lesson for me. He should've kept his word. 3 yrs after he swindled me out of my property, I moved back in and dared him to kick me out. He moved into one of the rentals. We fought for ten years, I had him foreclosed on and we split the houses 2 and 2. Partial victory, but the advantage of 22 yrs old with 4 properties is lost forever.
Maybe he has hairpiece. But all U got is Ur big mouth. He is moviestar. He is also rich and famous. U are some lameass wimp like me whining. He has it, we dont. So lets just watch the movie :)
Also, too bad they don't use this movie in acting classes now, when people can learn modern methods. Shatner's facial expressions are superb, their flow from one to the next is almost seamless.
