Im a guys goalie. From my experience, the best training aid for goalies are tennis balls. Start getting the goalie doing the right movement using tennis balls at first. Then, throw in an actual ball every once in a while. Over time, add more and more actual balls untill you dont need tenis balls, and then just repeat shots of every kind to get them used to being hit.
So I'm a girls goalie, and I have a problem (this is my fisrt year by the way) with flinching when the ball cames at me, so what should I do to get rid of that? This seems to happen most when it comes at my head. Please Help Me!
One thing you can do to get used to the ball flying at you is:
Lay on the ground with your helmet on and have someone drop the ball onto your helmet. It may sound dumb but it REALLY helps! After a while you get used to it. (besides, the ball shouldn't hit you head in the game, it is a penalty) and when is does, I doesn't hur at all! good luck :)

not even close to being true. you want to be far out but not too far because when you are far out the field player cant see as much of the goal and if they do shoot it you have to move less to get the ball. also you do want to step out to the shooter and not stay flat by any means.
this is just to clarify to you. only men with bad form and bad technique stay flat... A good lacrosse goalie, whether it be men or women, is supposed to step to the shooter. stepping laterally is poor form and technique.
hahahaha i just noticed your soo right she is soo wrong ive been playin mens goalie for a while now and if u stay flat they will just wrap the ball around you
Wow yep. I defiantly posted that twice and can't spell for crap.
